The hotel was aestetically pleasing and the room was lovely and big with a luxurious bathroom with plenty of toiletries and thick fluffy dressing gowns. There was an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Every evening an information sheet was left in our room with a weather report and places of interest to visit. The breakfast was very substantial. The hotel was ideally situated for the Chateau and all the cafes and restaurants along the main street. The river was only 10 minutes walk away. We would recommend visiting the Chateau and Leonardo de Vinci's house. The Sedway was a great way to whizz around the town with a guide. Very convenient location to visit other Chateau's near by. We didn't like that in a 4* hotel there was no lift and too many narrow stair cases to climb with heavy cases.

The setting in an ancient cloister now converted to a hotel with spacious grounds in a walled garden was beautiful. Placed near the castl;e and the restaurant area of Amboise the location was excellent. The huge spacious rooms and breakfast room gave an authentic manor- like feeling. It was very expensive but worth it. Finding the hotel by car is a little tricky.

The staff were very warm and friendly, being certain to let us know to contact them for any needs regardless of time. They gave us two lovely rooms, one above the other, joined by a "secret" spiral staircase. Our children loved that feature. Although the rooms have old world charm, they do not feel or smell old in the negative sense, and the bathrooms are lovely, spacious, bright and modern, on par with any 5 star hotel. The hotel is very conveniently located within a brief walk to the Amboise castle, and we were suggested a couple of really delicious dinner locations in the village based on our needs. Breakfast was more than ample, and we didn't need lunch afterward. Wonderful selection of regional cheeses and meats, as well as cereals, yogourt, pastry baskets, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. Very accommodating of our 3 children (ages 6 & 8). Wished we could have stayed longer, but the cost is a factor. Pricey for longer than a night, but on par with most chateau-style hotels in the region.

Le Manoir Saint Thomas is really a wonderful hotel for a honey-moon or just for a pleasure time at Loire Valley. The location is fantastic, the rooms are amazing but mainly the staff (Ala and Serrafine) are very kind and helpful. They make you feel at home and give it a five star conciergerie service. At the Loire Valley it's the best place to stay.

The Hotel was built in the 11th century and has been set up to a 4 star level it was fantastic to stay in a building this old. The greeting by Antonella on arrival was just fantastic nothing was to much trouble. Every thing in the room was 1st class. Location for the centre of Amboise and the chateau was just perfect. Would definately stay here again. Wifi didn't work in my room but going down stairs was fine.

Our booking at the Le Manoir Saint Thomas was made within two weeks of our visit and was made on the strength of on-line recommendations. To fit our stay of two nights we had a lovely two person room for night one and moved to an even lovelier suite for night two. Both rooms were luxurious and spacious and well equipped with a good mix of the new and the old. The welcome at the hotel was first class when we arrived - nothing was too much trouble - good restaurants were recommended and reserved for us. Impossible to fault - but if we had to name anything we would consider the breakfast as adequate and quite comparable to others in France but not outstanding - unlike the rooms and service.Personal preference for duvet over blankets/sheets but not a gripe.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Our room was large and comfortably appointed. The location is ideal and is close to all the attractions of Amboise. The hotel has character and was an ideal hotel for our stay in the Loire Valley. We really enjoyed the pool on the hot days. Staff were helpful and courteous. The hotel accommodated our 2 years old daughter well.

“Our stay was very pleasant. The hotel is well situated near the town center and chateau. The grounds are quite impressive and the room was spacious and comfortable. The entire staff was helpful answering questions and setting up a trip to the chateaus. The buffet was good but could have benefited from a few more choices. The town of Amboise is definitely worth a visit.” Ronald, Walnut Creek |
