A lovely private farmhouse in Burgundy now run as a guest house with four rooms of high quality in a half-timbered barn, situated in a quiet rural setting yet only a few minutes from exit 9 of the A39 autoroute, about half way between Lyon & Dijon. We were the only guests on our overnight stay, en route between the Riviera & UK, but were made very welcome by the very nice & personable hostess & her husband. The weather was wet & windy, & so we were not able to explore the attractive gardens, but the room was immaculate & warm, with a well equipped bathroom and good WiFi access.
Timing of dinner & breakfast were left entirely to us. We were given a tray of tea in the lounge after arrival, & an aperitif before dinner, when we were joined by our host. The lounge itself was warm, cosy and with plenty of reading matter, videos & television if interested in French channels.
Dinner itself was cooked in the kitchen adjacent to the dining table, was beautifully set out and chosen by our hosts, and was of high quality. The cheese board was huge and with a good wine list for a small establishment. I opted for a Jura chardonnay, with which we were not familiar, and only because this turned out not to our taste it was immediately and without question substituted.
Breakfast was excellent and the pancakes made by Dominic were delicious, in addition to ham, cheese & homemade jams.
When there are more guests, especially on season, the meals are served on the communal table.
We would highly recommend this lovely farm and welcoming hosts. Note only cash payment is possible. We would certainly stay here again if in this area.
Nothing, though cash payment is a slight drawback for some.
