Nothing we didnt like but pool could be a bit cleaner (leaves and bugs and a few hairs encountered during my late afternoon swim) but didnt impact our stay of one night. the room was a little unloved (lots of scuffs from luggage on the walls, mirror in a strange place too high up in the bedroom, the bed was two singles pushed together which I hate when you book a double.) However the really important things were good - these are minor details that shouldnt put you off staying here.
the 47 euro menu at the hotel for dinner was truly excellent (I manage several chefs and small luxury boutique hotels for a living so am not easily pleased!). Having already stayed at several more expensive relais & chateaux hotels on our way up through Spain from Portugal I wasnt expecting much as had yet to be wowed by food on our holidays. the food here totally surpassed my expectations, great service by friendly waiters (we speak french so maybe that helped), lovely summery variety in the light courses - chilled courgette soup with light fluffy goats cheese mousse, the tenderest beef cheek I have ever had with light broth and minute perfectly cooked veg pieces & gnocchi, interesting pre dessert, very good pudding (although would have liked it to taste a little more of the speculoos flavour it was supposed to be - but still very good). v good wine recommendations by the waiter & excellent house champagne. All in all worth staying for an excellent dinner and the lovely walk to the pont du gard to do some sightseeing. large pool & good air con., bathroom water pressure good, clean, reasonable pillows, decent towels, slippers provided, no noise from road despite being right on it (would pay more for garden / pool view next time).
