Cognac is a very nice town and the surroundings too.
Cognac is a very nice town and the surroundings too. Visitors should go on a tasting tour at Martell and visit the castle of King François first. The distilleries tours are friendly and you will get a lot of infos about the amazing Cognac.
The old town is worth a visit especially the Couvent des Récollets and the churches.
If you have some time don’t hesitate to stroll near the Charente River. There is a five stars hotel named “les chais Jean Monnet” amazingly renovated and don’t miss a lunch or dinner at the restaurant. A true fantastic experience.

Full of charm and character.
Full of charm and character. Great size to visit the town on foot and feel that there is enough to see. We did one of the Cognac houses tour and tasting (Hennessy 2 hours) and enjoyed a meal at Les Chais Monnet, perfect little escapade.

We visited the tourist information centre, but we’re only told about the expensive brandy distillery tours, although there are free tours available outside the town, as well as one near the park.
Restaurants seemed to be overpriced.
To be fair, it was a grey, windy day in November when we visited, so we didn’t see it in its best light.

A lovely Town with much to see and enjoy!
Meukow Cognac House in particular!
The ‘ Garage Bar and Restaurant is superb with live music on Thursday and Saturday! Good food and Beverages plus very friendly Staff! Get in there!!😂👍
Our second visit to Cognac and we shall return!
Note! Wear shoes which have rubber soles as the cobbles and large paving blocks are ‘ time worn ‘ and slippery! The selection of Shops, Bars and Restaurants is excellent!
The hotel was very modern and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. We loved the layout of the good sized, lodge like rooms.
The pleasant short walk to the centre square and shops of Cognac takes you over the river via a picturesque stone bridge. There is a great patisserie nearby to grab a quick pastry or savoury.
The car park was on site and gated at night.
All in all a very pleasant stay.
A lovely hidden gem just behind the Chateau de Cognac. The garden is a calming delight with many flowers and herb bushes (enough to make any gourmet cook jealous). The house is in the old style with high ceilings, and marble and wood floors. It was clean, beautiful and the owner makes you feel at home. We wish we could have stayed longer.
The only word that comes to mind is exceptional. Evelyne and Pascal are super hosts and ambassadors for Cognac and the region. From the attention to details in the room to the local breakfast items , recommending things to do and showing us Cognac, then lastly, enjoying a meal together; it was beyond our greatest expectations.
The location is right by the train station and within walking distance to everywhere, even as far up as the Camus Cognac house. At the end of the day, I would just eat my takeaway on my private terrace and enjoy the nice weather. The staff was amazing! I would absolutely recommend and stay again upon revisiting Cognac!
We were moved to the main hotel and got the deluxe room

Very well located hotel in the centre of Cognac with great facilities such as the pool and steam room and a nice bar attached to the hotel. Private parking also in the hotel (though you will need to pre-arrange this with the hotel for a fee) which is very convenient and secure.
Stunning hotel in beautiful grounds. Huge rooms with the most comfortable bed. Fantastic restaurant with delicious food. All the staff were friendly & so polite, you could tell how proud they were if this wonderful hotel. We didn’t want to leave.

The hosts were excellent and made us feel very welcome. There is so much to do in cognac I wish we could have stayed longer. The city is very compact which makes it very easy to get around without having to use a car.
This was a lovely property and great value for money. The host was incredibly helpful with everything. The apartment was right in the centre of Cognac but at the same time it was very quiet so we got a good sleep.
Lovely hotel in a great location, just a stone’s throw from the centre of Cognac.
Nice big room and with the added bonus of having a kettle and fridge.
Would definitely recommend.
Extremely spacious apartment, comfortable bedroom, lovely terrace, lots of sunlight. For the same price as most hotel rooms nearby, it’s a great deal with much more space.
