Staff, facilities, cleanliness, ... mainly everything was poor.
Arriving in Paris from Turin on the early-morning TGV, it was essential for the hotel to be accessible on-foot from the terminal and also the main cultural areas. Just 15 mins from the Gare de Lyon in the 4th Arrondissement, the Royal Cardinal at No 1 Rue des Ecoles, proved to be an excellent choice. Situated close to The Notre Dame, and with two nearby Metro stops, this great city can thus be enjoyed with ease and pleasure. Outstanding value for one's holiday Euros, attentive and helpful staff, together with room-service breakfast, make this a hotel to be recommended for all travellers to Paris.
Location location and location
- No Breakfast other than room service - Extremely old beds and worn out - Bulbs not working - Noisy place from other rooms - Not very clean - Still stuff left from earlier person living in the room - Way too expensive for a 2 star hotel - Will never go there again
Reception Staff and his co operative behavior , more than the desk manager he was a very good guide .
Rooms & Accommodation we purely waste of money
I particularly liked the breakfast served in the room and I am grateful to Fabio, the receptionist, who was very helpful throughout our stay
British TV channels Location Lift (we were on 5th floor) Shower Safe in room. Pubs and bars nearby
No bedside tables. No tea / coffee making in room Breakfast room only service, 7euro p.p. Order night before. No bar Room bit cramped and dated decor
Worst hotel ever. Very run down. No air conditioning. We could't even open the windows because of the noice outside. The shower had 2 feet up that you need to jump up. Not good for older people. The hotel clerk Flavio try to be funny but very upnotious. Will not recommend this hotel. But the location is excellent.
Terrible room and way too expensive thru Booking.com. I have stayed there twice before but never again.
location is very good
the room is small and plain old bathroom furniture .... reasonable comfort ..
General hospitality facilities
A bit pricey, but I believe at par for accommodation in Paris. Paris is definitely overpriced as compared to other European cities. The Frontdesk was not truthful with offering tickets for a boat ride on the Seinriver. Sold it at no profit and we later found out there were general discounted tickets available. Also charged 10Euro fee to arrange a 40 Euro shuttle to airport. Initially colleague wanted to charge 70 Euro. Reception area quite small, virtually no space for luggage
No area to have breakfast, it is served in your room.
Fabio at the front desk was amazing. He felt like our own personal tour guide and everything he advised us to do worked out exactly as he said. From the boat trip to the transport tickets to the best places to eat. The location of the hotel was great too - we loved the Latin quarter, and the little square just a hop, skip and jump away from the hotel, filled with little terraces, boutiques and eating places. It is also very close to the ever impressive Notre Dam. The hotel itself is extremely quaint - definitey walk up the winding flight of stairs to your room at least once - the walls and carpet is just special, as is the teeny tiny lift. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of hot water, and a small bath, which was perfect for my younger child.
The room was incredibly hot. There was a large window / door so you could see outside but we had to close it at night because of the noise. The only ventilation was a very small window in the bathroom. My whole family were completely dried out by morning, I felt a bit like a prune. We also had very noisy neighbours on the one evening who decided to talk very loudly at 2am, so while the outside noise was completely blocked out, the walls were very thin. Yes, the bathroom needed some paint, and the room could have been bigger, but I would not complain about that - it fits the price and the feel of Paris, and that was more important to us. If you want spacious and modern, you probably wouldn't want to rest here.
Small room elevator did not work terrible and unpolite staff internet stoped many times
Fabio was very helpfull and with our limited french this was invaulable. Great location
no fridge in our room
Rude, condescending staff
Locality near to 2 Metro stations. Friendly helpful staff
Good position means that the rooms experience a great level of traffic noise. No aircon means balcony door has to be opened hence room is very noisy
Hotel location is excellent in walking distance to Notre Dame and Louvre and numerous small restaurants.
Toilet is smallest possible, less than 2 square meters surface. Having in mind hotel location, I would still recommend stay at this hotel.
Not a lot
close to metro , good restaurant , walking distance to few historic places...
smell in bathroom!!!
Although not in the heart of the more sought-out areas, the hotel is within walking distance of the river near the Ile St. Louis and the Sorbonne and one block from the metro, so location is really pretty good. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is an acceptable restaurant on the ground floor (not connected with the hotel) with a lot of choice for lunch or even dinner, and if you explore you'll find there are restaurants nearby.
The hotel is on a busy intersection, but since we were on the 5th floor that didn't bother us. The biggest problem was the room. It was small, but unless you were going to spend a lot of time in your room (and why go to Paris then?), that could be acceptable. The real problem wasn't the size itself but the lack of space for luggage and personal items. There was an armoire with hanging space but only two shelves, one very high up. There was no other shelf or drawer space. Even the night tables had no drawers or shelves. And you couldn't even live out of your suitcase, because there were no surfaces or luggage racks to put suitcases on. We were at the end of a trip and didn't have a lot of clean clothes to keep folded and available, but the rooms could be a problem if you have a lot of stuff to keep in good shape at the beginning of a trip. This was the only substantial complaint we had.
The convenience of transportation.
No television for entire stay.
Windows made room sound proof from noisy street
Hour Long check in as clerk at desk very chatty and would not let us go to our room until he finished saying everything he wanted to. We told him we were hungry and tired from a long day but he felt the need to burden us with too much information. He was very intense. No ceiling fan or room ventilation
Location, near Cardinal Lemione Station. Fabio and the day-time front desk lady were very helpful.
Room was above an all night bar with SCREAMING and music until 4:30 AM. I had to try to sleep with my fingers in my ears. The elderly lady working between shifts, was unfriendly and not at all helpful.
Very nice, well kept place. Nice to have the elevator! Near some great restaurants.
the first night was very noisy, until we realized, the second night, that the windows ( streetside) kept out most odf the noise. A fan in the room would have helped with ventilation since the window needed to be kept shut.
