Hôtel Edward 1er (爱德华1酒店)  

Very friendly atmosphere. Fantastic location in a very old town.

The food was good, but not gourmet to our liking.

Hotel restaurant was closed due to season. I made the booking partly for this restaurant experience and so was a bit disappointed. However the owners other restaurant more than compensated for this.

It is friendly and small akin to staying in a private house. The service is discrete and professional

It was well located in the quaint little town of Monpazier. I felt like I landed in a renaissance festival - where they only spoke French - except at the hotel where everyone spoke perfect English. It was nice.

A little over priced and we stayed on the top floor where it was difficult to get wifi. They shouldn't advertise wifi if they can't deliver for all rooms.

Staff very willing to answer questions and to check something on the internet: also very obliging in changing the room allocated (very luxurious though it was) for a room on the ground floor. Convenient car park. Agreeable surroundings. We met some very pleasant people. No-one forced us to speak English! When in France we like to speak French and to watch French television.

Monpazier and Hotel Edward 1 are both lovely. Friendly staff. Room clean and comfortable. Quiet small garden. Pool. Easy parking. Excellent meal in hotel on our first night. Good meal in hotel on our second night. Nice lunch in Bistrot 2 on our second day.

Wifi did not travel well to room 10. Do not order the pidgeon. The breakfast is not worth €12.

Didn't appreciate the garden furniture for evening dining. Not ideal for shorter people.

Fantastic location, spacious and tastefully decorated rooms, dedicated parking next to the hotel and very friendly service. This is a wonderful hotel run by passionate people and a turly exceptional chef, including a range of great vegetarian options. One of the best meals we had in France and so far beyond other local choices - definitely worth a visit to the restaurant!

The friendly and efficient staff, location, excellent room and general comfort. Car parking was also very useful The swimming pool was excellent.

There was no complementary coffee or other drink in the room. The fridge contents were expensive. A less expensive breakfast option might be an idea.

Romantic setting of dinner - we sat around the pool. The pool (day time) was also great, especially in the Summer weather, and proximity to the shops and restaurants was ideal.

Bathroom was a little dated, but clean.

Perfect hotel. Staff friendly and efficient. Spotless bed and common rooms. Facilities include pool, hire of bikes and even the hire of a "deux cheveux" Excellent food and wine list at reasonable prices.

Not really a critisism but the menu, although excellent, was limited to two choices per course. Sometimes the offerings were not to my taste but there are many alternative restaurants in the village, and the hotel does not pressure you to dine in house.

Hôtel Edward 1er is well-situated a couple of blocks from the main square, yet on the edge of a picturesque and tranquil small fortified medieval town which has enough going on during summer to entertain the visitor (antiques market the weekend we were there). An hour or two is all you need to visit the town, but there's also plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. And if you're tired of sight-seeing, the hotel has a pool for lazy hot summer afternoons. The hotel itself is small and cozy with a friendly proprietor. Whilst the rooms in the front are bigger, those at the back enjoy a view over the valley. The bathroom in our room was small but clean, nicely appointed and had hot water in abundance. The room was a bit tired though (see comment below). The hotel's Eleonore restaurant aspires to fine dining. You can choose a 3, 4 or 5 course meal, and for each course there is a choice between 2 dishes. The wine menu had plenty of selection and the prices were reasonable. You can eat in the hotel's dining room or outside next to the pool or on the front terrace, depending on the weather.

The room we had, although a "prestige" room, could do with some sprucing up: dirty carpet, stained bed headboards and discoloured wallpaper. These issues were not unbearable, but the room would be so much nicer if they were seen to.

We were made most welcome by the English-speaking Owner and Receptionist. Our room was on the ground floor complete with patio doors into the front garden which made unloading the car quite an easy task. A private car park is located at the rear of the hotel. Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were as usual in France with the addition of a boiled egg (on request). The location is ideal for a gentle stroll into the centre of the delightful centre of Monpazier with a good selection of restaurants. We ate at the excellent Bistro 2 which is owned by Edward 1er and which offers cheaper options than the hotel..

We didn't like the fact that breakfast is charged as an extra.

All perfect. Helpful & nice owners. Very nice & calm atmosphere. Very beautiful medieval town. Beautifully decorated hotel. Highly recommendable to go. And the restaurant is great. :)

Food excellent and designed to please international visitors and not just French tastes. Very good value for money and charming owners and staff.

Room a little small being in the attic but price fair for the room. Suggest pay a bit more and you will be very comfortable.

The hosts were absolutely charming and warm. They made us feel very welcome and were very attentive to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The decor was done artfully and with the surroundings in mind.

The hot water was just about luke warm but everything else was fine.

The quiet environment in a romantic hotel located in a very nice small town. Great to relax, take your time if you go there!

The location was excellent one of the prettiest villages in the area The hotel was very well furnished nothing looked tired, everywhere was very clean and the food was excellant and good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Would definatelly go there again.

Hôtel à recommander à tous points de vue : accueil, sérénité, confort, calme, détente, d'une grande propreté, très bon emplacement par rapport au village, grand raffinement de la table. Idéal pour décompresser !
