Le Lion D'or is very well positioned for any one wishing to explore the City of Bayuex. Sadly the Lion D'or is in need of some essential updating to ensure it continues to be considered a good place to stay, 'shabby chic' only goes so far to charm guests. |

helpfulness on staff, especially assisting with translation to solve onward problems that were nothing to do with our stay at the hotel! I suspect the decor may be to a certain taste - but it went down very well with my other half, so I'm happy :) |

The location was very important to us because we rode the train. We could walk easily everywhere we needed to go. |

Location was excellent and the outside of the hotel is exquisite. There are many places to eat just around the corner, along with the charm of the streets, shopping and the tapestry. Staff was OK but not the warmest or the most helpful you'll find anywhere. Brunch is extremely overpriced for cheese, croissants and boiled eggs. Our room was so tiny that we couldn't even find a place for our luggage. We could barely walk around the bed on any side. The charm of the hotel is the history, the building and all the historical leaders and actors that have visited. That is small solace in the tiny room. I like taking the stairs, but my partner has trouble with it. There is no lift. |

All staff very helpful, spoke english, room clean and large - and they accepted dogs. The staff even made my baby daughter pasta to take away with us when leaving - how nice is that! |

Good location, and good restaurant. However, it is trading on its past history revolving around D-Day! And it is now shabby and ungenerous in serving clients: rooms and public areas need a lot of refurbishing; the soap in the rooms is so small as to be almost invisible. It does not make for good value. |

Bathroom was nice. Location in center of town, but there is nothing to do at night. Nice history in bar area. There is no lift and they put us on the top floor. 5 flights of stairs. Someone did, however, help with luggage. Food was outrageously priced. Hotel has very worn feel. Shops all closed in the evening when you get back from touring. Make sure you reserve a parking place at 8 E a day. Very few restaurants open after 9 PM. Close to D-Day sites. |

We only stayed one night, but appreciated it's central position. Principally chose to stay in Bayeaux for the Tapestry. Hand held shower, but otherwise bathroom was fine. They charge 8 Euros for parking, which seems excessive, especially as there is a free car park a few minutes walk away. The breakfast was good, but overpriced at 13 Euros each. |
