The room was big anough and wth all comforts, wifi free and good, bathroom new, window and balcony on our room.Lift working properly, very nice the breakfast area, reception staff available 24 hours.Good value for money, highly reccomended for short stay in Paris
room in the front are noisy, not a huge issue if you bring a pair of ear plugs :)
The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were very helpful. It was what we expected for the price.
The beds could have been a little better
Location. Nothing more.
As a solo traveller I'd say the room for me was extremely small! The bathroom was too small as well. Not worth the money at all!
Great staff, good location, good price
Small beds, relatively small room
We liked the location, close to the subway, restaurants, lively neighborhoof
Rooms are extremely noisy, you can hear people talk from all rooms on the floor, hear them walk, talk, enter, leave. Bed was good but small and the toilet is too small for anybody over 5foot to sit on.
Overall the hotel was good.
the room was very small
very friendly and helpful receptionist hotel is clean and location is excellent.
the rooms have smallest possible bathroom you can hear the noise of lift and other rooms.
Great location at great price.
Very small room and the wifi was very slow - I could not open my e-mail or anything. We had to go to McDonalds to get good wifi connection.
Everything! The room was absolutely fab. Very clean. The room size was good enough….if you compare with other rooms in other hotels in the same area. The bed was very comfortable and the location perfect…especially if you are looking something in the gay area "Marais" in Paris. Hot water every time!
The only drawback that we can say is the thickness of the wall. You can hear the neighbour…especially if he snores. So, you can consider this, if you have a "light" sleep.
Small area around the bed
Excellent location and very friendly staff, would definitely recommend
Leaving the key at the front desk when going out, and coming back at night to find them sitting at the end of the front desk (unattended) with a man sleeping on the sofa in the lobby.
Location, the room was nice and staff was friendly.
The reception of internet (wi-fi) was bad in the room.
Just a few minutes' walk from all the gay spots in Le Marais.
The lady at the front desk was charming, knowledgeable, and glad to be helpful. La Compostelle is small in all aspects: small lobby, tiny elevator, little bed rooms, cramped (but well re-done) baths. But the price is relatively small, too. Our 2nd floor window opened onto La Marais and its lively street scene. Not too noisy by bedtime and fun until then.
As pleasant as the staff was, there appeared to be only one person working except at breakfast (typical pastries & coffee for a bit too much coin). Fortunately that fit our needs which were few. If you need services (help with luggage, room service, etc) pay a little more somewhere else.
The hotel is in the heart of the atmospheric Le Marais district with plenty of shops, lovely cafes and restaurants. The metro St Paul is just across the Rue de Rivoli. The hotel room was clean and had a traditional feel with wooden beams on the ceiling. The bathroom was modern and clean.
The noise in the street was a problem early in the morning and, as there was no air conditioning in the room and it was very warm for October, I had to keep the window open. The walls were paper thin so you could hear other guests moving about. The room doors slammed shut which was annoying. I was given the wi-fi code for the hotel but it never worked and hotel staff just said it must be a problem with my laptop. Not true - I ended up having to pay for wi-fi through Orange that worked fine.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering advice in things to do. The room was comfortable and clean. Well situated for Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter and shopping! This will now be our first choice hotel in Paris.
Excellent location. Reception staff very friendly & helpful. Rooms good size and clean. Plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was ok for a couple of mornings but as we were there for 5 nights and it was the same thing each day it became very repetative & boring. No variation from croissant, baguette & jams, cornflakes or muesli & plain yoghurt + apple compote. Fruit bowl was not replenished and by the end of the week there were a few bruised, sorry looking pears in it.
Location was perfect
Rooms were very small. The ceiling was pretty low. There was no air condition so I cannot think of it during summer. (We were there during October.) Since the hotel is located on a lively street, the rooms were bit noisy.
Everything happening on your doorstep in the Marais. Delightful and very helpful concierge Yelena - and another French lady (sorry no name)
Very small tight rooms. No bar fridge
The location is good.
It looked like a spare room to me. I opened two doors(like emergency exit) on the side of the corridor to get to my small room next to another. It was hot in the room and there's no air-condition but a fan. The WC looked modern but i could hear the sound clearly of my neighbour. The room is old and small. It's not worth of the price at all.
Location. Reasonably priced compared to other hotels around. Easy access to the Metro. Walking distance to many restaurants, cafes, etc.
Comfortable location and fair prices for 7-10 days in the heart of Paris. Though small for two occupants, those who do not plan to spend much time in the hotel will find room and services hard to beat in the same area of the city. The cleanliness of every part of the hotel was appreciated AND, the breakfast room and food truly outstanding.
The bathroom was barely suitable for two average size adults! And, certainly would be challenging for those who may be overweight or handicapped. Likewise, the small elevator will be challenging for such travelers. Street noises may be disturbing for days & nights when open windows are necessary for air circulation, even though each room does have an electric fan.
The location close to the main Monuments and Metro.
