Hotel La Rosiere  

Carole and Eric made us extremely welcome. They are a warm, welcoming, friendly and delightful couple with an equally delightful daughter. They attended to our every need and were very knowledgeable of the surrounding area. The rooms are clean, breakfast is simple but wholesome and with as much as you like. The 'public rooms' are bright, light and airy and in common with every where else is spotlessly clean. The gardens are well kept and if the weather had been warmer it would have been wonderful to have lazed in one of the recliners on the lawn. This is a gem of a find, close to the War Cemeteries and all the surrounding amenities including the sandy beaches of Normandy and so easy to get to from all the Normandy Ports. This is one hotel I would gladly recommend!

The rooms were fresh and clean and opened up to a beautiful rose garden. After a busy day, we found the beds were fantastic and as the hotel is situated in a very quiet part of the country side, we slept like a baby. The location of the hotel is very convenient: Very close to Bayeux and to the Normandy beaches with all the D-Day memorials. The manager did a great job by recommending the best restaurants in the region: She knew them all and perfectly understood what we were looking for!

The location

It was very quiet - although we could hear the man in the next room snoring. The room was a good size and spotlessly clean. Plenty of hot water with a very good shower. We were in the larger ground floor room and it was worth paying the extra. We were right by the garden. We received a very warm welcome by the staff who spoke perfect English and were very helpful. Good location, close to Bayeux which is lovely! Also very close to Arromanches-sur-les-bains for the Mulberry Harbour.

The breakfast was overpriced at 10.50 euro per person for a cold buffet and coffee in a pot. No dinner was available unless they have a group in, in which case you can have dinner but you can only have what the group are having, with no other choice.

It was a very good location for all the d day beaches, musems. Bayeux Arromanches and surrounding historical venues. We all felt it was very quiet with lovely veiws, also we found it very relaxing.

Thing for us was we would have liked to have been able to have the odd evening meal if only it be of basic foods. As you only catered for groups.

Toilet smelled of urine. Breakfast expensive and then eggs charged extra.

A beautifully maintained and very clean hotel with immaculate and spacious gardens. The rooms are bright and well equipped. The patronne is very helpful and friendly and speaks very good English. The breakfasts are better than most French 3 star hotels with the offer of cooked eggs and a large selection of the usual breakfast food. It's excellent value for money. It's very handy for Bayeux and Arromanche and the D Day beaches. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Very convenient for viewing the World War2 beaches and historical parts of Normandy connected with the D- Day landings. Bayeux is only 5 kilometres away and is well worth visiting. The restaurants in the area are very good, serving typical Normandy food. The hotel sits on large garden area and is well cared for by the resident Management of husband and wife. We have been to this hotel twice and will be back next year.

Perfect location for the historical settings of Normandy, and also for a beach holiday. Quiet and comfortable. Would definately stay here again.

Good location for seeing Normandy.

Great location for visiting the Normandy Beaches. Staff was friendly, room was clean (not fancy), breakfast included, and very pleasant environment.

We did not like the location and did not like our room. Overall, the place was fine, but I think it is overrrated.

The general situation

Nice friendly Lady in charge speaking very good English. Very good location for D-Day attractions, clean with good parking.

Lovely little family-run hotel. Was nice to have quiet, peaceful setting after touring all the military sites. Hotel couple was very professional, polite. Room was clean and well maintained. Could have laundry service on site.

Just there for an overnight stay. Received a very warm welcome, the ground floor 'garden' room was comfortable if slightly small - but had a large shower room, and there was a good choice for breakfast. Can't ask for much more for the price.
