We liked the fact that the Ceretan Hotel is in the centre of this lovely town and there is plenty of free parking. It is a lovely traditional building with lots of character and we were very pleased we chose to stay here.
We ignored a review about the owner being unfriendly, and wondered on arrival. Eg we hadn't seen the house rules about not leaving dogs alone in the room and got called back at the door. However although he is a perfectionist about his hotel, it is justified. It is a lovely old building beautifully restored and furnished and almost one of the Ceret art galleries in its decoration and pictures. He turned out to be quite warm and caring under his fussy exterior. We will stay again, soon.
Room was small but fine though not cheap; great location close to town centre but with parking nearby. Good places to eat in vicinity.
Breakfast poor value at 8 euro. Lots of places to buy bread and pastries nearby and would do that next time.
Excellent location, with parking in public car park less than 5 mins away. Welcoming owner. Useful information about restaurants.Comfortable room with beautiful view.
The close position to the old town and shops & restaurants. Having a balcony overlooking the town.
The stairs as we were on the top floor!
Staff very friendly and accommodating so our stay was very relaxing
The breakfast is excellent, as is the location. Very clean.
The room was advertised as having a patio, which it most definitely didn´t have. It was on the second floor with a window which opened onto a small, square, ground floor patio so all you could see was the wall in front of the window. There was no tv (not a problem to us but it might be to some people), which was also included in the details. The family room is very small for 4 people (impossible to fully open the wardrobe doors) although when we mentioned this to the owner his reply "what do you expect for this price"???? The advert clearly says it is 19m2, which may be true, but the distribution of the room made it difficult to move around and impossible to use the wardrobe. I expect the owner is really friendly and helpful as long as you don´t complain about anything. He will surely have something to say about this - something that absolves him of any responsibility and that we got what we paid for. He didn´t really care that we weren´t happy - the room was already paid for so his advice was "if we didn´t like it we could just leave"!
The terrace was valuable extra space.
No air conditioning. No hair dryer.
The staff member was really friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. His little dog 'Cookie' was really cute too, and a great watch dog.
Our host was fabulous and so helpful. He recommended excellent eating spots.
This hotel is ideally situated to visit the pretty little town of Ceret and its outstanding art museum, featuring Picasso pottery and other well known artists. The hotel is good value for money and mine host is very helpful, friendly and amusing.
- having to leave!
Friendly & helpful proprietor aided by his cute dog. He helped get all our bags to our third floor room up the spiral staircase which was no mean feat! Free parking close by. Good breakfast. If you stay here and he recommends you stop at Coullioure enroute to Spain - do it! A stunning beach village on the Costa Brava worthy of a paddle & lunch stop.
A bit tricky to find (due narrow & one way streets) even with a GPS.
The hotel is just off the Main Street with its shops and cafés and very close to the Museum of Art. The owner does a very good job of running the business single-handedly and is very charming and helpful. Breakfast can be taken on a delightful terrace full of flowering plants.
Our room was situated at the back of the hotel, overlooking a courtyard restaurant and could be a little noisy during the evening. This wouldn't be a problem if one stayed up later than we did.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent, central but quiet. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. The view from the French doors was fabulous, what a way to start your day.
We were only there for a few days, I wouldn't have enjoyed taking a full case up two fights of stairs!
Quiet and very French! Staff very responsive!
location, clean and big rooms, modern decoration, friendly staff
