Location, food (breakfasts and dinner) was good. Staff very helpful once issues understood.
Street noise (rubbish collection quite early and traffic particular bikes), food overpriced compared with other restaurants
A beach was just down the road
We booked a triple room for 3 adults, when we arrived was a room and had bunk beds, could of got this for 150 euro less, when we pointed this out they showed us the chair unfolded. we was in shock, it turned out it was broken and had been fixed with tape, my friend could not sleep and ended up with bad back, you had to cross a main road, it was not a hotel, we could of got a whole lovely apartment for half the price we paid, we are so upset we will be making an complaint to certain areas we fill conned. this should be sold as room only and no more than 100 euro a week, not what we paid, no tv lounge etc to get breakfast would have to walk up road and cross the road, so we was not in a hotel. It was not a large room as booked, and no Bath it was a shower room, but the shower was good. In all the years been to France only hotel that did not have an English tv selection, not that matters only notice due to no local places to go unless used car.No kettle to make drinks as far from anything this was not fair, no chest to put clothes in very small hanger space but took up by a folding bed.only one set of keys so locked in if anyone went out as no lock on inside of door a real worry. As need keys due to an outer door too.
The owners were extremely accomodating and made us feel welcome. Even after an unexpected late arrival. The room was large, clean, and there was a little courtyard with tables and chairs. There was a nice fresh breakfast every morning and the owner and his wife couldnt have been friendlier. There was lots of on street parking and the beach was walking distance from the hotel.
We had bad weather, but that wasnt thier fault!
would have liked to stay longer but early morning and boat trip prevented us. Would like to go again maybe next year and explore the area fully. Ideal location and staff very friendly. Jenny from France
only leaving the place !!! Nothing to recommend - only never stay there !!!. owners should be ashamed to charge people .
The place was crawling dirty. old kanckered beds & fittings . old decor and very shabby. unhelpful staff - if you can find them
Weather was fine and it is close to the beach.
Poor value for money, the room was ordinary and not in the building advertised
Cleanliness Proximity to ferry port Comfort Spacious Bathroom
Unable to comment on staff and facilities as arrived late evening and left early morning
Location for visiting places of interest. room quite good, help and support off staff. Clean. Stone throw from good beach. Good location for Caen ferry and easy 45 mins to LeHavre with great on route stops such as Honfleur.
Space to relax in hotel. No real bar. A bit of a walk to restaurants.
When i booked this hotel i had the last room but unfortunately i recieved an email from the owner stating that the shower was broken so i wouldn't be able to stay there. However, i was instead offered a room in their B&B across the street for the same price and had breakfast for two included for free. The owner was very friendly and polite and spoke very good English. It is also very close to the beach. I recommend this hotel.
Nothing to do with the hotel but i had a nightmare trying to find a restaurant for an evening meal. The local ones only seem to serve food at lunchtime and only drinks in the evening. I had to walk about a mile along the beach to find somewhere to eat.
We were later than planned and the manager was very understanding, assuring us that this was no problem. The rest of the staff were lovely and so friendly. The manager also helped us to plan our route for the following day. The room was basic but perfectly adequate for the family. The location for exploring the historic beaches was perfect.
Plenty of room in bedrooms plus excellent breckfast very helpfull staff
Convenient for Caen ferry. Special arrangements made for our late arrival
I booked two triple rooms for myself and friends on the description given and the photos shown. The rooms were nothing like shown, My room had no shower screen or curtain and as we were in the converted attic space, we had kneel in the bath as we would hit our heads if we stood in the bath due to the sloping ceiling. There were three beds two were camp beds. Both rooms were located across the main road from the main building, so we had to cross the road if we had breakfast. No sitting room and no bar to relax after a day out. We were visiting the D-Day Beaches. The second room did have a shower but had bunk beds. As a base for visiting the area I suggest it is used for that - certainly not a holiday hotel.
I booked a twin room and was given a family room which could accommodate 5 people and was a bit crammed with furniture
Location Good option for late arrivals Proximity to historical places
Breakfast was not good. Staff was not friendly. A bit overpriced for the service provided.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms given in grounds as 1 member of group reduced mobility.
Had expected facilities to make drinks in room or available in hotel, particularly as small town with few facilities open in evenings.
value for the money, they were kind, they trusted us, so we could behave accordingly. English spoken. On request they served us an early breakfast on the morning of departure.
liked locality near ferry reasonable price
arrived mid afternoon no one in hotel had to phone and wait 20 minutes for access
The hotel was very close to the shores of Hermanville, It took only 1 minute to go to the sea. The house where hotel is operating is very beautiful.
Do not go here if you cant laugh on the problems. It was just like in Fawlty Towers comic series. The staff is very nice and helpful but if they try to anything something always went wrong.
the location the facilities the friendly
The room was clean and facilities were clean. The young boy on reception was helpful considering it was his first day.
The room was very cold. The neighbouring room came in at 3.00 a.m. waking everyone up and continued speaking loudly for the next 30 minutes keeping everyone awake. The no noise sign needs to be in big letters in a more noticeable space.
NOTHING. Would not go there again.
Place was in complete darkness when we arrived at about 22.00 hrs. A note attached to the inside of an unlit window directed us to a small shed in the gardens, which was our room.I was fortunate to have a torch in the car otherwise we would have not been able to read the note or find our way to the room. We are both disabled and it was a difficult and unwelcoming introduction to France.
cheap clean overnight stop before catching ferry. Good value breakfast very helpful manager/owner
The room was a garage conversion. It was damp - it smelt damp, it had black mildew in the corners of the room and around the skirting board. The bed was short and uncomfortable with hanging cushions as a bead head. The room was acoustically poor and we could hear traffic from the busy road out side and the footsteps of other people walking across the gravel courtyard. One side of the bed was flush against the wall so the Pearson on that side could not get out easily without disturbing the other. There were spiders and spider webs and a snail in the room. I ended up going to the car and getting my camp bed and sleeping bag to sleep in. We needed to be up at 06.00 to catch a ferry and neither of us got much sleep because of the room conditions. Furthermore we tried to pay for the room on arrival but the manager said to pay in the morning even after we explained that we needed to leave by 07.00 At 07.00 we couldn't gain acess to the hotel nor could we contact anyone by using the phone in the room. The hotel was in darkness so we had to leave a note saying we would call and pay by phone from the ferry terminal. During our stay in France we booked and stayed in a few different hotels and cabins for a reasonable price and all were lovely except for Hotel Canada which I was very disapointed with. Kind regards, Jennifer
Walking distance to the beach
Very depressing family room in block across the road from the hotel.
