Great location, good value for money, decent breakfast and friendly young staff. (I am a good French speaker. I don't know what their English was like.) Charming courtyard for picnicking, which must be pleasantly shady in summer. All the bedrooms have their windows on the courtyard side, riadh-style.
The bedroom walls were thin. We were there off season (early November) when there were only a few other residents and it wasn't a problem, but you could hear the TV and loud conversations in the next room.
Short walk to train station and to old city centre. Bedroom and bathroom was really clean and comfortable.
Only negative.. no screens on the windows and lots of mosquitos so it got quite hot in the room overnight because we couldn't have the windows open. Maybe even just a screen on the bathroom window would be good. :) nothing else wrong. :)
It was not spoilt by modernity. The ambiance was tranquil and relaxed. We loved the it's originality and un themed decor. The staff could not have been more helpful. We hope the new owners retain the atmosphere.
The public parking was not so hot. But parking in the town is a pain anyway.
For travellers without a car this location is good. The stroll through the backstreets has character and won't take long to get to the centre.
We chose this hotel because it said it had parking. With a loaded car this was essential to us. It's possibly our fault that we didn't make the distinction between 'public' and 'private' parking, but all it can claim to be is close to a public car park. The manager seemed nervous of the area (there is a soup kitchen directly opposite, no judgements here). Our time in Avignon was spent moving our stuff safely inside and not seeing the city. Wish we went for the nearby Ibis with secure parking on this occasion. The breakfast was over-priced (€8.50). Having a 6 month old with us, we weren't given a typical room upstairs so can't speak for them, instead we were put in a room off the ground-floor courtyard garden, with mixed blessings, it gave us good access but it was overgrown and was home to huge mosquitos.
The level of noise throughout the night.
Friendly welcoming staff, our rooms were on the ground floor luckily as one of our group would have serious difficulty getting up the stairs. Clean but very basic rooms and shower/bath, basically a good place to stay one night, breakfast outside in the courtyard was also good. Within easy walking distance of plenty of wonderful restaurants!
Lovely garden setting
No screens at window so bitten loads by midgies
Good location, lovely courtyard.
Parking not available close by, no air conditioning.
The central courtyard round which the rooms are situated. Very cool with trees and tables where breakfast is served.
Don't be put off by the building's exterior - admit I wondered what the rooms would be like when I saw the hotel for the first time, but was perfectly satisfied with the facilities and service. Quaint breakfast area outside.
Room was pleasant as were the staff. Parking was ok. Not far to main area of Avignon, about 10 mins away.
Breakfast was poor. Coffee in flasks and plasric wrapped cheese. Plastic cups not glasses for fruit juice!
great location, great price. friendly staff.
street noise, get an courtyard facing room. they charge for a lame breakfast. beds a cheap and uncomfortable.
Garden was so beautiful and unique. Lovely room and the staff was really nice. Location was good.
Breakfast could've been a bit better with some fruits and a bit broader selection of foods.
Great family room, the kids loved going upstairs to their beds. Nice buffet breakfast in the courtyard.
The room was hot (August). There were two noisy fans so it was a case of deciding which was worse, the noise or the heat. The courtyard area is a little tired but for the amount of time spent there it was fine.
Mattress was great! Position was very good
Breakfast out of a packet!
Staff were polite kind and helpful
The area and the condition of the building
I like the quadruple room my friends and I stayed in. It's clean with good view facing the long wall of Avignon, and beautiful stair up the beds I sleep.
Have some mosquitoes in the room.
Liked quiet situation close to interesting small restaurants
the much advertised garden was a disappointment - really just the large tree which was dropping leaves. it was rather dusty and unviting to sit outside and no one did.
friendly and helpful staff. good location.
no aircon, but no big issue.
Good location within the city walls
The room was not very pleasant. The photos on the internet look a lot better than in realty.
The cleanliness and the quietness.
breakast a bit too expensive in my opinion but maybe it was worth the price.
location is good
old equipment and furniture
The location just inside the walls was great. Some very nice restaurants not too far away.
Fairly expensive for such a basic 2 star hotel. Just to compare, we got a much better deal for a nicer hotel in Nice.
very close to the center
Some people in the staff were very unfriendly, very noisy street and creepy looking street.
