Mercure Granville Le Grand Large  

Very close to the town centre, this hotel is a largish modern building. The room was clean with all the facilities one would expect of the Mercure brand.

The hotel can be difficult to find. It is signposted from the entrance to the town but the signs are small and can easily be missed when concentrating on the road ahead. The private underground car park is a nightmare to access and is only suitable for a small car. I have a medium size car and negotiating the narrow and steeply inclined bends at the entrance was extremely challenging. If your room is described as having a sea view beware. Some rooms actually overlook the sea, others just have a distant view in another direction. There is supposed to be lift access to sea level but this was not working at the time of my visit. This means a 100m walk up a moderate incline from the town centre.

The staff were very helpful and the hotel was comfortable and close to the town centre. very pleased that we chose this hotel

Very hard to find due to lack of signing and vague instructions especially when there were no easy visible street names.

Very friendly. Good value for money with lots to do close by. Great for waliking the old city and good position for anyone with an interest in art

Parking a bit of a problem but they do what they can in a tight spot. The lights go off in the garage before you have time to park and exit the garage

Lovely hotel at a great location with emazing view.

The hotel location was very central and only a few minutes walk into the town and the harbour area where the main restaurants are situated. On arrival the reception staff were very friendly and helpful particularly on parking in the hotel car park. The room we had was extremely comfortable and clean with a balcony having a partial sea view. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice

The main problem we had was the difficulty parking which was very tight to say the least although we had read reports on this. With a larger car it is best to park on level 2 if you can negotiate level 1. At least there are lifts from the car park to all floors of the hotel.

The car park is extremely tight, underground with very narrow steep ramps. Parking on street is difficult.

The hotel is perched on a cliff with a fantastic view of the bay. Sea-front rooms therefore are much preferred to those on the other side with a view of the town only. Breakfast continued until 11 although the staff were a little slow to refill as things ran out. Free parking for motorcycles. My room was large with an excellent bed and good bathroom. The air conditioning worked well enough although the outlet pointed at the head end of the bed which was not ideal. There is a large terrace at the back with plenty of seating which provides an excellent way to enjoy the sunset.

The room pricing was a little confused and I paid more for a room at the rear (with a view of a car park) than a friend did for a sea view room. The terrace looked tired and needs cleaning and painting. The staff at breakfast were a little slow at replenishing supplies.

Not very much to like about it.

There was no restaurant. The garage is a nightmare to get in and out of with a big car and severely damaged 2 wheels and tyres

Great location in middle of everything and next to the beach. Frrriendly and helpful staff. Lovely mezzanine room.

Well situated

In a so-called superior room - with bedroom upstairs and small lounge downstairs. Stairs are hard and difficult to go up and descend. Heat in bedroom upstairs unbearable in spite of air conditioning. Really badly designed and, in addition, poor soundproofing of rooms.

The Mercure Granville Le Grand Large is a very nice hotel, with spacious rooms in a very nice town, it is very central, downtown Granville is at walking distance. We had a lovely stay!

Very modern design in room. Excellent obliging staff.

Hotel partly under renovation. We checked inon wednesday. It eas intolerably noisy and we had to go out immediately to avoid the noise. We were afraid the workers would start early on thursday but this was a day off. It was unfair of the hotel not o inform us of the serious noise t the time of booking. We would have gone elsewhere. I think they owe us an explanation and a partial refund.

Very nice newly refurbished room and access to spa area. Well located for the historical 'higher town', port area and direct access down steps to promenade/beach. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Hotel garage has very tight spiral access between the two underground levels, especially for longer vehicles.

La porte de service qui grince

La vue sur la mer est magnifiue; La chambre en duplex pour 4 est trs belle et agréable;

Le petit déjeuner dans la grande salle sur mer (nourriture variée et vue), sauf que l'on ne savait pas pour le café s'il fallait se servir de la machine ou s'adresser à la serveuse qui nous a indiqué la procédure trop tard

Une seule serviette de bain lors de l'arrivée pour un couple Oreillers trop épais et durs si cou fragile Difficulté de parking: parking de l'hôtel trop exigu pour notre voiture et obligation de laisser la voiture sur la rue assez loin Difficulté pour trouver l'hôtel, fléchage pas assez performant Alors que la réservation avait spécifié vue sur mer, consigne pas respectée et obligation de changer de chambre à l'arrivée pour avoir vue sur mer. Le design des tasses à petit déjeuner est à proscrire (difficulté à tenir la tasse par l'anse)

Un hôtel très peu fait pour les piétons: difficile de trouver la réception, situé en haut d'une côte assez rude, très en aplomb de la plage.
