The Hostellerie La Tour du Roy is located in the charming city of Vervins, only 2.5 hours from the Channel Tunnel. In one of the 3 towers, Henri IV was acknowledged King of France. Completely restored and air-conditioned: stained glass windows, hand painted bathroom fittings, rooms with south facing terraces. Views of the grounds or a landscaped square. A warm welcome close to Belgium, the Ardennes, Meuse and Marne departments and the champagne cellars of Reims. Hotel Rooms: 22

The food was excellent and the hotel quaint. The room needed an update although this might have been its charm!

De gastvrije ontvangst en het vriendelijke personeel Het menu viel tegen, 30 euro was te duur voor de matige kwaliteit. De kamer is romantisch ouderwets gedecoreerd, maar wat sleets. Het bed is te smal en niet comfortabel (bijna de bekende Franse ''kuil'' in het midden!). Enige modernisering van het comfort is hoognodig. Van de linkerwastafel werkten de kranen niet. Het ontbijt was matig en te duur (15 euro pp), het buffet was ver van de ontbijtzaal verwijderd, zodat je een eind moest lopen om je bordje te vullen. Kortom, het geheel viel behoorlijk tegen!

L'accueil est sympathique les chambres stylées le cadre historique très classe. Nous avons trouvé le petit déjeuner très ordinaire, viennoiserie de qualité moyenne ainsi que le pain, aucun surplus jambon néant. Loin de la gastronomie attendue

No tener wifi en las habitaciones me parece un atraso en el 2012 y cobrar 15 € por un desayuno muy pobre.
