Location to transport and car hire. Staff were very helpfull.
Room was a little small for us.
The staff is very friendly, helpful. The room is clear. The breakfast is good and the breakfast-room is a snack bar, which is very lovely.
location brilliant for bus, tram and train. Facilities as described but service and friendliness excellent. Food in brasserie very good. Really pleased I chose this hotel for a last minute break.
Good basic hotel for the money in a handy location across from the station-lovely breakfast.
Located across the road from the train station. The owners are the best. They gave us lots of information on the area and just made the experience that much better. The restaurant served a great breakfast and lunch.
very clean and tidy room, very polite staff
The location is ok but a bit far from city centre, the breakfast was just basic
Helpful staff. Conveniently located opposite the station and a short trip by tram into the centre of town. A very clean hotel above a well run bar/restaurant.
As usual there were a few homeless people in the station area but they were not a nuisance or a threat.
Our overall La Consigne Hotel was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone! The Staff is beyond excellent and very accommodating! My observation is they take a personal interest in everyone walking in their door! They made us feel very special and relaxed! Julien, Jonathan, and Regis certainly have it down when it comes to customer satisfaction! Great Job! While the hotel is in a more commercial and business environment, we found the location to be super convenient. The hotel's rooms are very neat, clean and seemed to have been recently remodeled. Our room was perfect! Overall, I would place our overall experience right at the very top! We look forward to returning!
There are no negatives!
Easy assess from the train station- just across the street. Wonderfully helpful staff. Immaculately clean. Easy continental breakfast. Perfect place for younger travelers on a budget. In hindsight, we would have rather had AC and a iquiet room closer to restaurants and shopping. We did quite a bit of walking and I was a bit concerned about vagrants in this area. No one bothered us, but I would stay closer to downtown if I came back to Caen.
No air conditioning and the fact that there was no AC was not mentioned in the description. They need to put some hooks on the backs of the doors so there is somewhere to hang towels, a jacket, a purse, etc. With windows open for air, the street noise was pretty loud. A big German Shepard in the lot below our window barked a lot. WiFi was not reliable in the room.
Staff we're very helpful
Room very small . The walls in the rooms must of been very thin you could hear the other guest moving about
Hotel was right across the street from the train and bus stations, as well as local public transit. Staff were extremely accommodating. Although about to close for the evening when we arrived after a delay due to the railroad strike, they served us dinner. Food was good, promptly served, and Grimbergen dubbel on tap (my husband's all-time favorite beer) was wonderful! Breakfast was generous and included the best baguette we had in 10 days in France! Oh, yes, the price was right, too, for this tiny gem! Thanks!
Ease of local car parking. On main road routes to other places of interest. Friendly English speaking staff. Good food. Despite a busy location (near railway station) there was v little noticeable train/traffic noise. Proximity to shops, city centre & historical sites.
Occasional loud barking from the hotel dog.
Very helpful, friendly staff, excellent service, nice food in bar downstairs.
Late check in was not a problem. Room was very clean.
No lift. We would like an extra pillow. The sound carried from the room next door.
Staff was exceptional. They were very helpful. We had just visited Paris and I didn't have a very good opinion of the French people. The staff here changed my opinion.
There is only on street parking but it wasn't much of a problem. There was also no elevator but these were minor inconveniences compared to the helpfulness of the staff and I would stay there again.
One of the cleanses places I've every stayed at very impressed
- Extremely clean room and bathroom - Furniture and accomodation were plain but nice and practical - Very friendly staff (my train was late so I arrived past the limit time for arrivals ; I phoned from the train to warn the hotel and someone was kindly waiting for me when I finally arrived)
Perfect location across the road from the train station. Nice basic breakfast. English spoken at reception. Train was severely delayed, so I emailed the reception and they waited for me after 10 pm to check-in. Room just like you see in the pictures, clean, recently refurbished excellent condition. Definately good value for the money as per European standards.
Wifi was weak in some areas.
Nice shower etc very clean, and clean towels each day. staff very helpful. area a bit scruffy but very good for all transport links.
Beds too low for me and not enough pillows, room slightly cramped.
The staff! The hotel is very attractive for its location. The staff is very accommodating and responsive to our needs.
Area around hotel was a bit dodgy at night
very clean rooms, helpful staff
Staff kept reception open for our pre-advised late arrival. Room small but comfortable and spotless.
Nothing at all.
The proprietor was very welcoming. This is not a luxury hotel, but the best has been made of their facilities. Room simple but comfortable; though quiet, bar was pleasant. We had to leave before 7 am. but the landlord was up to give us directions to our destination.
Being beside the main station, it was outside the town centre.and a bus ride to the old town, restaurants & good cafes.
