For a short break for 4 OAP ladies, this was an excellent hotel. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, the staff were pleasant and being able to self cater when we wanted to was a boon. The setting was peaceful and safe but we needed the car to get to the beach and town. |

Self-catering facilities were simple but excellent, quiet relaxing surroundings - we slept soundly. Ample, friendly bar on site, discreet and helpful staff. Stairs seemed dark - maybe there was a light switch we never found. Staff were unable to tell us about bus services near the hotel - they regretted there were no timetables available. Not their fault, but we were without a car so this information would have helped greatly. |

Helpful staff and clean rooms. Good for a stopover or few days but would not stay for long period as too far from town centre and beach as have young children. |

Peaceful setting, very pleasant sitting on terrace overlooking racecourse. Easy access to town centre. Would have liked a kettle in the room - had to boil water in saucepan. |

We liked the ability to have a meal in the room set with table and four chairs, electric hob, frig and basin. Nice quiet area next to the race course but avoid early May and July/August Race Days. Breakfast is a good Continental. Our rooms had twin beds and two bunks. Good value at the 'Out of Season' rate. Would stay again. No Lounge only a Bar. Check that there are no school trips in residence! |

Over night stay treated like a Travelodge Requested to remove own rubbish, no spoons to help make a drink although a kitchenette was in the room. No shower curtain to protect the floor. |

Convenient location - a ten-minute walk into town. Nice breakfast. Good value as other hotels here are much more expensive. There was a horrible smell of fish in the corridor leading to our room when we checked in (this faded somewhat later). The carpet on this corridor had not been vacuumed for some time, and we found this quite off-putting. The room itself was reasonably clean but basic. The hotel could do with some refurbishment. |

The few game machines for the children, but could have had much more The hotel is in a time warp. The rooms were not nearly 1 star let alone 2 star. The bathroom and toilet were dreadful, not been touched since the 60's. The beds were terrible, either rock hard or in the case of the bunk beds, not support frame at the bottom, you were virtually sleeping on the floor. We only had one curtain at the window, so everybody walking by could see in the room. |
