This hotel is located at the entrance of Chartres, just on highway N10. It is a 5-minute drive from the center of the city and the famous Chartes Cathedral, and offers free Wi-Fi.
Score from 496 reviews Good
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The hotel is 150 metres from the Cathedral, and only 200 metres from the centre of old Chartres, with an excellent selection of restaurants and bars.
The roads within the predominantly pedestrian old town are very narrow, especially for our 3.5 tonne van, but should not present any problems for a normal car
Localisation and very nice service, check in and check out was a pleasure
There is a special smell in the bathroom, breakfast is really poor
No tea or coffee making facilities
Proximity to town centre/cathedral Quietness of the Hotellerie Good parking Warmth of the welcome & helpfulness of the staff
Tea making facilities in the room would be a real bonus
Good value, clean, comfy bed, excellent situation, nice staff.
The location was fabulous for walking but tricky to drive into (you have to speak into an intercom at the entrance to the pedestrian zone and there were lots of people around who didn't expect to have to get out of the way for a car!). The rooms were small and simple, with single beds, but the view and location could not be better. It was just a few metres to the cathedral. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and had excellent English. The breakfast was simple but fine.
The wifi wasn't working when we first arrived but came back on board later on. The shower cubicle was extremely small. It's a pity that there are few features in the building that tell of its age.
Right in the middle of the old historic town. Hotel staff very welcoming. Excellent value for money. Good choice and selection of breakfast in a beautiful area.
Very difficult to find Bathroom needs a few repairs.
Cleanliness, parking, security. Breakfast area was well equipped and had friendly helpful staff.
Check in time was 2 p.m., but staff did not come and open the office until well after 2.30. Internet became so slow as to not function in the evening.
Location, very close to the Cathedral. Staff are very nice and helpful. Lovely room with great view. Great value.
No hairdryer in bathroom - but anyway, the reception gave us one. No kettle - but the kitchen offered me hot water, really helpful.
I liked the proximity to the cathedral and the ambience of that former school of priests. Chartres is a beautiful place as well as hotel location.
Convenient and comfortable at reasonable price
Location, location, location!
It was a bit of a challenge to find at the end of a long journey but well worth the effort.
There was nothing historic about this place, the renovation totally destroyed the historic fabric of the old monastery
Location was excellent and the room as clean.
The Internet was rather slow and hard to get a signal once in the rooms.
I have stayed here many times. The beauty of being somewhere that was once a religious house is that it is simple, peaceful and warm in winter. Its location near the cathedral together with the friendly staff (with excellent English), nice warm rooms with spare pillows, make this an ideal place to stay. Access is challenging but easier if you abandon the satnav and use a printout of the town's one-way streets instead, There is also three-point turn to get into the hotel but it is quite easy as the road is quiet. The breakfast is a little expensive but the choice on offer is enormous and still good value. Highly recommended!
The location could not be better for exploring Chartres on foot.
the capsule bathroom is always something to be desired, but we recognise the restrictions given the existing building. Ok for 1 night.
Best value for money, fantastic location I cannot fault it.
Central location is excellent, with plenty of good restaurants within a few hundred metres of the lodgement. You are only metres from the Cathedral. Rooms are very simply furnished, and the ensuite wc/shower is very compact.
Access by car is, to put it mildly, less than straightforward, because of both the complexity of the restricted access remotely bollard controlled one-way road system and the extremely narrow lanes. My GPS -Garmin - struggled to get me in the correct one-way lane twice, and lost me once completely. So be warned. Finally, the continental breakfast is expensive at 8.2 euros.
It is central. 1 minute walk to the cathedral. close to good places to eat for lunch and dinner. The views to the east and south overlooking the city were lovely. Their WiFi works through the whole building. I would definitely come back.
The position was excellent
A bit stingy with breakfast.
Friendly and helpful staff, clean and quirky room, quiet.
The bathroom was very basic and small
Fantastic location and good views; friendly, helpful staff; historic building.
Single beds a bit too small.
Wonderful building and exceptional location. Warm and very friendly welcome.
Location is perfect
We stayed early November and found this place a delight. The historic building was just as you would think ... the cloister area has been enclosed, but you could still see the original roof. Our room was on the 2nd floor (elevator yes) and the view over the rest of the newer town was pretty. The parking lot was large and we literally walked up the short hill and were immediately at the cathedral's side entrance. What a huge church! We spent the day in old town and it was easy to walk back to the hotel at the day's end. We did not partake in the breakfast. Make sure you check their directions as our GPS kept taking us to the other side of the old town and there is only one way in from the hotel. When you come to the blocked street, just press the button on the side of the post and the hotel will let you in. My cousin and I would gladly stay here again. Clean rooms, staff friendly who provided maps, and just the quietness, history, and ambiance were all delightful.
A little difficult to find as our GPS took us to the wrong side of old town. But if you drive around the backside, opposite of the main roads, cross a small bridge, you will find the blocked drive with the button on a post to call the hotel. Lovely place to stay!
