The location, internal design, courteous and helpful staff and this feeling that you were almost on your own (in spite of the numerous room keys that awaited collection) were very positve aspects of the hotel. The surroundings felt almost homely. The balcony and room overlooking the old port with relatively good double glazed doors and windows were added soundproofing bonuses, as well as all the starting points for boat ,open top coach and minitrain city trips, which were literally across the road. 4 of us shared the 2 bed apartment which was sufficiently spacious. Separate spacious bathroom and toilet. Metro and buses very close as well as shopping. We shall definitely return to this hotel for our next visit because it was a peaceful gem in the middle of a lively area. We wish to thank all the staff who dealt with us and made our stay even more enjoyable. These are really some suggestions that could further improve the experience. Tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms would be great and perhaps more realistically priced breakfasts and restaurant meals. Although the standard was high, surrounding bistros/cafes/restos were competitively priced with more generous portions. A flat tv screen or easy listening sound as a background in the main public lounge would be great.

Recent renovations are excellent – though did personally prefer the previous 'shabby chic' style rather than 50s retro! The hotel's huge asset is the view from all the windows/balconies across the Vieux Port. Also the hotel now has sofas outside at the front of the hotel – very pleasant to sit at with a drink. The bedding is high quality and very comfortable. The staff are excellent – helpful and professional. We have always stayed here when come to Marseille – a number of visits over the past 12 years. Love it. Enjoyed our stay immensely, as usual. Good that there are now magnifying mirrors and strong lighting above the washbasins, but the black basin surrounds are very impractical, looking messy and discoloured from the first few drips of water.

I like the stunning view overlooking the old port and the location of the hotel is very convenient. I was staying in a 2-bedroom suite, both the size of the small bedroom and the 2 beds are a bit too small, may be only suitable for children. The pillow and the mattress are too soft ie. not comfortable. The free wifi connection inside the hotel room is very weak.

The location by the vieux port is unbeatable. The rooms have a glass wall facing the port, so the view is breathtaking. The 1950s design details are great, with a presumably recent refurbishment sympathetic to the original era. The staff are really charming. The floor plan means that rooms in the middle of the hotel are significantly smaller than those at the sides. Request a room at the side of an upper floor (at least 5th).

Lovely, boutique hotel with many interesting design features. Great views from balcony rooms. But falls a bit short on the service side: no shampoo provided, free WiFi but weak signal in room. Had to go to lobby for dependable connection. Shower a bit dodgy. Good but expensive breakfast (17 euros) not included.

We enjoyed to be just on the port. The view from the room (701) was absolutly fantastic. Nothing to declare (we avoid the breakfast, 16 € each for a 4 pers familly, it wasn't interesting)

the view was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. the hallway smelt awful, and the shower curtain was old and dirty. it was incredibly expensive for what it was, but i guess they will say that is because of the location. we stayed in some beautiful hotels during our trip that were 100 euros less a night, but 10 times more luxurious.

“I don't believe you can find a better value with location and quality in Marseille. It is easy to locate, ideal for walking to all areas of the city including (obviously) the Vieux-port, the city's shopping area, boat rides, as well as Notre Dame de la Garde. No charge for Wifi is a big plus. Parking is across the street in an underground garage, easy to get back and forth to hotel. I have stayed here on two separate trips and will continue to stay here on return trips.” Ursula, Norfolk |
