Campanile Hotel Lille C.H.R.  

Close to the motorway

Not well signposted well I found it hard to find and the restaurant is the only thing you can see from the road and there isn't a big HOTEL sign also the Restaurant wasn't open the weekend I stayed which was a shame as that's one of the 2 reasons I booked a Campanile hotel! Expensive for room only

Room was ok although basic. Breakfast was very good.

reception staff unfriendly and not very cooperative. We wanted somewhere to sit and have a short business discussion (1-2hours). They wanted to charge €130 for a meeting room. Despite having plenty of tables right by reception we were told we couldn't use one of these as they needed to prepare for lunch, despite the fact that we would be finished by 11.30. So we went to another hotel. Also wi-fi is very very slow.

Beds were ok; there was enough parking place and the metro station to the centre is really close.

hotel is situated next to railway: you can hear the trains passing by (however, there should be mentioned this occurs not that much); breakfast was also all days the same (ok, but an egg would be nice)

Nice breakfast (even only until 10:30 as I remember) I agree with other reviewer saying the room is not very very nice, but it is very good value for money esp. If you want to stay one night (with a car) before getting back to uk through calais. Easy drive to central Lille about 10 min.

The staff does not speak English at all!!! It is quite hard even to try to get a internet password.

Rooms rather cramped and not serviced to a good standard. Outside steps dangerous in snow and ice - not cleared by staff.

hotel was what was expected. Clean, convenient to metro. Very good breakfast. good sized bathroom.

Bar was not open and no other food served except for breakfast.

Breakfast was lovely with the orange juice, loved the fact their is a shutter on the window you can close. free parking overal very good

wifi wasnt grate couldnt really connect,more hot food should be available at breakfast ie bacon eggs but the breakfast was lovely you could hear the people upstairs at it.

Value for ,money if booked in advance. Hotel near the main road and train pass very close for a sleep over was very good. Breakfast was spleandid and fresh. Weekends the bar was closed shame would have been a good idea to have the bar open too. Sure will use again when passing the area. Thanks to the stuff.

Convenient for short trip from uk to take dog to rail station

The restaurant was shut - there was no indication on the website that it was shut at the weekend and we did not want to go into town with more travel and dog as it was a short trip. It was my wife's birthday and we ended up at McDonalds!

I was charged more than the price quoted when I booked on the internet!

Nothing. Breakfast was quite good.

Room was not serviced on our arrival at 16.00. Room was not made up on second day after 17.00. Only tv channels were in French Restaurant staff only had a small command of English but only provided a muli lingual menu as a last resort.

Rooms overpriced at 79euros per night. they are extremely basic for the price.

The continental breakfast was quite okay, and the staff, their quite helpful and friendly.

When we arrived after travelling over 600kms that day, so tired, we were greeted by a very abrupt reception staff member, who was very unhelpful. Not great when you are a traveller from another country, who does not speak french. The restaurant was closed, which was not advertised on the website, and the hotel is situated quite a long way from services. In this situation we were hoping to have dinner at the restaurant as we were both very tired. We were not given any local eaterys to choose from as we did have a car.

Good location close to autoroute without having to negotiate Lille's narrow streets.

Because a coach tour was staying we were told we could not have dinner, as the restaurant was entirely taken over for the tour group. There are no other restaurants in walking distance, and since we had specifically chosen this hotel to avoid Lille's narrow streets, we had no choice but to search for local shops and picnic in our room.

Located handily just off motorway and only a few minutes walk from city's excellent metro system

Directly onto motorway to Calais, but not much else going for it, although check in lady did try to be friendly.

Very small, stuffy and hot room. No air conditioning. No hand towels, not hotel policy to provide them. Wanted location for overnight stop before trip back to England, which was good, but location of hotel, Oh dear, directly across the road from the very smelly recycling/local tip. Very noisy during the day due to constant work at the recycling plant. Nothing much in the area except a travellers encampment at the end of the road. The local rail line was at the end of the row of rooms, the major road was at the other, and there were flyovers to contend with as well, although to be fair, the noise abated during the evening. We paid 9.50 euro's for breakfast, which we were charged for straight away when we checked in, not worth it at all, very limited items available, so not worth the money paid, 5 euro's would have been fairer. All in all wouldn't have stayed here if I'd have known all the above, wouldn't stay there again, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Breakfast was good. Convenient for the motorway to Dunkirk - just an hour away. Price was fair.

+ Room was functional and clean (later) + wlan for free (slow but works!) + very friendly service people in the morning (breakfast) + good connection by metro to the town center + good connection to the highways + bed was confortable

- No dinner in the evening (restaurant was closed for no reason) - unfriendly service guy in the evening when asking for the restaurant - thin walls, you can hear everything of your neighbours even if they talk normal - some service people don´t speak english or don´t want to - room wasn´t ready at 12 when I arrived (they did it at 3pm)
