Relaxed atmosphere. Friendliness and professionalism of staff. Always extremely helpful. Although on a fairly busy road, the Hotel was surprisingly quiet once inside. Returned home feeling thoroughly rested. We had anticipated that the Hotel would be closer to the centre of Villefranche. We had been looking forward to some leisurely strolls in the evenings but instead had to make use of the car to reach restaurants.

Beautiful location at the top of the hill with Nice on one side and Villefranche on the other. We had beautiful views of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat from our hotel room as well as the lounge/kitchen area. It was clean, our room was large, and it felt very homey There was free wi-fi in the place but we were unable to get a signal and had to go to the lounge area to check our email

The best thing was the service. Eric and Laurence, the owners, are super friendly, as are the other staff. The value for the money is excellent too, because they don't try to slip extra costs on the bill along the way; everything we enjoyed was in the advertised price. Great location, great room, great breakfast, awesome views!

This is a small hotel in the village of Villefranche. The staff were very nice. Breakfast was great. Our room overlooked the coastline and the Sea. Location was great. On the road from Nice to Monaco. Great little restaurant with Italian twist just up the street.

Very little attention to the client, the staff speaks English very poorly or not at all. As a family in three we slept in a prefabricated bungalow-type wooden hut destined for four persons which is located next to the swimming pool (is seems it was the changing hut before). In the 'hut' itself the airconditioning is placed over one of the beds blasting hot air straight down into the dormants bed. I had to get up several times to regulate the heating. The bathroom was freezing cold unless we left the door open to the main room but that would have created a nasty draft of air. Parking outside the hotel on the busy road was difficult to find (and this during the winter season); - not children friendly. We did not try the breakfast but had four coffes which, very accuratly were put on our bill. No courteousy. This place is not worth the money and we will certainly not return.

The service is what we liked the most. It was like a family atmosphere. We enjoyed the ambiance at the hotel. Internet connection, was not very reliable and not easy to access.

Beautiful view. Away from the crowds. The delightful couple managing the hotel were extremely helpful, friendly and tolerant of my poor French. We couldn't have asked for more. Breakfast seemed a bit pricey but we didn't try it.

Fantastic view, lovely setting. Close to Nice, Monaco Poor air conditioning and location from the village. We are very fit people but found the walk down to the village and back to be too much- 633 stairs. There are buses but often a long wait and parking is a problem so we didn't take the car. Even the hotel is on several levels. After our 8 day bike trip all the stairs were too much.

It's quiet - no noise of traffic and no disturbances whatsoever, beds were comfortable, nice views, staff were helpful. €12 for breakfast is very expensive as is €3 for a cup of tea (seems to be standard in Nice) so we never had either. It's annoying when you make the effort to speak French and the staff speak back to you in English (wasn't always the case). Disappointed with the location as it didn't feel like we were actually in Villefranche-sur-Mer. Didn't get to see any of Villefranche as we just got the bus into Nice each day instead and that took up most of the day. There is nowhere to go to nearby in the evening. Staff were helpful when I needed them and were able to answer any questions but it would have been nice if they were forthcoming with information on things to do in the area and nearby tourist attractions. Basically, if you wanted any information, you had to ask.

The owners were gracious, friendly and helpful to all. They are very good at helping non-French speaking guests. The facility was bright, cheerful, and spacious and overlooks the Mediterranean Sea from high on a hill. We had breakfast each day on their outdoor terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. A lovely breakfast and lunch are available for purchase at the hotel. The room includes a good hair dryer. Many services are located conveniently within a two minute walk, such as an ATM, pharmacy, patisserie, restaurants, gas station, bus stop, etc. The hotel is on the middle Corniche and so requires a 10-15 minutes walk downhill, including a lot of steps, so if one is not in good physical condition, they might need a car. This was actually enjoyable for us. We did not drive on the tiny, hilly roads in VilleFranche sur Mer as it would be very challenging. Therefore we always took a taxi back uphill to Le Pirate from town.

Being with the locals. Having coffee at the local cafe. The other hotels are closer to the water but you have all the tourists. The walk to the beach is not far if you like exercise. We had a car but still choose to walk down to the water for dinner.

Very friendly owners. Room was very clean with ''comfy'' bed. Nice pool to relax in the afternoons, with no problem with available sunbeds. A good breakfast seved on the outdoor terrace and nice to be able to have poached eggs (perfectly cooked) on toast for a change from the standard continental faire!

Friendliness of owners, breakfast on the terrace, drinks on the terrace, the pool, clean room, the view, all of it really Not a criticism of the hotel but be prepared for a steep walk down into town and back or use taxis (€15 - €20 each way) or use a car. As I say not a fault of the hotel because the location and view are superb. If I came again I would still be prepared to walk or use taxis.

I've stayed there before and it was just as good the second time around. I love the owners and they always encourage me to work on my French. The walk up the hill but I already knew that.

The staff here are amazing, very helpful and they speak excellent English. The facilities are clean and tidy and the pool area has plenty of space. A wee bit far away from the main town, but there are regular buses for 1 euro
