It has often been our experience in France that, when you have a requirement that necessitates someone to go above and beyond, it is (initially) quite often rejected out of hand, as was our (admittedly late) request for an early check in here. However, if someone was unaware of the way customer service works here, and thus of the need to state your case quite forcefully and repetitively in order to enjoy a small service that would enhance the overall customer experience immeasurably (in this case, the provision of any room with a door and a pit of privacy where we could change for the wedding), then their experience could be quite different. As it was, a difficult, reasonably heated phone call the night before resulted in Madame, to our eternal gratitude, pulling out all the stops for us, but is certainly added stress to an already quite stressful situation!
We were in Belves for a wedding, and were advised to stay here by the Bride and Groom. The rooms were simple and immaculately clean, with a good, hot shower. The bar down the stairs served a range of local cuisine to a very high standard, and the breakfast was exquisite, with the croissants still warm from the bakery 3 doors down! Most importantly, we had a requirement to change for a wedding at 4pm on the day of check in, and usually check in is at 5pm. Having explained our requirements, we arrived a little after midday to find that Madame had made our rooms available at considerable extra work to her and her small family team, which was much appreciated. The location for the exploration of one of the gems of the Dordogne could not have been better! After an initial misunderstanding, the family could not have been more helpful and friendly and we would highly recommend a stay here, as it is excellent value for money all things considered.
