We had a beautiful corner room with views to the park and arch by nearby. The shower room was modern and well designed and the room had a nice boutique style.
The bed had a dip in it and was quite uncomfortable.
Good location in small street right next to the stone arch (= Porte de Dijeaux) that gives entrance to the pedestrian historic centre with it's restaurants, cafes, nice shops. Friendly staff. Very charming room! (# 42). Good bed. Clean.
Very small shower: one can only reach the floor (where your shampoo etc will be as there is no other place to put them) by bending your knees and go do down absolutely vertical. Good knees required! You may want to ask for cheese with your breakfast in advance: upon my request breakfast included cheese the next morning (but again not the day after). My colleague was in room #24 of which the toilet was indeed carpeted (see other reviews).
Access to the city, good transport situation; friendly staff
our room was very much a 'room' - there was no sense here of being in a hotel - and why oh why will the French not just put a kettle, teabags and a couple of cups in their rooms!?
Close to the main areas.
Air conditioning too strong and when opening the window then cigarette smell and too hot.
Location good as far as restaurants and sight seeing Clean towels every day
We were sent to an annexe just around the corner that was on a main road - you could not open the window for the noise which continued all though the night
The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was a good size with a newly renovated, large bathroom. The room was quiet. This hotel is very good value.
Cleanliness and location
1. No tea not instant coffee not kettle for hot water. 2. Mosquito flying in our ears while sleeping and biting. 3. No one in hotel after 10pm or emergency number to call in case guest has trouble with door coding
Clean and comfortable basic hotel. Location excellent for centre of Bordeaux and buses to and from Airport. Clean bedding and towels daily. Lots of hot water. Reception staff very helpful. We arrived early and were able to leave our luggage, which they then put in the room for us. Will stay here again.
Need to take your own travel kettle and cups.
The hotel is right in the heart of the city with an easy access to all sightseeing and shopping area. Administrators are very friendly, smiley although with limited English.
Very strong smell of humidity in the room - no extraction or ventilation systems. when you open balcony to get rid of the smell, it gets very noisy. At night it is still very noisy, and mornings especially. Impossible to sleep with closed balcony due to the smell. The road in front of the hotel is repaired, so hard to get in with suitcase. Also, there are steps at the entrance which make it difficult to get in with heavy suitcase or for disabled people
Located close to centre and nice restaurants
Room was extremely small, dark, barely furnished, not really clean (dust and cobwebs), bed was very old and not comfortable. Stay was completely overpriced!
Nice staff, very good value for money, central
Excellent location in the centre of the city. Friendly helpful staff. Simple but elegant room.
Quite a small bathroom with separate toilet. Uncomfortable woven flooring. Had to log into wifi every time you used it.
The location was great! Right near the centre of shopping. The hotel itself was quite cute, bathroom had nice tiles. The elevator is also disguised as a book shelf which was entertaining. The woman at the front desk was so wonderful to speak to, she was also very helpful with any questions that we had.
I went to turn on the light in the bathroom at night, after a long day of walking. When I touched the switch it popped and sparked in my face. It ended up shorting the fuse I guess so I had to shower in the dark. The next day it worked again.
Location was excellent (though parking tricky). Right in the centre of town (a sat nav helps!). Wonderful buzzy town with great bars and restaurants. Very traditional. The river is beautiful. Go out for breakfast! Cafe near the Mercure is excellent!
Hardly any parking as the hotel is so central however factor in the price of secure underground parking - approx €12 per night. Also a little noisy in a nice city way! Very small room!
kindness of staff. Position
noisy room. Awakened ad 1:0 am and at 6:30am for chair and table moving from restaurant below. Under partial refurbishment. Old structure
Clean vg location friendly
Too basic needed decoration
Very central, easy access for getting into the city. Also close to the transport system.
Breakfast room very tiny.
The shower was good. overall the room is clean.
Our room was exactly on the upper floor of the restaurant, it was very noisy on friday night. If some renovations of the walls can be done, it's much better. The bed is too soft.
Very central location with bus and tram stops, restaurants, shops etc. just a few minutes walk away, but on a quiet side street so very quiet for a city centre hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff at reception.
The lack of ventilation in the bathroom.
The location and the staff.
Need a refurbishing. The room did not have a shower, only a bath.
Very convenient location, helpful and friendly staff.
Excellent location and a good French hotel. No complaints.
location was great. sheets and towels were clean and bathroom was clean and staff friendly
The bed was broken and uncomfortable, only 1 flat pillow, room smelled of smoke, carpet in bathroom rotten maybe due to no shower curtain although the bathroom was big and newly done. Window opened onto a chimley so no fire escape and no fire alarm. Very hot at night so could not imagine staying here in the summer, we wont be going back.
The hotel has an amazing location on Place Gambetta and Porte Dijeau. My room was great (big corner room, clean, with view on the square. The Wi-Fi connection was excellent and allowed me to work (ask for the code upon your arrival). It was a little bit noisy at night because of it's location (sometimes drunk students pass by the street at late hours), but the pros of the location overcome this minor detail. For people that have trouble to sleep, I would suggest to ask for a quiet room (not on the square but on the small street). The personnel was adorable. :)
What a lovely reasonably priced hotel tucked in a perfect little street in the high end of town. Easy access to everything, beautiful friendly helpful staff.A highly recommended hotel.
