Located just a 20-minute drive from Orléans, La Feuillaie offers B&B accommodation in an 18th-Century house with a park and small lake on site.
Score from 45 reviews Exceptional
Ferme de Marpalu B&B is set in a renovated farmhouse, among the chateaux of the Loire Valley. It offers a large tree-lined garden with a terrace and a homemade breakfast is served every morning.
Score from 50 reviews Wonderful
Lovely place and surrounding country. Good, but not excellent, dinner and reasonably priced. A nice traditional hotel and very nice young owners. Good private parking.
Our room was a bit damp and the bathroom was poor. The pool needs refurbishing.
Charm and courtesy of staff Quality of dinner
Bedroom quality Staff Breakfast
Restaurant and bar prices a little high.
All round experience excellent
Warm reception. Abundant breakfast. Very comfortable rooms. Not far from the Loire River, in the general area for visiting the Chateaux. The Restaurant has a wide selection of fish, meat & vegetarian choices. The pricing is similar to others in the area: €25/30 for starter/main course/dessert.
The only problem is the small town where La Tonnellerie is located: if you don't eat at the restaurant in the hotel, you must take a car to get to another restaurant--but there are plenty!
This was a surprisingly good hotel, really nice picturesque garden and great food in restaurant. We stayed for one night and really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful decorated and nice atmosphere.
Everything to do with this hotel: location, polite welcome, layout of the buildings, the rooms, and the food
There is nothing not to like about this hotel
Cannot praise the staff and hotel to highly. Everything was prefect Thank you to all the staff for making our stay outstanding
Friendly, welcoming staff, great facilities and restaurant servicing great local food and wines.
the staff /owners were so polite and helpful and their command of the English language was truly excellent
Difficult to find !
Ambience of the hotel and courtesy of all the staff, who were so very attentive. A lovely pool ( surprisingly warm & towels supplied. A delightful bedroom & bathroom.
Irritatingly the water supply was v unreliable, despite the efforts of workmen to get it going. No water on arrival after a v long journey & again on the second day- no water between 5 and 7pm. Unacceptable really.
The staff. The restaurant and food. The garden and swimming pool. A thoroughly delightful overnight stay.
The decor is a little dated. There was damp in our room. But heck, it is a lovely place to stay .
wonderful comfortable bed antique furniture bathroom with great bath -execptionally clean charming hotel with ancient courtyard heated swimming pool characterful and restful
3km from Beaugency centre
Well hidden in a small village near Beaugency, the moment we stepped inside I was smitten. Great people, love the old style of the hotel. Beds sleep so well. Lovely view over inner garden.
Nothing except Breakfast rather dear so we went to local boulangerie.
Wonderful welcome from Francois and Helene, nothing was too much trouble, ask them about the best places to visit, they give great advice. Peaceful, homely setting. Tasty and varied breakfast and dinners featuring local produce. Good wine list. Lovely pool and terrace area. Room 30 - a lovely junior suite.
Liked everything, but tea and coffe making facilities in the room would be a bonus.
Lovely staff, comfort, cleanliness, food & drink and relaxing atmosphere. Hard to fault anything.
A kind welcome for weary travellers. We were called by name from the start, and we noticed the care with which Madame assisted an elderly disabled couple. The setting is absolutely beautiful - a huge, private courtyard with vine- covered walls, a spreading chestnut tree and a small pool with loungers in the shade. Breakfast, served outside on the terrace, was outstanding: local preserves, farm eggs, fresh bread and homemade pastries and cakes. We decided to have dinner in the evening as going into nearby Beaugency with my elderly mother-in-law would have been too much on a hot evening in July. The service was attentive and the food was attractively presented and delicious. The owners formerly ran a busy restaurant in Amboise and their attention to detail is superb. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble: they removed a duvet for my mother-in-law who prefers sleeping under a sheet and one blanket in the summer. An ideal place for a couple seeking a retreat and relaxation. We spent an hour walking around the small village after dinner - looking out over fields. It feels as though you've been invited to the home of your French friends' parents or grandparents and have been invited to make yourselves at home. Each bedroom has its own character, and is on either the 'village side' or the 'garden side.' Madame Thevaud brought us a tea tray in the drawing room at 4 o'clock. This hotel is listed in an exclusive guide book called 'Hotels du Charme' and deserves its place.
Perhaps not ideal for young families as dinner is priced relatively high: you would need to go into Beaugency or Meung for supper. No refrigerators in the rooms, of course. We think we saw a signpost for Center Parcs not far away - are they in the Loire valley now?
Good food and charming room
The hotel was quite delightful and the bedroom, although a little small had a large, comfortable bed with good quality duvet and bed linen. The bathroom was a good size with nice towels. The bonus for is was the special offer which made the room excellent value and, there was a lovely terrace and garden with a heated swimming pool which was perfect for us after a long drive. Would definitely recommend.
The only minor thing we didn't like was the smell of food in tne corridor where our room was.
Beautiful garden, beautiful furniture in public areas and rooms (grandma country style), nice and clean pool, very beautiful house inside and outside. Fotos are not faked and in reality even more beautiful. New owner since April who turned this hotel in a lovely oasis of beauty and atmosphere.
No fridge in room
We enjoyed the beautiful historic property. The staff is very friendly, eager to help and.The new owner is enthusiastic and proudly promoted locally sourced food and wine in his restaurant. The restaurant is moderately priced and gave very good value for the money. We are pleased to recommend the hotel to fellow travelers.
Very friendly hosts, quiet location, delicious food both at breakfast and dinner
My wife and I visited La Tonnellerie 12 years ago and returned to see if it had kept its special character. It had. François and Hélène Thévaud had just taken over, having run another hotel for 10 years. They know the business! And they have plans for modernising that won't affect the charm and character of the place.
