sleeping on a boat has great charm to me; the room is small but has everything inside, nice kitchen and even the restrooms were clean and fully functioning. Staff very open and nice, great place!
Locations is suggestive but Perrache Station ain't the safest place in Lyon; apart from the nice room there're no additional facilities.
WiFi worked well, beds were comfortable and the room was clean.
The property required a large deposit in advance and only accepted payments by bank transfer. We had to pay about 35 euros in transfer fees, and of course the banks' exchange rates are worse than VISA's/Mastercard's. To pay the balance, the property only accepted cash which had to be placed in an envelope in a letterbox. We received no receipt or confirmation of our payment, and in fact we were told at first that our payment had not been received. There was no reception on the boat. We were expected to call the owner by phone upon arrival, despite not having a SIM card for France. The boat itself was reasonably comfortable, though a bit rocky and cramped. It smelled of paint and often of petrol. There were a lot of stairs and narrow passageways on the boat which made it difficult to move our suitcases. The boat was poorly located, and is not in the position suggested by the photos. It was actually beside a noisy construction site which was closed to public access - we had to sneak through construction fencing just to access the accommodation. Nearby, there were very few shops, cafes or places of interest, and it was a 10-minute walk to the nearest train station.
