Location was good, close to D-Day beaches. The room was plain but well maintained and very clean. We were placed across the street from the main building and fairly isolated. I did not see the inside of the main building but think it may have been more hospitable. We were not invited to look into or use the main building. Somewhat expensive for what was offered. |

The situation This is a shabby, run-down little chateau, run by a man who has very little time for single travellers. The shower was broken and there were used towels still in the room. |

The breakfasts! Food was plentiful and oh so tasty.Owners were most courteous. The hotel is old but charming. For a two star hotel we (there were six of us) loved everything about our stay there. Wondered why it was only a two star. |

The location is great - it's a short stroll along the seafront in front of the Mulberry Port to the museum at Arromanches, or a short drive to other wartime relics on the Normandy coast, and there are some excellent fish restaurants just along the coast in Port en Bessin Huppain. We found the room to be very small and it and the bathroom were in a fairly poor state of decoration; we were asked to pay up front before we saw the room. This hotel was not the best value for money, nor the most relaxing place to stay during our holiday in Normandy. |

The staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was croissants, ham, cheese, bread and excellent coffee or hot chocolate. The shopping, beach and D-Day museum were a five or six minute walk away. This beach is considered to be the British section. The American section (Omaha, etc.) is a 25 kilometer drive away. The room was a bit small for four people, but it was clean, and this is only a 2 star hotel after all, so one musn't expect luxury. |

Continental Breakfast which was excellent and good value. The location and the architecture of the hotel. Our room which was minute. You could not open the loo/shower room door with the wardrobe door open. You could not get into bed from both sides. My wife stood with her arms out wide touching one wall. I stood touching the opposite wall with arms out wide, one hand touching the wall, my other hand resting on my wife's shoulder. We could not use a small upright chair as it was under a small desk and you could not turn the chair around as there was nowhere to put it. Although it was not particularly expensive it was, in my opinion, unsuitable for one person, let alone two. My sister-in-law had the same type of room next door, as a single. |

Good service and a friendly staff. The hotel was close walking distance (less than 10 min) to Arromanches, which had a great selection of restaurants, pubs, souvenir shops and access to the beach and D-day museum. The location is perfect for people coming by car or who plan to rent a car from Bayeux. For walkers/backpackers, this is not an ideal hotel (unless your sightseeing is confined to the town of Arromanches. I paid 20 euros each way just to get from Bayeux Gare to the hotel, and three times that amount both ways to get to other D-day spots (actually just Omaha - Utah or St. Marie-Eglise would've made the cost ridiculous). The buses from Arromanches only run on weekdays and sparcely at that, so if you don't have a car, plan on getting a cab into Bayeux and joining a morning, afternoon, or all-day tour bus - the prices are less than I paid in cab fare (though the drivers were very nice)! Free parking at the hotel if you have a car, though! |

Lovely old fin de siécle house and Norman-style annexe in its own grounds within walking distance of historic Arromanche centre with all its attractions and eateries. Our room had a large, comfortable bed. There was a bijou ensuite with shower. Double aspect room with elegant windows. Warm, friendly welcome from le patron upon arrival, who said he 'was expecting us'. The following morning, pleasant French breakfast with crisp bread, croissants and juice, most courteously served. We were also offered cheeses and yogurt. Unusual to be asked for payment in advance, also not to be shown the room, as is the custom elsewhere. Decor in our room looked a bit tired and there was a curious, faint but not unpleasant odour, which seemed to emanate from the carpet. Guests who want Ibis and Campanile standards will baulk at Chanteclair, but we rather liked its oddball outback French country hotel charm. Evidently so do others, as it was full up when we stayed there. Guests will find it helpful to speak at least a little French. |

Internet access was handy - and free. Generous measures of drinks from the bar. TV showing international football (though TV in room didn't work). Lack of TV in room (see above). One day shortage of towels. |

It's a charming old building, with comfortable rooms, just four minutes walk from a good beach, a small town with a nice selection of restaurants, little supermarket and lovely atmosphere, and the D Day landings museum and mulberry harbour. Car park in the grounds. With a smattering of French we were fine, but I don't think the management spoke English, which might be tricky for some. |

The staff were extremley friendly, and apprecaited it when you talked in French to them or tried to !. The breakfast were huge and really set you up for the whole of the day. We didn't stay in the main hotel instead were across the road in a apartment which were quite modern, next time would love to stay in the actual hotel. |

The building in which was the room was very nice from the exterior, and the gardens were very cozy too. The room was tiny considering the prize, specially the bathroom. The insonorization was very bad. In the prize is supposed to be included a bottle of cider per room, and we did not received any. The breakfast was very expensive for what was offered. |

We were welcomed at the late hour of arrival we had warned the owner about about. The bed was comfortable and the shower nice. The room was very basic, the double bed was squeezed into such a small space it was impossible to close the bathroom door. This was unpleasant as the bathroom had a certain smell about it. Certainly no chance of privacy! |

The hotel was close to the sea front which meant an easy evening walk to and from the restaurants. Our room was very small; perhaps it would be better as a single room. |

The only really good thing about this hotel is its location to the Normandy landing beaches. The bedroom was very tired looking and dawdy. The wardrode could not be used because of a very strong damp musty smell. The shower and ensuite were in a poor state of decoration and I just felt that the whole room needed redecoration. The hotel looked impressive upon approach and if the interior had been maintained to the same extent it would have been a totally different experience. As it was it had no bar or restuarant so you had no option but to eat and drink out. |

Good location for the D-day sights and we received a good recommendation for dinner. It was a rather expensive and small for a family of 4; seemed a bit worn. There was no bottle of cider with the reservation as stated although I did see others walking away with a bottle. |

The hotel was quiet and comfortable. .The breakfast was very good. The buildings were old, but well maintained. The staff seemed anxious to help guests. My purpose was to visit the D-Day beaches. The location was ideal for this. |

This former 18th-century post office is now a charming hotel located in one of Bayeux’s oldest quarters, near the Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry. The hotel boasts an excellent restaurant. |
Situated on a quiet street in the historic centre of Bayeux, opposite the Baron Gerard museum, the hotel is within a stone’s throw of the Cathedral and Bayeux Tapestry. |
Located 800 metres from the centre of Bayeux, between Caen and the D-Day beaches, this lovely 18th century mansion offers elegant and luxurious accommodation. |
The Brunville Hotel reserves a warm welcome for you in the heart of the Normandine city of traditions and offers many reasons to stay in Bayeux. |
