Location was good and in a quiet place. Central heating was not good. Had to have electric fire. Beds not comfortable. Would prefer a head height bracket for the shower.

Location was great, right around the corner from Place de Verdun (which is the main bus hub for the area - you can go to the Ile de Re and the airport from there),also reasonably close to train station and right in the centre of town. Just a few minutes to walk down to the Old Port and all it's restaurants, too!! Our room (221) had a fantastic view and was nice and airy, which was great as the hotel doesn't have air conditioning and I assume could get hot in the summer!! The room had a really, really nice bathroom for a two-star hotel!!! The bed was quite uncomfortable - thin, worn out mattress which hung down in the middle, so both of us always ended up rolling in! I think they should really get new mattresses. Room was quite small, but that didn't bother us too much (but we did have to put our suitcase up on the little dressing table thingy, so if you have lots of luggage, that could be a problem. We didn't have breakfast, but the breakfast room looked extremely dark so wsn't very inviting!!

Friendly staff, great location, good price. The room was a little tired, but what do you expect with the price. I would definately recommend it.

We had a room for two people that came with two bedrooms which was great for our young baby. Lovely place, very atmospheric and made a change from 'me to' modern hotels chains. We needed to travel through night and arrive at 3am...hotel staff were there to see us in and were very kind. Kitchen only had hot plates...could do with an oven or microwave really,

The hotel manages to be right in the middle of the beautiful old town of La Rochelle, but on a quiet side street so allowing peaceful sleep. The interiors are elegant and the staff very helpful and welcoming. We could not fault the room, the beds were comfortable and the shower was excellent (the two most important things in a hotel, in our opinion). We will certainly be staying here on our next trip to La Rochelle.

The location is excellent for anyone who wants to visit La Rochelle as the hotel is very close to the port, restaurants, and shopping. It's located in an interesting building that is definitely not in the class of "bland chain-like hotels" and it's reasonable value for what it delivers. The breakfast is served in a darkish room and isn't great value for the EUR7.50 that's charged. People who need a lift shouldn't stay in this hotel as there are lots of stairs to navigate. The parking is labelled as "may incur a charge" but the hotel will charge EUR7.00 per night - not a lot, but this charge should be clearly stated up front. Finding the hotel requires you to navigate the on-way system in La Rochelle - be prepared to read maps or use a sat-nav.

Our stay was something wonderfully unexpected. The staff were lovely and helpful, the location perfect right in the middle of the town. The room was small but cozy and clean, you don't need much to feel comfortable. We slept very well, there weren't much noise at all. The breakfast for 7.50 Euros is a bit dear for what offers. I'd have expected some hot food (scramble eggs, etc..)

Staff were very friendly. Car park in the centre of town. Room was tiny. They left bottle ice on car park floor, my wife slipped very badly damaged her wrist. Bathroom very tiered. Hard bed.

Excellent city centre location. Very difficult to find due to awful one-way system that even local police couldn't explain. Also constant sound of running water. Old plumbing or a fault ?

Faultless for the price. Great location - 2 mins walk to fantastic food markets, boutiques, waterfront. Free parking onsite which is a rarity these days. Spacious rooms with good bathroom. Special mention to the owners who went over as above any normal level of service to help us when our baby fell ill. They organized a doctor to visit in the room, went to the pharmacy to pick up medications and rang around looking for a specialist for us. Amazing service which will not be forgotten. Lovely people and a reminder of what real service used to be about. Being picky, beds could be updated but they were still comfortable. Also wifi was a bit intermitant in our room (furthest away from the router) but we were using iPhones...

The location was good, not right by the old port where it can be very busy and noisy but just a couple of minutes to the shops and five minutes from the port. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was also free parking which is a bonus in la rochelle! Pleasant room wih lovely old furniture and a pleasant atmosphere There is no lift so for people like me with dodgy knees you need to ask to be on the ground floor; could have been more choice at breakfast and coffee facilities in the room would be good although not to have is not unusual in france; room was fine for me but two people might find it a little small

Rooms clean and comfortable for 2. Staff very professional and breakfast was good. Complimentary parking (request required) and wifi. No lift.... We were on first and second floors. Address is on one way street, narrow and not easily accessable (use TomTom gps).

A lovely hotel. The lady on reception made us feel like it was a real pleasure to have us staying there. The rooms balanced modern comfort with old world charm. They have secure parking (rare for the old city of La Rochelle) but you have to make sure you book that in advance.
