We were on our way to Paris from Bordeaux and needed to stop. We looked up the town of Chinon, and then hotels. This was a lovely little hotel. It was snowing bad and we were glad to arrive. They gave us a restaurant recommendation and we were set. Breakfast the next morning was good as well. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent hotel and facilities, in the centre of Chinon. Comfortable rooms and facilities. Plenty of free parking just in front of the hotel (off-season). Just a stone's throw away from the castle. Warmly recommended.

Nice old fashioned hotel in a good location, comfortable beds, nice linen and whilst the bathroom suite was dated it was clean, very serviceable, and lovely and spacious. Hair dryer, tea/coffee, tv - all the things one looks forward to when away from home. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice, lovely fresh products and huge selection - well worth taking as an extra. Owner provided information on Chinon without asking for it and was on hand to answer any questions. Local dining seemed a bit limited at this time of year and expensive for what was on offer, but maybe recall France as it used to be! Great location for a short break, or as a stopping off point. Thoroughly recommend this establishment

This hotel was extremely comfortable and Madame was very helpful, the small town of Chinon is lovely with some very good restaurants and the hotel is well located for these amenities. Breakfast is very good and everything is provided from crepes to home made preserves. Would thoroughly recommend

We loved that we could write to them and ask them for a room where we could turn off the radiators at night, open a window and have a cool, quiet, comfortable sleep and they did it!!! The room was huge, comfortable, bed, just what we wanted, lovely staff, cute cat...great location...at the end of our holiday, where we had stayed in three other hotels in three other cities and not gotten what we wanted, this was heaven! We paid half of what we paid, at a discount, for Domaine St Hilaire and that was like sleeping at an etap, this was a gorgeous place to be and will will most definitely be back, and bring family with us to view the Chateaux around the Loire!

The exceptional standard and comfort of Hotel Le Plantagent which though was only classified 2 * had all the warmth and comforts of hotels of much higher standing. The owners/managers have given thought to the well- being of their guests, such as providing a separate small lounge with tea and coffee making facilities which other more expensive hotels could emulate. It was a joy to take breakfast in the conservatory with the garden outlook and the bounteous breakfast choice was a good surprise. Our room was big with a kingsized bed and a single sofabed, and our spacious bathroom had a bath tub. However, it would be wise to ask for a ground floor room if you have a lot of luggage, but since we were only on a week-end break we had no trouble being on the first floor with our luggage. We had a memorable meal at a sea-food restaurant called " L'Oceanic" on 13 rue Rabelais. It was Michelin recommended and deservedly so as the owners/managers take great pride in giving impeccable 5* service in elegant surroundings at their establishment. The food was superb as was the price /quality ratio starting at 24 euros for a 4 course meal. The combination of good hotel and great food at attractive prices made for a wonderful stay in Chinon, which is a gem of a small town with lots of history and things to see.

We were made to feel very welcome and all the staff were very helpful. The tray of tea provided by the English receptionist after a busy morning was particularly delightful! A very good buffet breakfast was provided every morning. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the station, ideal for travelling using public transport.

The location was excellent. The room and bathroom were very large, not just by French standards. Lighting in the bathroom was excellent. There was a small laundry for the use of guests and when the fuse blew when I put in my second load of washing with the dryer running the owner helped me take the dryer load to the hotel dryer to finish drying. This was our fourth visit to Chinon and if we go back again I will choose this hotel.

Very pleasant and helpful staff and comfortable room - we did like all the beams but they did make the bathroom ceiling rather low if you are tall. Wonderful view from our room over the city and towards the castle.

The very comfy bed and really quiet room, which despite overlooking the main square was the best night's sleep we had on the entire trip. Our only complaint was the bathroom had a hand held shower unit to use with the bath.

The staff were extremely friendly. We were greeted and encouraged to have a cup of tea/coffee after our bike ride. The hotel was a stop for other cyclists and therefore made the environment very friendly. Great breakfast.

Best hotel of our 7 hotel/9 night trip. Price was great, location is good, excellent restaurant just next door. Madame at the desk was wonderful with my 5 year old son, put us in a little bigger room for him. She hooked me up with a full 25cl glass when I asked for a wine tasting. Twice! Good breakfast. Parking lot across the street is big and free. WIll stay here again if in the area.

Very friendly hotel in an old building with winding staircase and old fashioned windows. Quiet position but with just the right amount of bustling activity in the hotel. Lovely little garden and particulary good breakfast. A bar area serving local wine etc with big sofas and board games. The staff were extremely friendly and cheerful. Felt like staying in a house rather than hotel. One of the staff is English and pg tips teabags and a kettle are available in the hall!
