Charming old town, narrow streets, lots of shops, many, many selling local produce, foie gras, etc. Centrally located to visit the highlights of the Dordogne. Many places to dine, seemingly pretty much the same menus everywhere except in a couple of higher end restaurants. It is hilly. Parking very hard, everywhere is payant, get the APP.

Sarlat was an amazing town and a great place to visit. Plenty of restaurants and bars, friendly people and lots of history. We could have stayed longer but only to explore the surrounding areas.
Will definitely stay again

Politeness and a smile opens many doors, I don't speak French well, but was very pleased at how friendly and polite the people were. I mean all the people not just the ones that are getting some financial benefit from you.
Basically, be nice, don't be an ass, and you won't get treated like one.
Take a moment to look at how many men these small towns lost during WWI, must have been devistating.

The best thing of Sarlat is the location: It's easy and fast to make day trips to the multiple interesting location in the area.
Food offering is quite unified between the restaurants, it gets a bit boring after a while. Having said that there are few really good restaurants but it takes effort to find them.

Very much a tourist town but none the worse for it.
Very much a tourist town but none the worse for it. Wonderful architecture, plenty of restaurants and local specialty shops, however found it difficult to find anywhere that you could stop, have a glass or cup of something and watch the world go by. Great base for trips along the Dordogne valley and the amazing towns and chateaux.

It’s a beautiful village. The people are warm and welcoming.
It’s a beautiful village. The people are warm and welcoming. We try to speak a little French and they always help to communicate with a friendly smile where they can. It’s a very easy village to navigate and walk around and full of wonderful cafes, restaurants and shops galore. Amazing. The Boulangeries are fabulous and we bought breakfast from them every morning. Breads and cakes too. Awesome.

Thank you for the kindest hosting family who prepared this apartment for the guests.
Beds were very comfortable. Everything was very clean. We felt at home. Kitchen was really well-equiped so we had dinner in the apartment. It was an experience of living in the heart of the beauiful Sarlat la Caneda. The kindest owners helped us about the parking and more.
We re hoping to come back.
Set on a hilltop with a fine view, walking distance from the centre of Sarlat, the hotel is peaceful and comfortable with friendly, welcoming staff. we enjoyed dinner which was well presented and well cooked. we entertained friends for lunch the next day and the formule déjeuner was ideal and high quality. Great value for money. much to be preferred to a stay in the centre of Sarlat.
The location of the apartment is excellent with very easy access to the old town of Sarlat-la-Caneda. The centre of town is a short (5 minute) walk away. We were able to park next door to the apartment for a very reasonable price, which was well appreciated. The apartment itself was well appointed and had most amenities.
Mme. Costa picked me up from the train on arrival, and drove me 30 minutes to a nearby town to catch the train when I left. The hotel was like staying in a castle, so beautiful. The location was perfect for exploring the town. I was sorry to miss the opening of their Brasserie on April 8 for the season.
The property is superbly located in the center of the medieval town close to many excellent restaurants. The owners were fabulous, helped us with restaurant reservations, met us at the hotel, and had many suggestions, and had a surprisingly well stocked kitchen for us. The room itself was wonderful.
loved the decor. the room was a lot more spacious to what we have been used to during our travels across France. and the bed was super comfortable ! also loved the fact that there was free parking just up the street - super convenient. even in august we always found a park easily
Olivier and his wife were outstanding hosts, we felt at home in their beautiful house. We were in France for one month, stayed at Hyatt, Westin, Le CEP and other fine hotels, Olivier's house tops all for beautiful setting, closeness to action, cleanness....we felt at home there.
A lovely hotel just a very short walk away from the old town of Sarlat. The room was enormous with a large bed and sofa bed, a well-stocked kitchen, and two toilets. It felt very good value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful hotel right in the centre of Sarlat . Extremely friendly welcoming staff , fabulous accomadation and super breakfast. Sarlat is a beautiful old town with fabulous local shops and an enchanting Christmas market .
Our hostess, Patrice, was a jewel!
This is a lovely old villa with a few quirks and that is part of what I love about France. Our room and bathroom were huge and the views from it's windows were spectacular.
Very charming small hotel. The building is medieval, recently renovated and refurnished, in the heart of Sarlat. Parking at a reasonable rate in a garage a 5 minute walk away. Friendly and helpful young staff.
Clean, comfortable and well equipped room. Bathroom was modern. Hotel is beautiful and well placed for exploring. Visible beams on the top floor corner rooms were incorporated beautifully in the room design.
The room was excellent and the staff was extremely friendly. Right in the middle of Sarlat yet very peaceful and quiet. The hotel parking (paid) was an easy 200 metre walk.
The proprietor was extremely helpful with dinner suggestions and also emergency room information when I needed stitches. Hotel was nice and quiet but still close to town.
Hotel in a good location, with an easy walk into Sarlat old town. Free parking onsite. Rooms a good size and very clean. Staff all very friendly and helpful.
Excellent breakfast, beautiful property and friendly helpful hosts. Would have loved to stay longer! An ideal place for adventures in the Dordogne valley.
