Location, quaintness, attentiveness of staff, modernized rooms, Wi-Fi works really well.
Small rooms, but hey, it's europe, tv system is slow and not very responsive
Very comfy bed, staff on the front desk were always very helpful. Good location, nice and quiet.
Rooms are small but you know this is you read the reviews, not really a problem if you are staying for a weekend break and have small bags.
Lovely reception staff. Really quiet at night. Comfortable beds and good shower. Would definitely stay here again.
location is amazing and staff are nice, breakfast is delicious
The location is excellent, lots of restaurants, cafes and bars within walking distance. Close to Notre Dame and good location for taxi rank and open top tour bus
Nice comfortable room, good breakfast, great location -- quiet street but near metro, restaurants, museums, shopping, everything.
Not a thing.
location, good price for city center of paris, would definitely stay here again.
hard to find.
A nice boutique style hotel, friendly and helpful staff.
We went with another couple and could not have been made more welcome. Our room was excellent, if a little small, but that did not stop us sleeping well, with a room at the back(highly recommended!). Breakfast was terrific, small but perfectly shaped, if you know what I mean! The hotel is brilliantly situated in St. Germain with some great restaurants in easy walking distance. The Louvre is just across the river and Notre Dame a stone's throw away. The staff could not have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We all felt we had been very well looked after and cannot recommend this Hotel too highly.
Our only slight whinge was the size of the room, but as we were there for only 3 nights it did not really matter.
Friendly staff very clean and fantatic location
Very small rooms ( this is probably typical of most hotels in this City centre location. I felt it was extremely expensive for what you got compared to other hotels we've stayed in but this may also be typical of hotels in this area.
Location of the actual hotel just off St Michel place and friendliness and helpfulness of all staff was really good. I really liked the age of the building and the clever modifications. It is a very small hotel with a narrow spiral staircase so don't go expecting grand open spaces. This one has character and style. And a small elevator. Appreciated the included wifi that worked without glitches. I was travelling with my 22year old son (Q1 didn't have a category for this so ticked group) so we had a twin room which was extremely small (as I understand all Paris hotel rooms to be) but, on the downside, there was nowhere to put a second suitcase let alone open it. Unless you are in an intimate relationship with your room partner it might be a bit too squishy for comfort. We weren't in the room often so it was ok for us.
The doorless shower made showering uncomfortable as water poured off your elbows onto the floor unless you reduced the flow to a trickle and stood with your back against the tapware. Need lots of towels to mop up afterwards. The location as said was great, however the area before the steps that lead down the laneway to the hotel entrance is used as a public urinal (I actually saw a fellow in the process of relieving himself in broad daylight) and the smell is overwhelming. I don't know how the Italian restaurant at the base of the steps attracts customers. The lane can be noisy - trucks woke me at 6.30 each morning but not my son. The bar opposite also was noisy quite late at night but it was the happy sound of people enjoying themselves (not yelling or anything like that) and didn't bother us at all.
I am disabled and can only use a shower. Unfortunately, most hotel showers are located within a bath. Having had great difficulty finding a room with just a shower this hotel goes one better and provides a decent wet room! Is this unique in Paris? The hotel has a level access - absolutely no step! Ideal for a person using a wheelchair or a less able-bodied person. We were in Room 1 which is located on the ground floor. However, see my comment regarding the rooms on the other floors. While our room was a little small its good design maximises the space. There is a reasonably spacious lobby before you enter the bedroom and the two sliding doors also results in you having more available space. We liked the modern style of the room with the attractive mural headboard. A very welcoming hotel with very friendly staff who spoke very good English. There was a small bottle of Champagne to greet us with some good quality chocolates. A nice touch! The shower was excellent. The description of the hotel was a little misleading because it seemed to suggest that if you chose breakfast, it had to be taken in the room - something that we didn't want. While you had this option most people will want to use the small dining area behind the reception desk. For 14 Euros the breakfasts are surprisingly good. It is self service and has excellent coffee with a wide choice of blends. A good choice of cold meats, smoked salmon, bread and croissants and fruit juices and yogurt. This is a very old building which has been tastefully modernised. For most people the hotel's location is the star quality.
Our ground floor room was very dark, in part due to the necessity of having privacy blinds on the windows. More artificial lighting could be an improvement for many people. On our arrival we noticed that the toilet seat had been broken and it was unsafe to use. The management were very responsive to this problem and they went to a lot of trouble to have a new seat installed. Less able-bodied guests should be warned that with the exception of our room, all the other rooms require guests to use a lift. In order to access this lift you have to climb about a dozen stone steps!
Fantastic location, very friendly and helpful staff, our room was excellent but some rooms are on the small side but for Paris This hotel is great value. Quiet location.
A little difficult to get to by taxi as it is located in a non vehicle street but only 50 metres to a main thoroughfare. The plus of this location is that it's quiet.
+ location + personal + television
- very small room - missing doors to the toilet
The room was uncomfortably small. There was a problem with using an international credit card somehow related to internet coverage. This was a time consuming and unwelcome irritant that considerably slowed down our checkout process.
Great location, nice boutique feel, lovely decor and although very central no noise got in to room during the night. No restaurant but perfect for those who want a good central base, and there are plenty of nice cafés/creperies in near by for breakfast.
The entrance from place st Michel smelled of urine and did not necessarily feel safe as you walked through at night. However the rue l'hirondelle itself was fine and you can get to the street a number of other ways so only a minor complaint. The smell did not get in to the hotel.
Excellent location in the 6th Arr. On a quiet side street.
Very small room with dim lighting. And a very skimpy breakfast at 25 euros per day. Not a good value.
Location was terrific (near Notre Dame on the Left Bank); quiet side-street yet near lots of restaurants; next to Metro and the RER; nice staff; very clean; good rate
Tiny room typical for Paris.
In a fantastic location in the heart of the notre dame area which is in walking distance of everything. Helpful, friendly staff.
Nothing I disliked.
Everything was good, the room was clean with fine facilities. Staff was friendly, location very central, wifi was working good. All the comfortable basic needs were there. Definitely a place to come back when I'm in Paris.
THE STAFF FATIMATA AND FIONA
A perfect location. No complaints about the room which was clean and well appointed. When we go back to Paris this will be the hotel we try to book.
Extremely close to st michel metro, a great connection to key sightseeing landmarks and lovely staff, also very close to exciting small shops and restaurants.
The Hotel was perfectly located in the Latin Quarter and close to the Notre Dame.
We were located in the ground floor right next to the reception with windows towards the street. You could hear the reception and the street very clear. It was a good hotel, but with a bad experience - a better located room would have made all the difference, but for one day it wasn't worth the trouble.
The location of this hotel on a quiet side street was excellent, easy walking distance to Notre Dame and Le Marais. As with all central Paris small hotels the rooms are very compact, but here they had been ingeniously designed to fit the maximum facilities into the space. We had an issue with our bathroom and the staff went out of their way to assist us as best they could. What could have been a real downer on our experience ended up being barely an issue and we were immediately offered a free breakfast to compensate us for any inconvenience.
