Hôtel Diderot4 Rue De Buffon, 7, Rue Diderot, 37500 Chinon (Show map) Wonderful, Score from 89 reviews“We found hotel diderot to be a very nice charming hotel in the charming and quiet town of chinon. We had a ground floor room and it was spacious with a good sized bathroom which included a bathtub.”
Brian,
Orlando, Fl
This sprawling aristocratic house from the 17th Century offers a calm elegance in the charming city of Chinon. The Hôtel Diderot, with its regal black slate roof and white limestone walls, is located near Place Jeanne d'Arc. The staff will help you settle into the large guestrooms, which have hardwood floors, exposed beams, antique furniture, and soft beds, plus tidily kept bathrooms, 17 of which come with both a bathtub and shower. A sense of the past is preserved in the exposed beams, the 18th-century staircase, and in the 15th-century fireplace in the dining room, where breakfast is served. As a bonus, guests have use of a private garden and patio. The location is quite good for exploring the town; the ruins of the chateau are within walking distance, and there are many shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel Rooms: 27

Really friendly staff - nothing is too much trouble. Very quiet location in fabulous Chinon. Excellent breakfast, hotel building full of character - everything you could wish for if you are looking for a typically French hotel! Loved everything!

We had a great stay here, the staff were very friendly and very helpful with regards to recomendations for restaurants etc. We had a wonderful breakfast in the morning, fresh goats cheese, walnuts and local honey, lovely fresh pastries and the most amazing selection of homemade preserves, apparently there are sixty different varieties! Can't reccommend this hotel enough.

We found the staff very helpful and kind. They recommended a very nice restaurant. The ambience of the hotel was quaint. The choice of jams for breakfast was amazing. Hope they don't put the prices up. We loved Chinon.

The friendly atmosphere and helpfulness of the owners and staff. Great breakfast with all the home made jams. Wonderful location for a short break in Chinon. Felt our bathroom could do with a bit of updating and tlc.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Diderot over a peroid of several years. It is a very friendly hotel with english speaking owners. It is a beautiful old building with a nice terrace and period furniture, loads of character and within easy walking distance of Chinon with its many restaurants, shops and history. We will always stay there when visiting the area.

We found hotel diderot to be a very nice charming hotel in the charming and quiet town of chinon. We had a ground floor room and it was spacious with a good sized bathroom which included a bathtub. The owner and the staff of the hotel were helpful in finding out where to eat and rent bicycles and they make there own jams and are they have a good selection for breakfast. We would stay here again if given the chance to come through chinon again.

This hotel is probably the best value I have encountered in Europe. The hosts of this charming hotel are just delightful and engaging. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling in the Chinon/ Loire Valley area. Love everything about this hotel! Just lovely.

Superb little Hotel. Much more than the 2 stars suggest. Wonderfull staff and amazing rooms, much larger than some 4 stars we stayed in recently Breakfast was quality, from the locally pressed apple juice to impressive homemade jam selection. Very short walk into the old centre of town.

The courtyard setting and the easy walking access to the beautiful town centre. The charge of 7Euro for parking is terrible! The parking bays are very small, resulting in the event that we had to wait for another guest to move their car, so we could even open our car doors to enable us to leave the hotel after checking out.
