Le Grand Hôtel

Staff were polite and helpful. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Considering the location in the centre of Lille, this was good value for money.

So convenient to the old train station (Flandres). Just walk straight out of the station and you'll be there in 2 minutes. Note that some trains come to the Eurostation, like the one from the UK. The Euro station is about 5 minutes walking from the old one. Very pleasant staff, room fine, not 5 star, but good enough. WIFI worked well, except that I couldn't access my VPN in the states - strange.

Breakfast is 6.50, and not worth it. It really should be included, since it is nothing more than a few rolls, and coffee.

Central location, large, clean, bright (twin) room, good size bathroom, flat screen tele with four cable TV channels including BBC news.

Doors to rooms right next to one another. Keys used to enter, so you can imagine the noise as you unlock and open your door and then lock it behind you! At least once, I thought someone was entering my room and not the one next door. Internal sound-proofing very poor: I could hear the conversations of my neighbours, their TV, even their showers. Hair dryer not supplied in bathroom.

After reading the reviews, I was a bit afraid of the breakfast but in turned out to be pretty OK. People here wrote that it was very expensive. Well, the cost was 6.5€ per person. Breakfast included coffee, two "pains au chocolat" pp, half a baguette (with jam) and one small croissant. For me that was adequate to start the day. The breakfast room was idd small, but that didn't cause a problem when we were there. If you want to have a fancy breakfast, visit "Meert" (5min walk).The staff of the hotel were very friendly, very clean rooms. Excellent value for money, great location. Please remind that this is a budget, 2star hotel, so don't expect to have a 5star accomodation.

Staff helpful.Ensuite bathroom was first class. Basic but good value for money.

Het is heel dicht bij het station gelegen, perfect in de winkelstraten. Dicht bij alles wat je wilt bezoeken.

Perfecte ligging, vriendelijk personeel, goede bedden en een zeer schone badkamer.
