The position is good in a small town and very close to the chateaux of the Loire. The restaurant is pleasant looking out over the river. The food is good and reasonably priced. The bedroom was "tired", needs to be updated and brightened up, a dark brown wall in a fairly dark room is rarely a good idea! The bathroom had 2 tiles missing from the side of the bath, a repair job that would take a very few minutes. The food in the restaurant was very good but it took more than 45 minutes to get our starters and that was on a very quite evening!

Did not enjoy our stay at all. Very poor reception. Tired decor in our "superior" room for which we paid a premium. Kept awake by street noise and the light reflected in from the illuminated hotel sign at the front of the building. We would not recommend this hotel. Poor value for money.

Loches is a lovely place to visit, a little away from some of the more touristy parts of the Loire Valley. We visited on our way back to the channel tunnel from south west France and it made a very pleasant place to stop and visit before heading further north. Parking was easy and free, just behind the hotel. The hotel itself is opposite the Chateau, a couple of hundred yards from the centre of town and next to a very pleasant park. I would recommend a visit to Loches but not to this hotel. The hotel is in a lovely location and is a very interesting building but is badly let down by a lack of investment and customer care. Simple improvements like a small bar of soap in the bathroom and shampoo/shower gel, all we got was a sachet of gel hardly sufficient for one hand wash let alone a shower. We booked 2 rooms, one, a standard twin, had to be changed due to problems with the plumbing to the toilet which would have been obvious if the room had been properly prepared. The replacement room was a large family room with river view which they confirmed would be charged at the rate for the standard twin. The rooms have basic furnishings, carpets are old and stained, tiles were missing in one of the bathrooms and the standard room had no shower curtain. The final problem was that on checking out they tried to charge extra for the room that was changed despite confirming the night before that there would be no extra charge. When I politely pointed this out the the person at reception sighed, shook his head and then printed out a new invoice, no apology for the mistake or the inconvenience of having to change to another room. All of the above is a great shame as this could be a lovely hotel with a bit of decoration, upgrading the furniture and consideration that people travelling expect a few essential toiletries.

This hotel is super with old rustic charm although we thought it was excellent it would not be good for elderly people with poor mobility as the rooms are up a wounderful stone spiral staircase with no lift. What this hotel does not promote enough is the wounderful restaurant which is within the hotel the chef is superb I dont think I have eaten better anywhere and that includes at celebrity chef restaurants.

The restauarant was excellent with quality food at reasonable prices. The position overlooking the river was also good. The hotel had a generally run down appearance and the room was fairly shabby. The whole place, apart from the restaurant, could do with a complete makeover and redecoration. There was no soap available in the room and they could not find us any.

The position of the dining room is wonderful . The young waitress who made a good effort to speak English when necessary . The food was too fussy and overpriced . The traffic noise in the rooms overlooking the street was very loud.It was too warm to leave the window closed

The location - Loches is a very nice town to walk around We informed hotel we had a small dog travelling with us, so we were allocated a room on the 2nd floor, to get to this floor we had to climb up a narrow stepped spiral staircase, which although rather quaint, was rather dangerous at the top when decending, I hate to think of a situation if there was a fire, and people had to be evacuated! We did ask for a lower positioned room as my wife was just recovering from a knee operation, and also it was inconvenient for us with the dog. But all rooms were booked up, the girl at reception spoke no english what so ever so communication was difficult with our limited french. I think people should be warned about the staircase as very old people would not be able to manage it. I loved the town of Loches and would return but certainly wouldn't stay at that hotel. With the lack of communication when we arrived, we decided to eat out elsewhere., And we departed before allocated breakfast time, so cannot comment on the food at hotel. The hotel was in a nice position and the parking at the side was ok, if you could find an empty parking space, which upon our arrival there weren't any, we specifically requested parking. (We have only just returned to uk from our holiday, hence late reply)

It is a real hotel with individual character. Furnishings and decor of good taste. No mini bar, note paper, his and hers, naif pictures, and that makes a change Serving staff should have been smarter dressed and more welcoming. We sat at our table for a good ten minutes before being spoken to. In our restaurant folk immediately given bread and water

Relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff .Proximity to the park and chateau .dog frienly and easy parking right by hotel . we have stayed many times Ideal overnight stop in a beautiful medieval town . Noticed restaurant closed Sunday evening and also that reception is not always open pm but number to call is left on door . Not big problems, unless you arrive very late after a long journey !
