Score from 447 reviews Very good
This hotel is located at the entrance of Chartres, just on highway N10. It is a 5-minute drive from the center of the city and the famous Chartes Cathedral, and offers free Wi-Fi.
Score from 503 reviews Good
Situated in the heart of a city inscribed as a World Heritage site, Timhotel Chartes Cathédrale has a cosy atmosphere only a few steps from the Gothic Cathedral.
Score from 342 reviews Good
Best value for money, fantastic location I cannot fault it.
Central location is excellent, with plenty of good restaurants within a few hundred metres of the lodgement. You are only metres from the Cathedral. Rooms are very simply furnished, and the ensuite wc/shower is very compact.
Access by car is, to put it mildly, less than straightforward, because of both the complexity of the restricted access remotely bollard controlled one-way road system and the extremely narrow lanes. My GPS -Garmin - struggled to get me in the correct one-way lane twice, and lost me once completely. So be warned. Finally, the continental breakfast is expensive at 8.2 euros.
It is central. 1 minute walk to the cathedral. close to good places to eat for lunch and dinner. The views to the east and south overlooking the city were lovely. Their WiFi works through the whole building. I would definitely come back.
The position was excellent
A bit stingy with breakfast.
Friendly and helpful staff, clean and quirky room, quiet.
The bathroom was very basic and small
Fantastic location and good views; friendly, helpful staff; historic building.
Single beds a bit too small.
Wonderful building and exceptional location. Warm and very friendly welcome.
Location is perfect
We stayed early November and found this place a delight. The historic building was just as you would think ... the cloister area has been enclosed, but you could still see the original roof. Our room was on the 2nd floor (elevator yes) and the view over the rest of the newer town was pretty. The parking lot was large and we literally walked up the short hill and were immediately at the cathedral's side entrance. What a huge church! We spent the day in old town and it was easy to walk back to the hotel at the day's end. We did not partake in the breakfast. Make sure you check their directions as our GPS kept taking us to the other side of the old town and there is only one way in from the hotel. When you come to the blocked street, just press the button on the side of the post and the hotel will let you in. My cousin and I would gladly stay here again. Clean rooms, staff friendly who provided maps, and just the quietness, history, and ambiance were all delightful.
A little difficult to find as our GPS took us to the wrong side of old town. But if you drive around the backside, opposite of the main roads, cross a small bridge, you will find the blocked drive with the button on a post to call the hotel. Lovely place to stay!
The ambience - quiet and peaceful. Welcoming and friendly reception. Good breakfast Very close to the old city. The room is very plain and simple. I liked it, others may not.
Access by car is not easy, I had to reverse down the ramp to the car park area. In the dark and without assistance it could go very wrong.
location, sense of history of the building and friendliness of staff
Not simple to find in the one-way streets
The place, the souroundings Le petit dejuner
Instruction to drive inside centervillage were not clear Could have done a better job
I've stayed several times - it's a good overnight stop on my way to England . It's good value for money & I enjoy the breakfast in the vaulted room . If you're lucky you get a view of the cathedral from the bedroom window .
I used to miss a television but they have them now . It's difficult to get to the first time , but easy when you know .
Location was excellent - right in the heart of Chartres - but access was difficult through a pedestrian barrier and a very tricky turning into the car park which was just about full.
There was no internet available on the night we stayed which was unfortunate.
Location, building, staff, breakfast, parking.
Very hard to find even with our sat nav (which was just confused and a waste of time- Garmin maps). Beds are firm.
Friendly staff Value for money Parking on site Good Breakfast
The beds have French pillows which are larger than the typical English design and take a bit of getting used to.
clean, quiet and peaceful and just around the corner past the cathedral -
Check in is at 14:00. I should have taken a later train.
Location superb. Very fair price. Feel of the place as an old seminary. Basic requirements satisfactorily met. Car Parking In the centre of the city yet very quiet
Pillows square and too large for bed. My feet were six inches over the end as a result. Going out in the rain to get supper. Featureless breakfast
Very close to cathedral and restaurants. Onsite parking although we had to walk to hotel to ask directions to drive in due to narrow and one way streets.
perfect location for going to Chartes and exploring the old city.
The central location was appreciated especially as I was traveling by bicycle and in the rain. The staff were extremely helpful and also recommended sights that I would have missed otherwise
Wow such a lovely building a real surprise! Quiet, tucked away close to the cathedral. Good views. Free parking, Very helpful staff, good breakfast Excellent.
Difficult to find (even with a satnav) if you don't know the city, as there is a lot of "pedestrian only" areas and one way streets. Access to hotel is through a controlled area which once you know is very easy!
The only hotel where you can get to the Cathedral in 5 minutes, walking.
It's difficult to drive into the old city and negotiate the narrow one-way system to the hotel.
Location Breakfast View Value
The setting was great, in a former monastery. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms s good size. Views were wonderful over the city and the place is a stone's throw from the cathedral
Getting to the place on s wet and dark November evening was a nightmare, though the night porter was very helpful when we phoned for directions.
