La Terrasse is a converted chateau in the heart of the Dordogne region. It offers a warm welcome and luxurious, elegant accommodation with charming, original features for an unforgettable stay. Dating from the early 11th century and converted into a hotel-restaurant in the late 1920s, La Terrasse has kept its soul, nobility and authenticity. Guest rooms are comfortable and refined. They provide all you may expect from a high-quality hotel, including air conditioning. Choose from the cozy standard room, a luxurious suite or spacious apartment. For a truly culinary experience, savor a meal in the hotel's restaurant. The traditional dishes are prepared with only the freshest of local products. Eat in the lovely dining room or, when the weather is nice, on the magnificent terrace with its stunning views of the surrounding countryside. In the summer make the most of the inviting outdoor swimming pool. La Terrasse is ideally placed to discover the surrounding area. Visit popular tourist sites such as Sarlat, Martel and Castelnau-Bretenoux castle. La Terrasse can also organize your seminars, meetings, receptions, banquets or weddings. The friendly and efficient staff will make sure your event is a success. Hotel Rooms: 15, Hotel Chain: Chateaux et Hotels Collection.

Magnificent hotel with perfect restaurant! Located just on Dordone in historical building. Very good place for short stop during the journey or romantic week end. Reastaurant offer gourmet food and good choice of wine, but you need to book table in advance even if you stay in the hotel! In some rooms stairs is too tought aqnd there is no evelators. It is natural for historical building and was not problem for us, but for oldery people or people with lot of laggadge it might be an issue.

For me, when I first saw the hotel < the word hatt came to mind was "paradise" . The actual experience was just as good. This hotel has a wonderful feel to it. The decor is extremely tasteful and in keeping with the centuries old building, Dining on the "terrasse" overlooking the Dordogne is a pure delight, not just for the magnificent view but for wonderful cuisine. We will certainly be returning to this hotel.

Very relaxing Breakast good value but evening meal far too exxpensive - almost £100 for evening meal which included main course, small portion of chesse for one and desert for one - two glasses of wine and a coke. A more substantial meal was taken at a nearby restaurant for approximately £60.

Whilst this was the most expensive stay of our tour it was a class above all the rest. Dinner on the terrace was most enjoyable, good food and excellent service.

Although our room was one of the cheapest it was still spacious and well appointed. The small pool was a lovely way to spend a few sunny hours awaiting the delicious menu at dinner time. A great overnight stop.

We enjoyed the location. Which was not matched by the manners of the staff. The attitude toward us was very poor, we felt like second class citizens because we ordered a beer instead of wine with our lunch surprise was expressed when I said I did not like gesiers in my salad. When we arrived for our evening meal it was obvious that the hotel felt it was providing a first class gourmet experience and when we did not order an aperitif instead choosing wine it arrived with a supercilious comment that here was our "aperitif", in particular my wife suffered at the hands of the staff whilst I was addressed as though she was not there. As a side note my wife was very sick all night as a result of the very red lamb she ate. Breakfast again produced an unpleasant note as she did not want any especially when the waitress "cleaned" a pot of jam with her tongue!. The bill was a very pretentious 300 plus Euros, well in keeping with the pretensions of the staff.

location staff were not very friendly, didn't seem to be interested in how we were enjoying our stay. Rooms lacked basic things like coffee maker/kettle, and trash can in bed rooms.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Terrasse Castle. The rooms were beautifully decorated; exceptionally clean; the bathroom, though small, very well maintained; the food was truly excellent- delicious, well presented, fresh daily, and all mise en bouche tasty and delicate. You do need a car to see the surroundings. The town does not offer much, but the setting is beautiful, peaceful, and calm. We enjoyed our daily explorations of the neighboring towns. We would return.LBG USA

Overall, excellent stay--gourmet food, wonderful rooms, located convenient to Geoffre de Padirac, Rocamadour, Roche de Aigle and Forêt de Singe; easy parking, too. The menu was a little difficult for American teenagers as almost everything had foi gras in it. Other than that, it was a great place to stay in that area.
