Vertus is a very small place, there was only one restaurant open in the evening, and the quality of this restaurant was on the edge.

The drink for welcome, tasting their own champagne - which is really excellent. The friendliness of the owner. Breakfast with a lot of homemade jams and good French baguette (not to miss). The quietness and charming side of the big room. It's definitively the perfect place to visit all the little villages around producing champagne

Some dust on the floor in the bedroom and bathroom but it's really to find something negative!

Le Clos Margot was a very welcome surprise - having stayed in many hotels and B&Bs in and around the Champagne region we have always felt that the accommodation was not up to much. However, Le Clos Margot was excellent - from the very friendly welcome, including an excellent glass of the family Champagne, to the lovely room with fantastic bathroom. The breakfast was very good and a cut above the normal bread and jam that we would expect. All in all, we can't say enough good things about this hotel.

Vertus is a very nice town but is a bit lacking in restaurants. We could have driven into Epernay, but what is the point of going to Champagne if you aren't going to sample the wares.

The room was comfortable, if a little small. We were welcomed with a glass of the house champagne and the staff / owners of the hotel were very friendly. Breakfast was very nice, the usual French fair of cheeses and ham etc, but good quality

Vetus is very small village, with limited options in terms of things to do. I'd only suggest staying here if you're breaking up the journey back tunnel. There's only a couple of places to eat in the village and I can't stress enough how quite it is

The rooms are on the estate of a small high quality Champagne maker. We were given VIP treatment by the owner and his staff. A fantastic way to really understand how the champagne business works in a place where the hard work is done. Fantastic tasting and tour. Great breakfast.

Good location in the hart of the Cote De Blancs Champagne area. Very clean room and house champagne.

Very nice environment and very quiet. Easy access to Epernay and small villages in the vineyard. Visit of Clos Margot champagne cellar and owner taking time to give us plenty of explanations. Private parking inside the hotel property.

Was booked as a stopover on the way home from the South of France and it greatly exceeded our expectations of a comfortable place to stay. We would recommend the best room it was lovely and spacious and extremely comfortable. But what really wowed us was the lovely family run champagne business, we had a tour of their vineyard and they booked us into a lovely local resteraunt where we enjoyed a bottle of their champagne. A lovely finish to our holiday.

Beautifully appointed, with some lovely original features. Lovely simple furnishings, very clean & with everything you need provided. Fantastic location, quiet and peaceful and calm. Close to great days out - water parks, shopping, big cities, beaches, cognac & wine tasting, and countryside.

Nice clean and well appointed rooms with excellent walk in shower. Good to be able to have a petit degustation on site. Lovely dog kept our little son amused. Within easy walking distance of many other champagne houses

No fault of the owners but we made the mistake of arriving on a public holiday and vertus was like a ghost town. Apart from that not the nicest village compared with some others in champagne.

For the price, the breakfast suffered from an attempt to provide Euro fare as opposed to the french experience. The food was varied, and drink too (and the cheese excellent), but the service was by two very nice but severely under-trained teenagers. This simply wasn't good enough. For example, on day 1 the coffee was weak, therefore unacceptable. The furnishing of the room was inadequate - no artwork on the walls at all. The bathroom tap produced only cold water and was ludicrously high. The shower area promised an over-head spray but we couldn't see how it could work and it didn't. Lastly, in a stay at a Champagne producer, surely guests paying at least 85 euros a night could receive a welcome of at least half a chilled bottle? If I were running this establishment, this would be one of the first ideas I'd have had to make guests feel welcome. All in all, nice though the rooms are, this appears to be a Champagne house trying to make money on the side from some rooms on the side. I noted also that there was absolutely NO information available in the room about the Champagne region (totally unacceptable) and no welcome area.

Would recommend this highly as a romantic break or as a stop off on route to your chosen destination. The staff were excellent, very polite and professional and on arrival we were given complimentary champagne. Breakfast was beautiful and well worth the price. We will definately be staying here again.

This is a lovely modern hotel in the Champagne region. We stayed to be in the countryside but close enough (2 hours) to CDG airport for a lunch time flight. Very clean, good breakfast, highly recommended

Myself and my friend were visiting Champagne for the weekend and we wanted to stay somewhere that did not involve always using the car. This was a perfect location as it was directly on the premises of Champagne Doyard and in very close proximity to other champagne houses we were planning on visiting. The restaurant in the evening was a 5 min walk into the village. The secretary of Champagne Doyard was extremely helpful, booking a champagne degustation and the restaurant for dinner for us. Madame Doyard was extermely charming and served us an excellent breakfast, simple ingredients but top quality.
