The only downside would be for people with mobility issues as the stairs are very steep.
Loved the quirky historical building overflowing with personality and charm. The setting is very eclectic as the property is compiled of renovated rooms and whimsical additions. Have an open mind and be receptive to the character and uniqueness of this very place and you will just love it.
Because we loved the property and the darling little firecracker of a woman who runs it we were forgiving of the shortcomings that you can always find. Staying at this property was a unique experience, so glad we discovered this amazing town. Would go back in a flash given the opportunity.
Owner very accommodating. Friendly. Location. Good if you wish for old world experience.
Too many steep stairs to get to top room. Not advisable for people with mobility issues. Lack of privacy when returning to room.
Great hostess Wonderful Breakfast Charming rooms and history Easy walk to Harbour
Parking difficult Stairs are a challenge
We spent 2 nights in this interesting 300 yrs old hotel. Our room was on the top floor (no elevator), very spacious and full of adventurous crooks and crannies. One even expected a ghost might come out of the paneling in the dead of night, but alas, no such thing happened. Perhaps because our hostess was endowed with such high spirit. Breakfast was a pleasant happening as was our whole stay in this lovely town. The hotel is well situated, practically "down-town", and a car may be parked (for free)in back of the church just down the street.
Although it didn´t bother us, many might object to the steep staircase.
Staff, room, wifi, breakfast. Etc...
We loved our room very much! It had its own private patio, good sized bathroom, comfortable bed and spacious bedroom. The owner graciously met us upon our arrival and explained everything we needed to know.
Breakfast was minimal but good.
Rooms were very attractive, with great character, in keeping with this historic town and there was an excellent selection of books in our room.
Stairs were very steep but nothing we couldn't cope with. Might not suit older people with mobility problems.
A little bit more attention to details would be helpful
Excellent location, very helpful staff, lovely old building beautifully decorated. Our room was in the rear building and it was well lit at night with beautiful electric candles and twinkle lights.
The garden area could be tidied up.
We had a very large room in the back- isolated which was fine. Helene is lovely- helpful and makes great scrambled eggs. I am highly allergic- cats and vegetation were bothersome for me, not my husband.
Finding the place was difficult- directions from various roadways could help.
Steep stairs to climb from reception to sleeping quarters
Elaina was a wonderful hostess. She went above and beyond to make our visit memorable and never hesitated to answer our many questions for directions, etc. Breakfast was a delight at a beautifully set table. At the end of the day, coffee and tea and the most wonderful cookies were available to us. Elaina even made a trip early in the morning to get us some specialty items to take back to the states with us. Could not have been more pleased!
Not one thing!!
Everything. Rooms, Staff, Location..
Very welcoming ,good breakfast with local and organic produce. Central location very comfortable and French. Large well furnished bedrooms.
Difficult access very steep staircase but the climb to the third storey bedroom worth the climb. There is a garden room for those not able to climb. Need to be good at parking to get your car in the space outside
Great location and good recommendation for restaurants. Very French Boutique, truly an experience everyone must try.
Parking is very difficult but that is throughout Honfleur. Search the back streets further away from the center. If you have bags drop them off first. Built in 1600's so stairs steep and narrow, so must be reasonably able bodied.
The breakfast and the decor were delightful. We especially liked the focus on local organic foods.
Lack of car parking was a big problem for us. It was also a shame that the little courtyard was untidy when the rooms were so nice.
Perfect place !
Honfleur is lovely. This B&B hasn't been open too long. The proprietress has renovated the building and it is very different. If you are looking for a conventional luxury B&B This is not the place for you. But if you are 'arty' and like a 'cluttered' feel to your accommodation with lots of interesting features (including the electric wiring!) you may love this place. It is within walking distance of the Vieux Bassin so is convenient for the town which is the reason to be in Honfleur.
It was very pricey at E136 per night. But compared to others in Honfleur that is perhaps what you have to pay.
The room was spacious, beautiful, incredibly comfortable and luxurious. The staff were friendly and really helpful. In-room entertainment was amazing!
With or without a small child, the stairs up to our room were pretty precarious, however quaint.
Hosts very helpful & friendly . location great as close to old town & still quiet. Lovely breakfast.
Very steep & narrow stairs to rooms.
Location was great. Aline, the landlord and host, was charming, very helpful, made excellent breakfasts...and conversation. Access to the kitchen at all hours was a plus. Enjoyed the charm of staying in an original 17th century house. Would stay there again..
Parking was a problem, patience and walking were requisite parking problem resolutions. (Parking is very scarce in all of the Normandie towns) Some travelers may be put off by staying in a very old house.
Madame was charming and helpful. Her home has been beautifully restored with great style and attention to detail. It has a bohemian air to it. Our room, in the garden section, was gorgeous. Luxurious and quirky, with beautiful reclaimed pieces of wood and glass. The bed was as good as we've ever slept in. Massive and unbelievably comfortable. The bathroom was chic and luxurious. Perfect for a romantic break any time of the year. Many thanks. Rob and Louise - Cheltenham.
Only stayed a night on a stopover, absolutely loved this place, would definitely stay again.
Put simply..............this place is awesome!! Our host was extremely accommodating and friendly. Within walking distance of harbour and all local restaurants. Excellent value and have plans to call for a longer stay next time. The room was very comfortable and quirky with our own little veranda. Nothing was too much trouble for our host whose English was, fortunately, much better than our French!!!
