The building is wonderful but in my opinion is lacking in a few minor ways. I did not like that the hotel had a casino, neither did I like that my partner and I (on a surprise family holiday) were given a voucher on arrival to use in the casino, which had a picture of another woman on it in a fairly low cut dress; my partner did not respond well to the voucher and I consequently lost a lot of points, which I had spent a lot of money to earn.
The rooms were very nice in many ways (very spacious, great bathroom, amazing view of the lake and mountains from the balcony and very comfortable bed), but the bedroom interior design was relatively a little bit cheap looking, which was surprising given the potential and that the rest of the hotel was so grand.
The cost of items in the room fridge was too high (I think about 6 euros for a can of coca cola for example), and we were charged 4 euros for 2 very small bottles of water left in our room, which we thought were complimentary. This is a fairly common problem in hotels in my experience but it's still annoying / borderline insulting to be charged such a premium, or be forced to find a supermarket after a long day.
I am only disappointed because I paid so much to stay at the hotel (£200+ per night), therefore I expected everything to be great.
Having said that despite the minor problems I would still rate the hotel around 9.5 out of 10 because other facilities were very good, the food was great, the staff were excellent and the location was perfect.
I enjoyed my stay but will only return to this hotel if the price drops to £100-£120 or less per night, which I doubt it will given the hotels location, and lack of equivalent competition in the area.
Great location and friendly helpful staff. Everybody at the hotel spoke English and we're happy to do so. Really grand and wonderful building.
The people in Annecy are amazing, incredibly friendly, welcoming and super athletic.
