The location was convenient to restaurants, metro and is in a lively, non touristy neighborhood. The water was off with no notice.

Convenient, reasonably (mostly) clean. The pillows were the lumpiest we have ever seen -- all 5 pillows in the room were so old they were like bags full of balls of foam. The decor looked quite recent, and quite nicely done in the rooms, but the bathroom let it down ---- the shower panel was badly placed and inadequate, so the door and floor were unavoidably soaked each time. Clearly this had gone on for some time because the inside of the bathroom door was bubbling and peeling with the effect of dampness. The lift was the smallest I have ever seen -- so much so that no-one would get in but luckily our room was only on the 2nd floor.

Sant-Louis was a nice quiet hotel in a local Parisienne neighborhood with many local restaurants to indulge. The room was just the right size with nice bathroom. The hotel was right across the street from an amazing food market, which really let us sample many types of food from all around France. Gastronomic indulgence at it's greatest!!!!

Great location near Oberkampf metro station. Close to many brasseries and Republique. Easy to walk to many attractions. Helpful English speaking staff. Good breakfast - great croissants. Breakfast a bit overpriced (11 euro per day). A bit of noise from the Boulevard. Esp on Friday mornings (there is an open market which starts really early in the morning). Do request a rear room if available.

Friendly and competent reception. Simple, but decent and clean rooms. Convenient location, including public transportation (métro Oberkampf, St. Ambroise). Immediate neighborhood offers necessary shops (grosseries, pharmacy, post office, cafés). Old elevator, perception of uncertainty regarding functional integrity.

Proximity to the metro, many major featuresmof Paris and to the centre of Paris. Air-conditioned clean with good breakfast. The lift was important too with suitcases to carry. Toilet fitting needed juggling to stop flowing. Hot water kettle - no automatic cutout.

Neat & welcome reception. Staff friendly. Room comfortable despite broken door handle. Not too distant from central area for sightseeing. My door handle was broken from start and couldn't get anyone to fix it though I asked several times. The lift did not work for most of weekend and knowing this hotel only had 1 staff on desk so noone to help us get luggage down 3 floors when leaving! Though conveniently situated its quite a scruffy, seemingly unsafe part of city.

Nice room facing a quiet side street. Great rate. Close enough for accessing Metro. Good neighborhood for "typical" Paris life. Elevator still isn't fixed several months after it has been reported in other guest reviews. Our room was 5th story walk up. It left us wondering if the owners of the hotel ever plan to repair it. Staff was very nice and well-meaning. However, they're scheduled for very long shifts (like 36 hours) and are exhausted half the time.

Hotel is quite basic but clean with excellent showers and tea/coffee in room. Some rooms small. Air-conditioning and a lift. Quiet at night. We found the location very pleasant - slightly off-beat with a traditional Parisien atmosphere with an excellent market (Pepincourt)in front on Tuesdays and Fridays and many cheap and lively bars and restaurants and some specialist food shops in the rue Oberkampf just round the corner. It is also in easy reach of areas such as Bastille and the Marais and is very close to the Metro, just 5 quick stops from the Gare du Nord and Eurostar, and also from the Grands Magasins area. We had booked a twin room but were given a double room. This was totally unsuitable. We were offered free breakfasts as compensation but did not accept this (we are single women in our sixties travelling together). We stuck to our guns and were then given a perfectly nice twin room on the ground floor which we accepted. The problem was dealt with fairly but was an aggravation as the booking had been made three months previously!!

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, booking a restaurant we wanted and ordering taxis. Rooms were pleasantly furnished. There was air conditioning in the room, essential as it looked out onto a very small narrow space. Website said hotel had a bar. This turned out to be a tray of bottles in the corner of reception. The wastepaper bin in my room was not emptied in all the time I was there (4 days), the handle kept falling off the door and the mug for coffee had no handle.

The location exceeded expectations as did the very helpful staff members who took turns manning the reception desk. All spoke English a whole lot better than my French and all were willing to do that little bit extra that makes a hotel stay change from bearable to pleasant. All hotels in Paris advertise that they have recently been renovated: this one really was! The size of the room was very good.

The hotel had an excellent position, close to all main Paris sites and very close to the nearest Metro. The room was clean and comfortable and well stocked with bathroom supplies and tea/coffee etc. Everyone we encountered there was really friendly and helpful. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone. The only downside was that we were on the top floor and the lift wasn't working but obviously (hopefully!!) this is a temporary glitch.
