First of all it is a good location in the corner of Boulevard St Michel and Boulevard Montparnasse. It is near to Les Closeries des Lilas and a jazz club. A Monoprix is next to the hotel and a small shop for vegetables and chocolate is open late in the evening on the other side of the street, very convenient. The RER train stop is ca 200 m away with direct access to Charles de Gaulle airport, which means no metro connection to bother with. The hotel recommends a bus to the airport which is double the price (a bit more comfortable, no stairs) but when there is heavy traffic it is not so convenient. Near the Luxembourg garden, and bus stops. There is a helpful staff and the hotel is not too big and busy. The breakfast is good. The room had nice curtains and decoration and gave a neat impression. I especially liked the colour of the bathroom. I had a room on the fifth floor to the inner yard which was very quiet.

Having read a lot of bad reviews about general hotel conditions all over Paris, I tried to find the one in safe part of the city + with positive reveiws + reasonable price + good location with walking distance to different places of interest. As I planned to arrive to Paris by train directly to the railways station - Gare du Nord, I was willing to minimize changes in metro with the luggage. Also my trip was planned for April 29 - May 6, i.e. in the high season with lot's of rooms booked beforehand. I have to say that I have found the one that suited ALL my criteria + twin room didn't pay higher than double, which is a usual thing in Paris.. (if twin room is offered at all by the hotel). I enjoyed staying in Hotel Des Mines. On arrival we have been given our Twin room, booked beforehand. There was a small lift allowing 3 people or 2 people with bagage to get in. The room was reasonably small, allowing us to feel comfortable inside. Everything was very clean and we had all we needed, including heardryer. The room was cleaned every day. We didn't order/pay for breakfast, so I cannot comment on it. Overall, I definitely marked this hotel and may easily recommend it for staying in. the windows small balcony of our room were just in front ofSt Michel Blvd. We didn't swith on the conditioner. When we open the balcon room at night, sometime the noise was quite annoying. Though, when the doors/windows are closed - nothing bothers you. It seems there are a lot of the rooms which do not ave windows toward the main street - maybe you will be anoyed by the wall in front of the window.. maybe not. I don't know how it looks like. If such topic may bother you - suggest to check several rooms on this subject and choose the suitable for you.

The location and price of Hotel des Mines, as well as its comfortable rooms and pleasant, helpful staff, are the reason we have chosen to stay there twice. We have been happy with our choice.

The breakfast is superb and lasted us until coffee and cake time in the afternoon, then we ate in the evening. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel stayed open late into the evening. Our room was clean and faced the street. We were satisfied because we were out all day. There is a lovely little lounge downstairs. The room was smaller than I expected but for the location and a city trip it was perfectly adequate. Having clean towels every day might not be seen as eco.

I liked the location near Luxembourg Gardens and the.RER Station. The hotel itself had very small rooms but they were comfortable. Hair dryers were not good.

We liked the fact that the hotel is in the Latin Quarter, near to the Jardin du Luxembourg and the rer station (line b), which takes one directly to Notre Dame and also the Gare du Nord. It's a small, older style hotel (1950s?) and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The room we were given was very small, as was the bathroom. The only other room available when we arrived was a dark room on the ground floor. Having booked well in advance, I would have expected to be allocated a better room.

Location great for RER to Charles de Gaulle and Latin Quarter. Rooms and shower/bathroom bigger than others we've had in Paris. RER rumble hardly noticed on 2nd floor. Very good value for money in this area.

Location is great, a simple, uncomplicated system which provides basic needs. Feeling of the rooms are sad. Rooms would be better with new carpets and bed covers.

This hotel was a pleasant, simple, clean place to stay in a central location for a great area of Paris. I will be recommending it to friends/family. If you are going for decor this isn't the main attraction. Also, the laundry detergent scent on the bedding was too strong for me.

Friendly receptionists, fast check in, lovely big, clean bathroom - with a bath, and excellent location between two stations. Quite expensive for what you get, but you're paying for a great location.

This was my 10th city break to Paris, but by far the best hotel I have stayed in considering the very competitive rate that we paid. The Luxemburg/St Germain area was very beautiful and not at all touristy. Friends of ours stayed in the St Germain area and paid much more (almost double) for the same quality and service. We took a stroll through the beautiful gardens every morning to meet them. Transport links are very good for Gar Du Nord and all main tourist attractions. There is also a bus 85 that goes past most attractions if you feel like not using the metro and doing sightseeing while travelling. The lift did not work on our check out day and we were on the 5th floor. The reception staff did phone us and enquire whether we needed somebody to carry our luggage - so all and all a good experience.

Very convenient to get to my appointments. Generally a very pleasant environment. Lack of electrical plugs. I have to plug in a machine to help my breathing at night, and the only one (just) within the reach was the one the television was plugged into. Lift out of action a couple of times.

Location was convenient to mass transit lines. By major RER line, good if you need to get to the convention center. Within walking distance to Notre Dame, Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was 9 euro per person, no more than you would pay at a brasserie, and a lot faster. Rooms were small but clean and comfortable.

Good location: Luxembourg garden, rer b straight line to Airport Charles de Gaulle (no escalator, no elevator, only stairs). Clean hotel. Supermarket nearby. No mini-bar, no refrigarator, no tea facilities. Every 5-10 minutes the building is slightly trembling due to rer passing beneath the building. However from midnight to the early morning rer doesn't function. Noise from neighbors is easily heard. Parking places hard to find on near-by streets.

Good location - lower end of Blv St Michel and so easy walk to St Michel and hence central Paris. Very quiet at night. Comfortable. Night staff to let you in when returning late. No problems - would happily return for a future visit.
