We loved the location, the breakfast buffet, and the town of Bayeux. It was near many WWII sites. The walls of the hotel were extremely thin and we could hear the people next door to us talking and blow drying their hair plus the workers getting the breakfast ready in the mornings.

Friendly and helpful staff; clean and comfortable rooms. Good location for town centre and for access to road network. Breakfast buffet area was small and could get crowded; breakfast average.

The rooms were clean and modern, more than I expected. Modern plumbing, electrical, new paint, crown mouldings etc. Very nice. I had to carry 2 large bags up 5 flights of stairs (and back down). An elevator would move the hotel to "great" category.

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. In fact, Vito (reception staff person) drove us to the train station, which was very nice of him. The breakfast buffet (at 10 Euros) had a variety of foods. The hotel was close to the centre of town. The hotel claimed that it had free wifi yet we were unable to connect in our room. We tried using our laptop in the lobby area but kept getting booted. However, it was probably a temporary glitch.

The location of this hotel is excellent, especially if you are booked on one of the popular Overlord tours. The room reminded me of a dorm room - very basic. For those who care about such things, a "soap" is provided in the shower which is for both body and hair. (Bring your own if this does not suit your taste.) This was the cleanest place we have ever stayed out of four different visits to France. Television had a couple of English language channels. The staff person we encountered on most occasions was not very friendly. Watch out - the cost of breakfast was added (€10/person per night) when we checked in even though we never requested it. It was reluctantly removed when we caught the error. There are excellent boulangeries a few blocks away where we ate ourselves silly for about €3/person. The amenities are as basic as they come, but adequate if you do not plan to spend time in the room. As others have mentioned, noise in the hallway and in adjacent rooms is problematic. I thought this would not be a big issue, but it was. We could hear absolutely everything going on in the hallway and everything our neighbors said when they came home drunk after 1:00 AM. . .

The owner has made tapestry sections to decorate the entry and dining room. English will get you by here. Cheerful and friendly crowd. In common with many European hotels, they rely on street parking, except for 6 spaces behind the hotel.

The staff was extremely helpful with where and how to get around to view sights of the area. The breakfast was outstanding with a mix of authentic French cuisine and generic foods. I suffer from back and neck aches, but the bed seemed to allow those to rest well such that I did not hurt. We were able to listen to at least one TV channel in English, which really helped since we wanted to hear updates about the Boston marathon bombing. I know it is a french thing, but I struggled with the toilet being in it's own little room rather than with the shower. Like I said, just me cause I know this is normal for France.
