Score from 328 reviews Very good
Walking distance to the train station and old port. Comfortable clean room and bathroom. Friendly helpful staff. Liked the lift, stand back and breath in as the door closes.
There was nothing not to like.
Helpfull staff, breakfast and drinks in hotel.Really close to the center and the old port-walking distance
I'd booked a hotel literally just a block behind across the road and down an alley but I thought it looked dodgy. Thank goodness I booked here. Felt safe and easy to get to, well lit and in a public area. Very easy to get to and from the station and the Old Port. Far enough from both to be safe and open public routes too!
Marseille had really changed since my last visit in 1996. It's dirty, rough and many reports of being unsafe. I never saw or felt anything particularly but the smell of urine is all over, loads of dodgy people hanging around although the Port area was good.
location: 10mins from vieux port Friendly staff
Smelly rooms very small rooms and elevator is for two people no more lot of homeless people around, doesn't feel safe at all. Far away to match the pictures. hotels looks old and unsafe.
Excellent all-you-can-eat breakfast, with eggs, cheese, juices, and a variety of breads. Very friendly and helpful staff. Modern, double-glazed windows kept out the street noise. Perfect location, especially for a first-time visitor to Marseille, as everything is in walking distance and the train station in close by. There are lots of budget restaurants and cafes in the area.
Air conditioning was good, but hard to control the temperature. Doors were secure and fireproof, but made a bang when closing. There must be a way to dampen the sound!
Everything was perfect! The location is great, halfway between the train station and old port. Easy to find, comfortable bed and nice linens. The staff is also very sweet, Marion (receptionist) was very helpful to us and so friendly. It was a wonderful experience!
Marseilles is very dirty, funny, exotic, somehow beautiful :) one of a kind place! Hotel is kinda ok for that price.. Has a a smallest and funniest elevator that i've ever seen :))
insects! i got 20 bites from some weird insect... i guess it was in the bed.. + aunts in the bathroom, and in the room %] horrible bed, very uncomfortable matrace ...
Location is excellent! It is only 5 minutes far from the central station St Charles and about 10 minutes from Vieux Port. The room is neat and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The room lacks of fresh air and looks a bit dark beacause small window is covered by a tree. There is water running out in the bathroom which makes te floor completely wet after shower.
Good location. Very close the port.
Nice staff, clean place and good breakfast
Ideal spot just a short walk to the old port and all the buzz. Nice breakfast facilities. Helpful staff. Quite area.
Looked a bit dingy outside, but once in it was fine.
Nice staff and central location
The area is full of homeless people and smelt of urine! The accommodation is tiny, with not much room for manoeuvre!
There was strange smell in the room, which got better after they istalled a kind of air filter, but after that was removed the smell returned. WLAN on the first floor didn't work and apparently it was impossible to fix it during the 4 days of my stay.
The staff was nice and we got an upgrade to our room. Check in process was easy. There was a tiny elevator but we fit two of us and our luggage in there.
Good location within the city. Public parking just in front. We got a bigger room than the reservation.
Some staff was unfriendly. The elevator is unbelievably small but is funny.
Staff were friendly, great location, windows that keep out the noise outside!
My bathroom could have used an update, but that is easier said than done in such an old building, and it did the job!
Comfortable location - 7-10 mins walk from central railway station, 10-15 mins walk from port & marina. Rooms are not big, but good enough if you want just rest/sleep and go back to the city. WiFi is week in the rooms, but good in the lobby. Neighborhood is a bit creepy, but that's the price for being close to port and central station.
very friendly and accommodating staff, good value and location
Request to give advance notice for breakfast
The staff were friendly. We were allowed to leave our luggage all day after check out.The location to St Charles train station was good.
The location, whilst good for the train and only five minutes walk to the Old Port, has much to be desired. Dirty streets with men occupying the outdoor chairs of the local cafes. The hotel is better value than those closer to the Old Port but still not perfect. The rooms and bathrooms are very small, carpets are a bit grubby in places, the shower small so that the curtain sticks to you while showering. Only one power point in the room. Only one pillow per person.
The receptionist gave us an upgrade to the best room with a lovely balcony and great view of the Notre Dame.
We wish we could have stayed longer!
The position of the hotel is perfectly central, not far from the Vieux Port nor from the Panier, and a Métro station is very near. The quality was perfect for the price we payed, and the breakfast is rich and very good (buffet). The staff is very nice.
We had only one very bad experience, which anyway IS NOT DUE TO THE HOTEL but to the parking. We came to Marseille by car, as the hotel claims to have a near parking place (which is not free, and is not owned by the hotel): it is an underground parking place named Parking Gambetta. We got there quite late at night, the parking was open and 50 metres far from the hotel, so we decided to park our car there: the parking place claims to be closed at night, which is evidently false, as on the next morning we found that someone crashed a window of the car to steal what was inside (not much, and nothig of value). Appearently, this happened to other cars parked there that night, but the guardian of the parking told us that there is no camera. We highly suggest to people going there by car to don't use Parking Gambetta, and to go instead to some guarded parking place like the Station or other (maybe far, but safe).
