Housed in a mansion in the heart of the historic quarter, Le Clos D'amboise is surrounded by a large landscaped garden. The property was built in the 17th century.
Score from 328 reviews Excellent
Located in an 18th century building, just 400 metres from the Château de Chenonceau, this hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool and a restaurant and bar.
Score from 316 reviews Very good
Set among the vineyards of central France, this 16th-century chateau features a seasonal swimming pool in the 4-hectare park.
Score from 180 reviews Very good
This manor is located near the Château d'Amboise. It offers a large outdoor swimming pool with a terrace and lounge chairs, and a free bottle of Liqueur de Fraises.
Score from 137 reviews Wonderful
Accommodation was of a high standard, service pleasant, food expensive but excellent and a result of a lot of skilled work. Afternoon drink on the terrace equally expensive but without the justification.
We had last stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon, 45 years ago. A fact we mentioned and which brought zero response. A really good hotel would have made a bit of a fuss of us, even if it was only a complimentary aperitif
We liked the location and convenience.
We were put off by a few things: the house is lovely, including the new part but the signs everywhere about not picnicking are such a shame -it's like come and stay but don't enjoy our garden or the outdoors-ironic that our room had a picture of people picnicking at the property 100 or so years ago !! We couldn't find the pool. The room had no view although could easily have done if laid out differently, the shower was in the bath with no place to stand. Was suggested very strongly several times that we book for dinner when in reality there are far cheaper places in the village.
Food at the restaurant was fabulous. We also took time to eat at the local Michelin bib restarants in the area.
The hotel is conveniently located to both the Chenonceau station and the Château. It is very quaint and comfortable. There is an excellent restaurant for fine dining. My room was spacious and well appointed. It is the stand out accommodation in this village. Chenonceau was well worth the trip and I highly recommend the hotel.
Loved the surroundings the restaurant on site and the respectful staff.
I would have liked fresh towels the second day of our stay.
This hotel has a very homely feel to it with an excellent restaurant, which touches on being elegant and very comfortable. Perfect hotel for sightseeing.
Everything! From staff, comfort of room, amenities, food, atmosphere...loved it all and hope to return one day.
Firstly the room. Also the atmostphere which was very relaxed. The food in the restaurant was perfect, my best meal ever ( the restaurant has a michelin star). I put it on my facebook page with a recommendation- whoever can go should go!!
Breakfast - Its typical for France, but I missed fresh fruit and vegetables which are typical for breakfast in my country. Apart from that- everything was perfect
location, cleaning, breakfast at room, beautiful house
wireless is weak at room
Accommodation was in an excellent position - very close to the Chenoneoux castle. We were in the renovated part of the hotel which maintained the beautiful of the original inn. Excellent dinner at the restaurant.
We arrived late due to a hold up by us to get to Chunnel, telephoned on way and was assured it would be ok to still have dinner at 9.00pm, arrived at 8.30 Staff were very helpful, food and restaurant service was very good. Probably one of the best Hotels we have found in France. The village was also good to walk around and had an excellent choice of restaurants. We did not try pool as hurrying to move on.
Food good but no change of menu during our stay. One meal OK but 2 maximum
Clearly recognised for the excellence of the cuisine, the whole experience at this hotel exceeded our expectations. The room booked was described as a standard double but in fact was more akin to a suite. The staff were superb and everything was pristine.
One meal was booked in as a higher option than the one selected. This was the only fault experienced.
Quirky but very comfortable rooms and a lovely dinner, all served by very attentive staff.
Location!!! Charming atmosphere Nice Restaurant Air Conditioning The lovely pool Spacious room Helpful owners/ staff Onsite parking
road noise in room which was right on the street. Had to keep windows closed Dark brown rug in room
We liked the spacious sound-proofed room, the large, comfortable bed and the small, secluded swimming pool behind the annexe in which our room was located. The chateau of Chenonceaux is a few minutes walk down the road.
We didn't like having to cross a very busy road to get to the main hotel. The wifi was unbelievably irritating. The fact that breakfast is charged separately at 16 euros each seems inhospitable and penny-pinching, and led to our decision to have breakfast in the delightful bakery round the corner, where we were not at all surprised to be joined by several guests we had met in the restaurant the night before. The restaurant was quite good, but not good enough to compensate for the somewhat stuffy and pretentious atmosphere.
We were pleasantly surprised to see our beautiful suite/room overlooking the garden and pool. The room provided excellent privacy and security including a safe. It also had electric shutters that provided soundproofing and security on the first floor. They left candy in the room for us too. The restaurant had the best breakfast of our trip. Everything was delicious! Umbrellas are provided at the door. The staff was very accommodating.
The roof leaked into the walkway leading to the restaurant.
Location was excellent for visiting the Château de Chenonceau. The chateau and gardens were exceptional and the village provided good access to surrounding towns
On arrival the room offered lacked the charm that we were expecting for the cost and access was very difficult - The hotel provided an alternative room which was much better but it was a disappointing start. Having looked forward to an exceptional meal, both starter and main were extremely disappointing. Even by French Cuisine standards meal portions were minuscule - Langoustine starter - Disappointing! Main - Pan fried fillet of Charolais beef served with large French fries - Requested rare - arrived over cooked, four chips (even by French Cuisine standards) do not constitute a meal! - Conclusion - Over rated and expensive!
Fabulous restaurant, excellent staff, excellent proximity to maybe the most striking chateau in all of France, very quiet at night, nice pool.
There is nothing not to like.
We liked the attentive staff and location walking distance to Chenonceaux and the Cher.
The food was good and the bedroom was comfortable with a good suite.. Also the position was good
We did not like the position of the lavatory in the bedroom.
the restaurant is great very good breakfast dog friendly
The hotel building was lovely - we were in the main house. Everything was well maintained. The terrace was a great place for a drink at the end of the day.
Village-centre location. Excellent food. Proximity to chateau. Superb room in courtyard annexe
Service in restaurant a little over-formal for our tastes
