Ideally placed near Mirepoix, a beautiful medieval town, in the heart of the Cathar country, the Auberge du Balestié is owned and run by an English family who warmly welcome you to this peaceful...

It's individuality and character and the charming proprietress ! Also the fact that it had no corporate feel and was not a clone of every other hotel.
Location, excellent food, delightful shady courtyard dining area, friendly and responsive staff.
Would have preferred fresh bread for breakfast. One extra euro would have covered that.
Loved the staff and owners. Madame is a joy, We could not have been better welcomed or served and had some lovely chats. Everything was explained with patience and charm. Breakfast was excellent, from the fresh orange juice to the croissants etc. Dinner, served outside in the magical garden under trees was super, very local in flavour and quite broad in its offerings, particularly if you like fish. Attentive service.
Our room's decor was a little tired, but we sort of liked that! The cleanliness and prompt care made up for any little shortcomings.
Typical old style French hotel, excellent location and excellent restaurant, very popular with locals. Once we upgraded our room a couple of slots, we were happy with our room too.
The location was good, room was small but clean. The bathroom looked to be recently refurbished was spacious & very nice. It was a typical French hotel & good value for money.
The breakfast was a buffet & was adequate. The coffee was out of a machine but all the food, butter, jam, cheese, etc was all prepacked.
LA HABITACION ESTA BIEN.ADEMAS ESTA CENTRICO.
EL WIFI ES MUY MALO.
This is truly a genuine old style french hotel. Small and run by a wonderful old lady who sits with her papers and files to greet guests and run things from sunrise till after everyone has gone to bed. It has a restaurant that attracts from wide and is very busy every evening. I didn't eat there for dinner but the menu looks great. The stairs is old and creaky but tells such history with every step. The bedroom was very clean with a spacious ensuite with bath/shower toilet. The bedroom has quality furniture, a sleigh bed with a very comfortable mattress and comfortable pillows. Sheets blanket and bedspread. The bedspread and curtains were a little dull but hey thats a fast thing. Big double window with shutters and a high ceiling. Very large double wardrobe with mirrored sliding doors again quality hardwood. The carpet was a but industrial but clean. The hotel was very peaceful and quiet and always a formal welcome and smile from the old lady in charge.
Restaurant General ambiance Madame!
everything!!! basic breakfast but good coffee Boulangeries close buy Loved the old style hotel and furnishings
We ate perfectly cooked, four course meals for 13euros. A pizza around the corner cost 12 euros! The food was fantastic and the room was brilliant, just what we wanted.
Dining on the terrace.Good value for money. Friendly staff.
Regularly use this for one nights so decided to stay for longer this time. They now have a ground floor room to save stairs and this is big with superb bathroom. One of my favourites.

It's in the middle of the town.

We often spend a night in Mirepoix & enjoy a warm welcome at Le Commerce .There is a friendly atmosphere in the restaurant with many a local "do" going on.and pretty good food too.. We always look forward to our visits.
Excellent location good value for money as all we wanted was somewhere to put our heads down.
Staff a little surly but it would not stop us from booking there again.
I have stayed a number of times and I like the homely welcome. The reception area and breakfast rooms are a little tired but the bedrooms are very good with modern bathrooms
Very central location, bed comfortable.
Room basic unwelcoming and old fashioned, 30 year old bathroom. All a bit tired.
Olde world charm. This hotel has been run by the same woman for over 50years. It is comfortable, clean, atmospheric, and close to the town centre without being too noisy. Has a good dining room, good French fare.
The staff, ambience, location and food.
Rooms were too small.
What a good Logis used to be like! I have used this hotel several times. Run by nice elderly lady, excellent restaurant. Go out the side entrance and within 50 metres you are in the ancient town centre. One of my favourites. Dog friendly as well. Superb.
Be prepared for stairs but not a major problem.
basic but very clean and copmfortable and excellent restaurant
Atmospheric, charming, old school
The food was excellent. So was the town.
The toilet didn't work well.
