The staff at Best Western Saphir Lyon were helpful and made every attempt to rectify the problems we had with the room. The restaurant was nice. We only had one major issue with the Best Western Saphir Lyon and that was the revolting state of the bed. Upon pulling the sheet back we found more than ten long black hairs and also some awful looking yellow stains in the middle of the bed. When we bought this to the attention of the staff member who came to see he informed us that we were not meant to pull that sheet back and sleep on it, instead we should just sleep on under the duvet on top. Even if this was the case I would urge anyone staying to check under the sheet. Look at the mattress protector as these are not changed with each new patron instead a new sheet is simply put on top of the last persons 'mess' to hide it.

The staff were very accomodating and they can communicate well in English.. Rooms are clean and well organize, have a flat screen tv, but don't have any english channel. Continental breakfast is very good. There is a train station nearby that will lead you to the center. Two thumbs up for this hotel.

I have stayed at the Saphir Lyon many times. I love the relaxed atmosphere and wonderful helpful staff. My lack of French has never been a problem, even when some of the staff did not have a word of English! No sheltered and seated smoking area! That would put the cherry on the top.

The hotel was a good value. Rooms were clean and cheerful, the staff was generally helpful. The "Express Breakfast" is a nice option. Location was good for driving - near A6 - and we were able to park in the garage for our entire stay. It is on the opposite side of the Fourvière hill from the center of Lyon, so walking isn't practical. But the Métro station is close and the system is modern and efficient. Rooms could be improved by adding safes and refrigerators.

Cold dirty and in a very bad location . Friendly staff, you need to use underground parking and dont travel out alone. The breakfast hall at 0735 didnt have a clean table (full of used plates ) and there wasnt any nice looking food left . So i didnt try breakfast.

The staff were friendly and professional, the beds were comfortable and the bedding was high quality. The location was very disappointing - the website said that the hotel was Lyon central but in fact the location was suburban and fairly bleak. My room looked out on high rise blocks of flats and concrete - no trees, parks or even shops. You had to take the metro to reach the centre. My other disappointment was the cost of the rooms (I booked 2 rooms) On the website it said 89 Euros per night, the cheapest quote for my chosen dates. I assumed this would be the cost for every night but when I got my bill two nights were charged at twice that price ie over 170 Euros per night. Making the hotel the same price as all the other hotels. On checking my email from the hotel I saw that they had quoted the higher price on the email before my arrival. However I assumed that the charge would be the same as the quoted price when I booked and I should have checked. The hotel did not act illegally in charging me twice the original price for two of the nights but I feel that Booking.com should make it clear that the price quoted online is not accurate for all the nights and that the actual price can be over twice the quoted price. There did not seem to be any reason for the higher price nights. My final bill for the three nights (two rooms) was eye-poppingly high and therefore I would never stay in this hotel again. I would rather pay 180 Earos a night for a hotel in a central convenient location.

Great Bed!!! Reception staff very very obliging and helpful, Old town about 45 minute walk along the river bank. Ease to get out by car, if you are heading towards Dijon. A little difficult to find, no fridge, carpets could do with a clean, restaurant was cold and clinical as were the waiters, however you are left with not many other alternatives, as there are very few restaurants/cafes in the area. In short, the hotel is acceptable, but avoid the restaurant.

Clean, comfortable, quiet, and a staff that is used to Americans who think they are still in the US. The pizza place next door even has English menus! We were able to walk to the Roman amphitheater and cathedrals from the hotel, but would recommend the metro to anyone with coins (currency not accepted by Metro ticket machines).

The price was very reasonable although the room and hotel was basic and it wasn't very central to accessing the city and tourist attractions. The room had a kettle which was great however a fridge would also have been very useful - the room was spacious and a fridge could have easily fit. There's a minimart a short walk from the hotel which is very convenient - especially if there had been a fridge. The smell wafting from the hotel's restaurant into the hotel foyer throughout the day was very uninviting to both the hotel - and not at all encouraging to want to dine at the restaurant.

Best Western Saphir Lyon is in an ideal location for taking the Metro into the city. It takes only a few minutes to walk from the hotel to the station - where you can buy a day ticket to use as many times as you like - not only on the Metro but on any other forms of transport in Lyon. Getting around the city is made easy. When we made our initial reservation - we got a special weekend rate - but there was so much to see - we booked a further 2 nights - even though the tariff was more - it was worth it!

We only stayed for a one night stop over - this was ok for this purpose Only would reccommend if staying just one night as stop over, we were so tired we decided to eat in hotel for evening meal - there was very limited choice especially for children. Also when we booked with you it said that breakfast was included, we were told that our children aged 12 and 14 had to pay for breakfast.

Easy access to the motorway. Good value for the money. Staff helpful. Room was exactly as expected (except extra beds which were supplied after we notified reception). Double bed very big and very comfortable. There were no details about car parking. We were given beds, towels etc as there were 3 of us staying, while the booking clearly stated 5 people. Room allocation mix-up perhaps?

Excellent value for money everything was first class. We think that the name should be more prominent from the end of the road as our sat nav brought us in the wrong end of the one way street.

The hotel was comfortable and quiet for a city location. It provided good transport access to the main routes and was close to the local facilities. Secure parking was a must for my stay and this was very convenient to use. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The resteraunt lacked appeal and the one meal taken there was not of a good standard. However, there were several good alternative places to eat nearby.

I liked the cleanness of the room, the air conditioning worked perfectly and the beds were very comfortable. Everything in the bathroom worked well too. It was closed to restaurants and to roads to go out. I would have liked to have a fridge and a safety box in the room.
