Friendly staff, great location - Belves is fantastic (night market on Weds in summer, normal market Sat morning)
Bathroom (toilet room in particular) had a very unpleasant smell and the bed was a bit short (we're not really above average height either)
Host William was very nice and helpful. Belves was very pretty.
Slightly noisy but then we had been driving long distances for many days and wanted to turn in about 10.30pm. Once the town had settled down we slept well.
Value for money Fantastic restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. I will be returning!
The hotel is in the middle of town but not too busy. The room was the smallest in the hotel but still big enough for us. The owner was really helpful and polite - doesn't speak English though so lots of sign language for us. It's very clean and tidy and the room was thoroughly cleaned every day.
There were two sockets in the room - and we needed those for the fan and the light. The bed was too hard for us. The quote from Booking.com included VAT but this is incorrect and Booking.com need to correct this on their website.
I stayed here 25 years ago when househunting in the region. So I stayed here again when I was finally leaving France. It was a visit of nostalgia. Cheerful hosts and reasonable menu.
Poor lighting in the room for reading in bed.
We were in Belves for a wedding, and were advised to stay here by the Bride and Groom. The rooms were simple and immaculately clean, with a good, hot shower. The bar down the stairs served a range of local cuisine to a very high standard, and the breakfast was exquisite, with the croissants still warm from the bakery 3 doors down! Most importantly, we had a requirement to change for a wedding at 4pm on the day of check in, and usually check in is at 5pm. Having explained our requirements, we arrived a little after midday to find that Madame had made our rooms available at considerable extra work to her and her small family team, which was much appreciated. The location for the exploration of one of the gems of the Dordogne could not have been better! After an initial misunderstanding, the family could not have been more helpful and friendly and we would highly recommend a stay here, as it is excellent value for money all things considered.
It has often been our experience in France that, when you have a requirement that necessitates someone to go above and beyond, it is (initially) quite often rejected out of hand, as was our (admittedly late) request for an early check in here. However, if someone was unaware of the way customer service works here, and thus of the need to state your case quite forcefully and repetitively in order to enjoy a small service that would enhance the overall customer experience immeasurably (in this case, the provision of any room with a door and a pit of privacy where we could change for the wedding), then their experience could be quite different. As it was, a difficult, reasonably heated phone call the night before resulted in Madame, to our eternal gratitude, pulling out all the stops for us, but is certainly added stress to an already quite stressful situation!
Location and price
It was functional but we didn't feel very welcome probably because we arrived just before the check-in closed (10 pm)
the waitress wxas charming and gave good advice
the light bulb in room number 3
Everything (have stayed here before.
Having to leave
US Traveler-Le Home was comfortable and right in the middle of a lovely, quiet town. Though our room was small and basic, we had a lovely view of the church and the pleasant staff made us feel welcome!
Rooms were pleasant
Welcome was cursory. Restaurant was full when we arrived but we were not told on arrival.
Great family run hotel. Nothing was too much of a problem. Beautiful location and amazing value
What was there not to love
We stayed in Le Home for a week and really enjoyed the stay. The reason we chose Le Home was purely based on the positive reviews of the hotel and especially of it's restaurant. We were so glad we made the right choice. The hotel is a great base for travelling around the Dordogne area. The owners and the staff are very friendly and made us feel welcomed. The room is basic but the bed is very comfy and very clean, very good shower, towels were changed everyday. We ate in their restaurant four times, tried all three set menus. They're all very good value for money, I'd highly recommend the 26 euro set menu. The confit duck was exceptional, you must try it. We dinned in four Michelin Guide restaurants in the area and the food at Le home is of similar standard. Salads and deserts are also delicious. The 6.5 Euro breakfast was good value for money, and the croissant was so good.
La localisation de l'hôtel, la chambre
The room was very comfortable and cool despite the heat of summer. Restaurant excellent and good value. Staff efficient and friendly
Having to leave!
The hotel was ideally situated and we loved the restaurant. The fixed price meal we enjoyed was excellent value for money and the portions very substantial.
The food and the limited menu. Main courses were expensive for a place like Belves, certainly when compared to my last visit. they had clearly moved away from well cooked rustic food. The cheaper menu was awful.
Le Home is in the lovely village of Belves and is a great base for travelling around the Dordogne area. Our room was small with a tiny en-suite but it was clean and comfortable. The owners were helpful and the food is good.
Hidden fees customer service is the worst I've seen in 25 years of traveling the world over 5 continents. staff is grupping and will scold you at the slightest comment on the room. I was there with a group of people that booked in total about 5 hotels in the area, and this one was unanimously described as unwelcoming, unfriendly, and with managers looking to make a buck wherever they can on extras. beds fit people size 1m75 and under breakfast is bad and expensive
I am very surprised that this hotel is only classed as a 1 star hotel as they are most definitely worthy of 4 stars. Natalie, William and Christoff who are the main staff members that looked after us were brilliant. The food was absoultuely outstanding and Belves picturesque.
There weren't any dislikes about this hotel. We will most definitely return to this hotel
