Hôtel Diderot  

We booked this hotel based on the reviews of others, and weren't disappointed. If you're looking for a very friendly, quiet, comfortable, relaxed hotel, with an excellent breakfast, that's ideally located to explore the Loire, then you don't really need to look anywhere else. It was really very good, and probably surpassed our expectations. We look forward to returning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Diderot. The hotel was everything we could have wished for - charming, comfortable, relaxing and very clean. The family that runs the hotel are very friendly and helpful, giving us excellent referrals for the sites to be seen and restaurants to be enjoyed. On top of that, they serve a very nice breakfast with an amazing selection of homemade jams. We will definitely return and recommend this place to our friends.

Excellent family run hotel with friendly staff ( they actually showed us to our room !)and certainly is better than it's two star rating!

The hotel is really pretty and perfectly located to visit the Loire Valley. The breakfast was amazing with all those lovely home made "confiture". The staff was really friendly and very helpful (apart from the parking). It is really pretty and they have made a lot of effort with the garden which is unusual for a french hotel.

I really did not appreciate that they jumped on me when I parked my car when I arrived. I did not park my car that badly and I was going to drive it 5 minutes later to the castle anyway. My point is that they need to give customers time to get out of their car and mentioned that they are from the hotel, a smile would not go amiss when mentioning moving the car as well. Otherwise this is a great place to stay

High standard of furnishings to create a nice ambience

A bit formal?

We were greeted in the parking lot as we arrived, and we were shown great hospitality at every opportunity. Our rooms (we had two) were beautiful, bright, and full of personality. The beds were comfortable and the linen was crisp and perfect for sleeping. We were traveling with our teenaged daughter who is a vegetarian. Many French restaurants are not easy for vegetarians. At our request, the staff discussed our need with a local restaurant, and then made reservations for us. The meal was perfect. If you visit Hotel Diderot, take the breakfast. It was beautifully presented and delicious. It was a real highlight of our stay. We consider the Hotel the center piece of a perfect weekend vacation. If we go again we will stay there again, without question or hesitation.

We had a great stay here, the staff were very friendly and very helpful with regards to recomendations for restaurants etc. We had a wonderful breakfast in the morning, fresh goats cheese, walnuts and local honey, lovely fresh pastries and the most amazing selection of homemade preserves, apparently there are sixty different varieties! Can't reccommend this hotel enough.

The friendly atmosphere and helpfulness of the owners and staff. Great breakfast with all the home made jams. Wonderful location for a short break in Chinon.

Felt our bathroom could do with a bit of updating and tlc.

Wonderful old house in the heart of medieval town, hidden away within a walled garden.

Protected parking. Lots of couches and day beds to place suitcases on. Breakfast was very good. Nice walk to town.
