Everything in the hotel appeared clean and well maintained. -- The staff were helpful and civil. -- The bed was comfortable. -- breakfast was above average for the price. -- Although the lift was very small, it was quiet and efficient. -- We didn't use our car at all during the four day stay. The parking was difficult to find on our arrival but it was secure and accessible directly from the hotel basement so we had no worries and could nip back and forth when we had to. -- The shower room was good apart from a minor intermittent problem with the cistern running constantly after flushing. -- The tv had one channel (cnn) in English. -- The general location suited us. Everything we wanted to see and do was within easy walking distance. Noise and poor ventilation were the two biggest problems. From the front of the hotel, there is a pavement then ten lanes of traffic before a railway line, a broad walkway and finally the river. There were two sets of double glazed sliding doors between our room and the balcony. When closed, these made all the difference. However, the doors are the only means of ventilation. There is no air conditioning and the tiny room quickly became like an oven. We always had to choose between excessive heat and excessive noise. -- Our balcony had a very slight slope forwards and down which (on the 5th floor) I found disconcerting. To be fare, the gradient didn't trouble my partner at all. -- The room was the smallest double room I have ever occupied in a European hotel and there was hardly any place to put anything. -- There was no safe. -- There are no tea making facilities in the room and it is impossible to get a cup of anything when returning to the hotel at night. -- On checking out I was given a bill which was more than I had been quoted by Booking.com but this was quickly sorted out. -- Bearing in mind price and location I would probably go back but would ask for a room at the rear in the hope it would be cooler and quieter ... but who knows?

Friendly staff, wi-fi, cleaned well. Tiny worn-out bathroom, no shower curtain, worn-out night curtains, no day curtains, hole in the wall stuffed with paper towell, noisy street, no breakfast included.

Near Cathedral, protected parking. The staff was friendly and helpful. Noise! There is a huge entertainment park across the river and a major road just in front of the hotel. The noise made sleeping very difficult.

The location was great just a minutes away from the city centre. As we were driving it was great to have access to secure car park. Our room was one with balcony that we have requested overlooking the river. The road in front of the holiday is very busy and some may find it very noisy. For us it was fine as we live in london (we are use to busy roads) and once the balcony doors was closed it was fine. The staff at the hotel very pleasant and we got great good night sleep.

It's close to the tourist sites, easy to find, the staff were very nice and very helpful and give good advices about the city, in brief I liked the staff more than the room but it's not so bad to stay there for a short time. Light was weak in the room so it was annoying to sit in there at night, there wasn't mush to eat for breakfast and the Croissants were slightly burned so it was waste of money. You can hear the people moving in and out of their rooms until late at night.

The fact that the hotel has it's own secure parking so you don't have any worries about your vehicle or it's contents. The hotel is only a 2 star hotel so bear this in mind when booking. It is clean and comfortable with a good hot shower - which is basically all you need for an overnight stop. For a city centre hotel it is good value for money and if you have a room at the front of the hotel you have a balcony and overlook the Seine. As to be expected in a city hotel there is some traffic noise but there are double glazed doors onto the balcony which screen you from most of this. Walking distance to centre of Rouen, so good if you are wanting to explore the city. Very efficient friendly staff who also speak English.

The location was excellent. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the Seine. The Manager came to our assistance one evening. Unfortunately, we did not have enough cash to pay the bill in a local restaurant after our credit card could not be used during a power cut and ATMs were also out of action. The restauranteur accompanied us back to our hotel and the Manager settled the account on our behalf instantly. We were extremely grateful to Mr Pierre Durieu (the Manager) for coming to our aid, as he was not obliged to do so.

The duty manager looked after us really well, letting us in and sorting out parking even though it was well after the end of the check in time when we arrived. A basic and no frills hotel but fine as a place to crash when out all day.

We needed somewhere to stay for one night on our way back from our holiday to Bordeaux. L'hotel Angleterre fits the bill! Reasonably priced, good location and well-presented. We had a family room which was spacious, clean and very well received after a very long drive from Bordeaux. We were going to arrive late (desk closes at 10am so code needed) and the staff could not have been more helpful to us. Our host was attentive and we had a lovely breakfast to start our second part of the journey home to England. Many thanks!
