The location and the concierge’s were excellent. However, the room was tiny and loud, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The floors were not clean and I know this because I stepped on a piece of broken glass. Breakfast was exceptionally good.

Houlgate was the nicest discovery in the Normandy region.
Houlgate was the nicest discovery in the Normandy region. It's a small town/city that is absolutely beautiful, the beach is huge so its not crowded, one can walk for kilometres. The houses are perfectly restored and preserved as in the old times, because they have been passed from one generation in the family to another....and this for the last 400 years at least. People are VERY friendly, there are nice boutiques, and you find quite a few of top-rated restaurants; and otherwise, nice creperies and simple pizzerias (for all budgets). Houlgate is a must.

What a gem of a town,very good restaurants and plenty to chose from. The beach is safe and sand for miles. A Parisian weekend destination,many houses are Maison secondaries, very clean and well loved town I think.

And: the restaurant quality alone justify a stay in any case. The fish course was vapored at 56 degrees. Far above something you can except in a place like this.
