We were on our way to Paris from Bordeaux and needed to stop. We looked up the town of Chinon, and then hotels. This was a lovely little hotel. It was snowing bad and we were glad to arrive. They gave us a restaurant recommendation and we were set. Breakfast the next morning was good as well. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice old fashioned hotel in a good location, comfortable beds, nice linen and whilst the bathroom suite was dated it was clean, very serviceable, and lovely and spacious. Hair dryer, tea/coffee, tv - all the things one looks forward to when away from home. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice, lovely fresh products and huge selection - well worth taking as an extra. Owner provided information on Chinon without asking for it and was on hand to answer any questions. Local dining seemed a bit limited at this time of year and expensive for what was on offer, but maybe recall France as it used to be! Great location for a short break, or as a stopping off point. Thoroughly recommend this establishment

I wanted to stay somewhere with charm and typical of the region: Le Plantagenet came up trumps. It was pure luck as I picked it based on the price per room offered and the picture on the booking website. We did not know if the location was suitable for sightseeing or finding somewhere to eat at night, but it was fine: close to the river, several atms, a pharmacy, the post office; it was a short stroll into the heart of the medieval back streets of Chinon, not far from places to eat and the lift up to the castle. The room was up a rickety stair in the annexe (the staircase slopes and we felt it was not safe for both of us to go up with our luggage at the same time!) But the room was good, ensuite, tv and a view of the castle through the attic windows over the roofs of the city. There was a pleasant garden area for guests to sit in and enjoy the evening sun, scented by wisteria and we were allowed to use the hotel's tiny laundry (in a shed in the garden) for free, which was much appreciated. Staff were helpful and cheerful. I would have stayed longer. Nothing negative to say.

Very welcoming staff one of whom was English, so no problems with the language. The room was delightful and very comfortable. Tea and coffee provided. Breakfast excellent. Lots of tourist information available. Would love to have stayed longer. Parking was right outside the hotel in a public car park and the hotel itself was easy to find. Unfortunately noisy guests going to bed in the early hours seemed to be having a party outside our room, but didn't last long.

We enjoyed our stay at Le Plantagenet. It was an older hotel but well maintained. The staff Madam and the English speaking Tina went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The room was large with a firm king sized bed. It was nicely furnished and had a modern bathroom. We enjoyed breakfast (part of our 3 day package) in the glass enclosed breakfast room off the garden. It was a very nice European breakfast with a variety of meats, cheeses, breads, yougart, crepes, jam, fruit, nuts, juice, cereals, milk, tea, and coffee. The location was good easy walking distance to town, the old city, and the castle. Parking in the city lot was free! I would recommend this hotel. We had a large room with one small amoire. I like to unpacke my suitcase and could have used a little bit more storage.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a nice breakfast buffet. It is in a great location with lots of parking available. The room had minimal amenities. If you wanted coffee or tea you had to fetch the service from the hallway. Minimal lights, difficult to unlock your door in the dark. The room has one small desk and chair and a tiny wardrobe. No night stands. The bathroom has a tub with hand held shower mounted low, so you need to sit in the tub to shower.

We loved that we could write to them and ask them for a room where we could turn off the radiators at night, open a window and have a cool, quiet, comfortable sleep and they did it!!! The room was huge, comfortable, bed, just what we wanted, lovely staff, cute cat...great location...at the end of our holiday, where we had stayed in three other hotels in three other cities and not gotten what we wanted, this was heaven! We paid half of what we paid, at a discount, for Domaine St Hilaire and that was like sleeping at an etap, this was a gorgeous place to be and will will most definitely be back, and bring family with us to view the Chateaux around the Loire!

This was a choice made for an interesting location en route from Roscoff to North Lot for an overnight stay. Rooms very acceptable and a wonderful breakfast selection (best ever on our many years travels in France) and great start for the next day's long travel. Offering such a good breakfast but leaving evening mail to be found in the town also ideal for seeing something of Chinon in the evening. Will use again on our travels.

Warm welcome on arrival and a warm room too (there was a cold snap at the beginning of Autumn). Chinon turned out to be an interesting and agreeable place to stop over. The map provided was helpful. Hotel is a little old fashioned and quirky which is quite charming but would not suit everyone. Breakfast adequate. Easy parking when we were there.

The best thing was the welcome from Barbara, the receptionist, she was excellent. The second best thing was the hot drinks making facility, open 24 hours a day - excellent. The third best thing was the breakfast - wide selection - very good. The worst thing was the room - clean but grim, very grim, glad we were only staying one night.
