Hotel Royal Cardinal1, Rue Des Ecoles, 05. Panthéon - Notre-Dame, 75005 Paris (Show map) Pleasant, Score from 471 reviews“The location is perfect for tourists. However, bed size is too small. Also, the hotel does not provide an electric kettle in rooms. Having breakfast in cafe' near the hotel is better than the hotel's bedroom.”

The location was good very close to the metro. The staff were pleasent. There was a laundry around the corner which we found on the last day. The lift broke down. We were a family of 5 and they put us on different floors. We had a room on the 3rd floor and the 5th floor. This was not very acceptable with young children. We were sharing bags and this made life very difficult for us. We were forever going up and down the stairs looking for things. With the lifts not working this made for a very tiring trip. The rooms were not what they looked liked on the website. It was also very noisy at night. Everytime someone used the toilet above you, the noise of the pipes was very loud as the water made its way past your room..

The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, rooms extremely small, dated, with infiltration on the walls + bathroom was ridiculous with a shower nearly a meter above the ground, not good for older people. I found a pubic hair in my bed + a squashed insect stuck to the blanket. My parents room was also dirty. Very noisy at night, not soundproofed at all. Breakfast was a joke, a hard baguette with a little jam and a cup of coffe + milk (and that cost 6 euros!), basically the worst hotel we have ever been in our lives, disgusting.

The staff were very unhelpful and rude. In particular, when we arrived we were told that breakfast was included because we booked online and then when we left they made us pay for it (it wasn't cheap and the quality was below average) even though they admitted it was probably a staff error. The woman was very rude and insistent and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Everything else about this place was very average and the only good thing was the location.

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room and good breakfast served in the room which we enjoyed. Very good location , clean and generally attractive decor. The only negative point was that getting into the shower booth involved stepping high up into it with no hand grip or other aid on the adjoining wall. This could be dangerous especially for an elderly person or anyone who slipped . I ponted this out to the reception who said they were going tyo address the matter and thanked me for raising the matter.

well located for our walking days in paris. good size bathroom and comfortable bed. staff were friendly. Very noisy both from traffic outside and rice paper walls to the guests in other rooms learning to speak French. Would not suggest staying in warmer times as quite warm no aircon.

The location was perfect. The rooms were small for three people. Probably fine for two people. There wasn't any air conditioning and the staff seemed puzzled when we asked for a fan. Beds were comfortable but the cleaning lady forgot to replace our towels. I recommend the hotel to travellers on a budget.

The hotel is well located close to Sorbonne, the Pantheon and other universities. The TV in the room was flat and HD and had also some international channels (about 1-2 per country). The bathroom in the double room was also nice, although the one in the single room was very tiny. The area of the hotel was quite noisy at night, since there are several bars and brasseries close by, but this is not a real pb. The worst thing about this hotel was that my initial room, a single, was extremely small, ugly, poorly lit, very cramped, without electricity plugs, basically a "hole in the wall". This should have been stated explicitly on the site when I did the reservation, especially since the price difference between single and double room is small. This 2 star hotel charges 107 euros for that single "room".. If one wants such a room, there are other hotels in the same area, that charge only 70 euros. I complained about the initial room to the reception and, the very young woman there first told me that the entire hotel was full and she could not give me any other room. After continuing to complain about that horrible first room, she told me that she could give me a bigger room (for a bigger price) only for 1 night, or for part of my stay only, etc...-- however all this was actually false, since in the end I was able to get a double room (for 117 euros/night, which is still a lot reported to comfort) for the whole period... I do not know why it isn't stated clearly on the site about the single rooms, or why are they such an unjustified 107 euros/night... Another pb. was that the hotel was old, and the walls are thin, so it's noisy inside.

Location Room to small Room to hot - could not turn heating off - could not open window as it would have been too noisy Shower was stupid and dangerous - about 2 ft step up and down into it The ensuite was ridculously small, you could not turn around in it and when sitting on the loo your knees touched the wal!! The bed was small and when lying down we rolled into he middle. I could go on...................... Basically th worst hotel that I have stayed in in France.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is just next to a turkish resturant and a small supermarket. It is fife minutes away from Cardinal underground station. It is far away from any citeseeing. Rooms are very small, smells like smoking, and you can hear people in other rooms next to you.

Convenient location, helpful staff and lower cost combined to be an excellent overall value. Rooms were on the small side but we weren't there to stay in a hotel room when all of Paris was outside waiting!

Very good, safe location, next to a metro- station, lot of bakeries, other food- stores and bars in the neighbourhood. Friendly personal. Terrible price- quality relation: small rooms, world- war- furniture, holes in the sheets, broken toilet. perhaps it was clean, but I certainly asked them to change the sheets once again after the first night, since you could'n be 100 % sure... Wouldn't go again...

The location is good. The room was not at all as shown in Booking.com! The hotel has only one room as the one shown in the web page as double room, so you will probably not get it and you will have to stay in an awfull, very small, dirty room. We checked in at midnight and cancelled our reservation next morning and went to another hotel. I would never recommend this hotel. For only a few extra euros you can go to a much better hotel no more than 50 meters away.

The location was excellent. Booked for a business trip as it was close to UPMC. Also liked the TV system which seemed to provide the main TV channels from around the world. The shower didn't work, annoying as I only found out on the morning just before I was about to leave, so nothing I could do about it. Did get a discount on the bill though! The room was small - I had a room for 3 people (double+single beds) which was a good size for me alone! Lift is small.

Nothing Absolutely terrible. Rude staff. Tiny room with exposed piping and dodgy smells. Pay over 100 euros per night but you do not even get shower gel etc. No kettle or cups. Rude and non-caring staff.

Staff were wonderful getting my lost luggage. Room small but clean, Loved the left bank location. English speaking staff helped greatly, room quiet, plenty of good inexpensive food outlets nearby so didn't order breakfast. Booking simple & reliable - no surprises. Thanks hrc.

I tried to find a location close to where friends were staying that was reasonably priced, it fitted the bill. No pillows, just a bolster. Had to ask then a pillow was brought to the room. Good to have free wi fi access but there were down times. Room small for single person, but fine, comfortable and small double rather than single bed which was good.
