5 place du Trinquet, 64220 Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (Show map)
“Don't rush in and out of St Jean Pied de Port on your Camino walk. Take time and spend a day or two here. It's got lots of little shops & everything a Camino hiker might need - walking poles, rucksacks, rain capes, etc - and it's got lovely cafes and restaurants. You could book 2 nights in Itzalpea and walk up to Orisson or La Vierge d'Orisson without your backpack on Day 1 and then get a taxi back to St JPP; and a taxi the following day to start Day 2 from Orisson. This means you get to do the steep climb to Orisson backpack free - for a gentler start to the Camino.“
