Very good,
Score from 189 reviews
“The hotel is right in the centre of Arras in the Place des Heroes - a fabulous historic location, and only a few yards away from another wonderful square (Grand Place) with a superb restaurant.”
Andrew,
Peterborough
Situated on La Place d'Heros, this hotel is right in the heart of town; it guarantees a warm welcome and a pleasant stay. The building itself dates back to the 17th Century, and has been listed as a monument of historical interest. The Hotel Diamant is in a wonderful and lively area. This is a great location for a weekend stay in France, or a visit to the battlefields of the First World War. The view from our window was wonderful; you felt you could almost touch the beautiful facade of the hotel de ville and see the comings and goings on the square. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, although a little small, and bathroom and separate loo were more than adequate - a great selection of shampoos, etc included a little pack of essentials including body lotion, emery board, cotton wool buds -really thoughtful. The bed was large and comfy; we slept really well until the clock on the hotel de ville began to chime the hour at 7! Lots of excellent restaurants within walking distance -no retaurant in the hotel but a really good breakfast . Loved it. The narrow, steep stairs might pose problems for older or less mobile people and the rooms are quite small - but we had anticipated this and the comfort and view more than made up for a lack of space.

We booked 2 double rooms for 2 persons in each, however the second double was for single occupancy. Both €78 per night. The couple got a lovely roomy double and I got a very small dark single room, yet we were still charged at the same rate?! If we paid the same, we should have been provided the same or something remotely comparable? I have stayed in this hotel 3-4 times, I won't be again!

The Manager, Phillipe could not have been more helpful - he provided a week long parking ticket for the main underground car park at no cost to us. The hotel is value for money - rooms are not roomy but perfectly ok for a short break. There is no lift so people with limited mobility may have a problem. My room on the third floor had 6 flights of narrow stairs to negotiate with a suitcase, but hey, at 80 euros a night I did not expect (nor required) luxury. Comfortable beds and English channels on the tv. Position was ideal, on a lovely square with loads of eateries and bars and easy access to the rest of the town. Went with friends on a 1st World War battlefield tour - Hotel is ideal if you are looking to limit the cost. Will go back again with my wife when the weather is better! The free coffee available from 2.00pm tp 10.00 pm was horrible - not a problem - who needs free coffe anyway?

Small but clean room, just fine. A very helpful manager. A fine breakfast, the best we had during our recent trip throughout Northern France. Don't pass the breakfast up. Wonderful setting. Our room overlooked the beautiful square but it was very quiet. Arras is a splendid place to visit -- but who knew? Arras should advertise more in North America. The word has not got out yet despite their excellent tourist brochures (which they seem to keep to themselves.) Arras --- and Hotel Diamant -- worth an extra stop.Lots to see and do and very welcoming folks everywhere. There is really nothing I disliked. I told the manager that on the next trip, I'd bring more people, and I mean it.

Great location, good breakfast, good free wifi, helpful manager. Walls are paper thin. Noise from the next room can be a problem. Beds are not great - so, not a good night's sleep, which is the core function of a hotel...

They up-graded us to an adjacent, newly-acquired and re-furbished apartment at no extra charge. This was magnificent.

Chose the hotel for two reasons: 1) good location - when we arrived, we had not only one of the best rooms in the hotel which faced the square and the Belfy, but I would say it was possibly the best location for any hotel in Arras. 2) second reason was after reading the overall feed back of the hotel and staff. All lived up to expecteation and we really have nothing bad to say. Breakfast was great. and we had the unexpected bonus of free tea, coffee juice buscuits and sweets whenever you want. I would recommend this to anyone

Location. This is an ideal hotel if you want to stay in the centre Arras. Definitely a two star hotel which is quite dated. As long as you are prepared for this the hotel is well worth booking. Take small suitcase as access can be difficult. Access to rooms very difficult due to steep, narrow stairs. Limited facilities. Small rooms with limited storage space.

Great location on the edge of a beautiful city centre square. The room overlooked the square and was perfect for watching the world go by! Very warm and friendly welcome and an excellent breakfast. Room was tiny and decor faded but we booked for the location and weren't expecting 5 star in a 2 star hotel. Location and welcome won us over.

My wife and I found the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room had an excellent view over the Place des Heros, although being on the 3rd.floor wihout a lift was a little inconvenient. The breakfast selection is one of the best we've seen in France.Parking is not a problem, but beware of Saturday when the market takes all of the square.

Great location in the main square. Greeted well on arrival. Rooms clean and breakfast varied and plenty available. We had 6 rooms, all seemed to have small shower toilet rooms. We purchased a long stay underground 24hr parking ticket from hotel owner for 10.5 euros, he said this was better than paying the 28 euro charge at the car park, when we tried to use the ticket it appeared not to be valid, after a time the car park attendent let us out using the ticket, the language barrier did not help so we are still unsure why the ticket supplied by the hotel was not a valid ticket- be careful if you are offered a similar dea!
