Location, the room was nice and staff was friendly.
The reception of internet (wi-fi) was bad in the room.
Just a few minutes' walk from all the gay spots in Le Marais.
The lady at the front desk was charming, knowledgeable, and glad to be helpful. La Compostelle is small in all aspects: small lobby, tiny elevator, little bed rooms, cramped (but well re-done) baths. But the price is relatively small, too. Our 2nd floor window opened onto La Marais and its lively street scene. Not too noisy by bedtime and fun until then.
As pleasant as the staff was, there appeared to be only one person working except at breakfast (typical pastries & coffee for a bit too much coin). Fortunately that fit our needs which were few. If you need services (help with luggage, room service, etc) pay a little more somewhere else.
The hotel is in the heart of the atmospheric Le Marais district with plenty of shops, lovely cafes and restaurants. The metro St Paul is just across the Rue de Rivoli. The hotel room was clean and had a traditional feel with wooden beams on the ceiling. The bathroom was modern and clean.
The noise in the street was a problem early in the morning and, as there was no air conditioning in the room and it was very warm for October, I had to keep the window open. The walls were paper thin so you could hear other guests moving about. The room doors slammed shut which was annoying. I was given the wi-fi code for the hotel but it never worked and hotel staff just said it must be a problem with my laptop. Not true - I ended up having to pay for wi-fi through Orange that worked fine.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering advice in things to do. The room was comfortable and clean. Well situated for Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter and shopping! This will now be our first choice hotel in Paris.
Excellent location. Reception staff very friendly & helpful. Rooms good size and clean. Plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was ok for a couple of mornings but as we were there for 5 nights and it was the same thing each day it became very repetative & boring. No variation from croissant, baguette & jams, cornflakes or muesli & plain yoghurt + apple compote. Fruit bowl was not replenished and by the end of the week there were a few bruised, sorry looking pears in it.
Location was perfect
Rooms were very small. The ceiling was pretty low. There was no air condition so I cannot think of it during summer. (We were there during October.) Since the hotel is located on a lively street, the rooms were bit noisy.
Everything happening on your doorstep in the Marais. Delightful and very helpful concierge Yelena - and another French lady (sorry no name)
Very small tight rooms. No bar fridge
The location is good.
It looked like a spare room to me. I opened two doors(like emergency exit) on the side of the corridor to get to my small room next to another. It was hot in the room and there's no air-condition but a fan. The WC looked modern but i could hear the sound clearly of my neighbour. The room is old and small. It's not worth of the price at all.
Location. Reasonably priced compared to other hotels around. Easy access to the Metro. Walking distance to many restaurants, cafes, etc.
Comfortable location and fair prices for 7-10 days in the heart of Paris. Though small for two occupants, those who do not plan to spend much time in the hotel will find room and services hard to beat in the same area of the city. The cleanliness of every part of the hotel was appreciated AND, the breakfast room and food truly outstanding.
The bathroom was barely suitable for two average size adults! And, certainly would be challenging for those who may be overweight or handicapped. Likewise, the small elevator will be challenging for such travelers. Street noises may be disturbing for days & nights when open windows are necessary for air circulation, even though each room does have an electric fan.
The location close to the main Monuments and Metro.
very friendly staff, wifi for free, new big bathroom
no air condition
Great location. Very clean. Quiet even though it was on a busy street. Great shower.
Bathroom could have been a few inches bigger..just a little cramped.
Location and comfort. Well maintained property with good staff.
Loved the neighborhood, the excellent bathroom, new wood floors, good-sized closet, and the responsiveness of the staff.
I like a more plush mattress and would prefer two pillows per person, though the staff provided these on request. The courtyard was a little noisy at night and early in the morning, while the WiFi was torturously slow.
Breakfast is terrible..No refrigerator..rooms are small..so it is not comfortable hotel at all..
Good location, close to metro and attractions
The lovely young lady at reception was very helpful, friendly and attentive. Located in the heart of le marais and less than a five minute walk to St. Paul metro stop, the area is vibrant, plenty of food and patisserie options. room is a standard size for Paris hotels, had a room on the 3rd floor with a window/street view. There is a lift, although I preferred using the stairs. Good value for price.
My friend and I love the genuinely authentic and friendly people at reception - helpful and accommodating. What luxury to live in such a hotel, feeling so at home as if it were our own apartment. Great location. Lively street, but never noisy. Great food and coffee all around. Great walking distance
Pointless question! Loved everything; from cleanliness to comfort, special treatment from Colombian receptionists, who are just fabulous people, feeling like own family. Kind, polite, and genuine, great sense of humor and understanding and good taste themselves! A pleasant discovery. Can't wait to go back and stay there again!
cleanliness and friendly staff.
Location.. choice of two metros, and within easy walking distance of the Seine and the Marais plus restaurants and cafes. One woman member of staff spoke good English and was very helpful. The room was clean but without charm, however the bathroom was unexpectedly modern and well appointed.
Lighting in the bedroom was too low. e.g. no central light. The only way to close bedroom doors is to slam them unavoidably loudly. Noise from the courtyard at night (seemed like the kitchen area of a restaurant closing down for the night) often interrupted our sleep.
Very good location and breakfast
But rooms are a bit noisy
I would like to thank the whole staff they were clean and helpful specially Mrs Noella she helped us alot by suggesting places and how to get to them it was a real honeymoon. the place of the hotel is marvellous in its back a supermarket and the saint Paul metro station and it was very near to all the restaurants . and at the last day they sent us a complementary breakfast which was nice of them. If i went to paris again i will book with them definitely
