Score from 175 reviews Very good
Lovely room, larger than normal. The balcony had a great view from it.
On a couple of occasions young people returning from night clubs, in the early hours, were very loud.
Staff very attentive especially in dining room. Food was good. Location excellent
Spa area requires attention hot tub in state of disrepair. Pool cold. Bar area not really conducive to mingle in.
Good location with only a short distance to the ski lift. A good selection of breakfast and Evening meals and of excellent quality. Very friendly staff at reception and particularly in the dining room and bar. A very pleasant and comfortable stay. Thank you.
Rooms and beds (single) small. Leisure facilities need updating. No receptionist available when we departed (05:00 am) - as I needed to resolve an error with the final bill.
breakfast location friendly staff
The distance to the slopes.
Location to ski slopes was good, and we just used the ski rental in the shop next door which was very convenient. Appreciated the ski storage and luggage storage, as we were there to ski for 2 days but stayed at the hotel for just 1 night. From previous comments we were a little wary about service, but we had no issues at all. We took a room for 3 adults and it was clean and comfortable and we liked that there was a small balcony. We had low expectations for the breakfast but it was actually a pretty impressive buffet of hot and cold options. Regrettably we didn't have enough time to try the spa facilities - next time!
We didn't notice until after we booked that there wasn't parking available - luckily we were there in low season so we found street parking not too far away. Otherwise, there were just a couple of small problems in the room: the roller shade didn't securely close and suddenly flew up in the middle of the night, scaring us senseless; and the jets in the bathtub didn't work. Since we were only staying 1 night we just notified the desk about the problems at check-out.
- L'Alpe d'Huez 1800 in-town location convenient to restaurants and shops - Ski and boot drying room - Panoramic view from 6th floor - Convenient, delicious breakfast - Roomy, functional bathroom - Helpful staff
- Shuttle didn't quickly get us to the gondola needed to get to Pic Blanc - quicker to walk - Hot tub needs to be replaced; not hot and jets didn't really do much
Easy for the free Strawberry bus to the slopes and Bens bus to Grenoble airport. Easy for the town centre restaurants, bars, bank, shops etc.. Friendly staff who spoke good English. Good shower & drying radiator for ski clothes. Room was always warm. Nice South facing aspect with mountain views. We didnt use the pool/spa but lots of guests did. It also has a good ski storage area.
No tea/coffee in room but this is the same for all hotels of this class. Take a travel kettle etc.. Had to wait til 5pm to check in but we were allowed to store our bags so enjoyed the day anyway.
The staff were efficient and friendly.
We were half board and the evening menu was very limited. Breakfast was very poor. The fact that the hotel cost more than some 5* Hotels we have stayed in highlighted the poor value for money.
The food was excellent and restaurant staff extremely friendly and helpful. The massage was excellent. The room was comfortable and clean and reception staff extremely helpful. Cake at 4.00 in the bar was a good touch.
Regrettably on one day the room service staff appeared to be under a lot of pressure. When we returned to our room at 5.00pm to an unmade up room a request to a staff member for the room to be made up was regarded as rude - she complained that we did not know how difficult her job was and that she was due to finish at 5.30pm! Took the shine off what had been a very good day. The rest of the week there were no recurrences so she must have been having a bad day. Not good for the hotels reputation though
Spa, swimming pool, sauna, massage. Reception staff helpful and friendly.
The cleaners seemed unable to tidy rooms/ make beds in time to allow us to return from skiing to a made-up room
The location - very centered.
Receptionist: could not find my booking when we arrived (made thru booking.com); Reception Hall: Far too small for the hotel size; Restaurant: A terrible experience in terms of food (simply uneatable)… Staff is nice and polite but not highly qualified. Swimming pool - very cold and the Jacuzzi (you do not even want to think about using it as water not clear at all - to say the least). Room was extremely hot - never sweat like that in my entire life when sleeping (due to electrical heating set too high). We are going very often to the Alpe d'Huez but first time in that hotel – really bad experience. Definitively, not to be renewed! :-(
Lovely staff who were friendly, helpful and welcoming.
There was far too much noise from the street below from drunken British youths. I couldn't sleep at night until I got ear plugs from the pharmacy!
