Hôtel De Garlande is a fully renovated former house with a peaceful and central location on a quiet street in the heart of the historic quarter. It is on a pedestrian street.
Score from 323 reviews Excellent
Other than the lack of a shower curtain in our room, the hotel was excellent and a great value. Staff were very accommodating. Perfect location with easy public parking nearby. Easy walk from the hotel to the Palais des Papes and main shopping avenues/streets.
2 of the 3 rooms we used did not have a shower curtain around the shower. However, staff were able to install a curtain in one of them.
Staff very professional and helpful
The lovely old building with its grand staircase and charming rooms. The very hospitable and helpful hosts.
We chose Le Medieval for its location however, as the old town of Avignon is centuries old, we found it difficult to locate. Helpful locals assisted in the end. No fault of the hotel!! Our stay was just an overnighter en route to Nice and for that reason it was fine. The staff were most helpful!
Managing the 2 flights of stairs with luggage!
This hotel is in an excellent location. The staff were very courteous and efficient. They were very knowledgeable of attractions and restaurants to visit. Our room was lovely overlooking the courtyard. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The price was very reasonable considering the location. Perfect spot for those who arrive by train and want to fully experience Avignon.
Breakfast was OK but for the price you could eat at many places very close to the hotel. Parking was in a parkade away from the hotel.
Delicious coffee and wide choice of artisan breads. Staff all very friendly and helpful.
air conditioning vent(?) was very noisy during the night
The staff there were very friendly and helpful. We got the room in the garden, and thus avoided the stairs for heavy luggages. The hotel is lcoated in the old town, very convenient for sightseeing.
The room is quite good and would need some renovation. There is barely any wifi or cellphone signal in the room.
The location is very central, the building is very beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and extremely knowledgeable about the town and the area. It is clean and comfortable.
There can be a lot of noise at night from people passing by in the narrow street on which it stands.
Staff were exceedingly helpful and engaging. Most could speak English well and those that could not managed to convey helpful information. Requests for photocopying, train timetables, advice re points of interests locally and otherwise were happily addressed. Once suitcases were stored, walking time to Tourist Office, station, bus stop was about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace. Supermarket around the corner offered a good range of foods for the days that we did not dine out; Less than 15 minutes stroll to the Popes Palace and the many restaurants around the square.
Our room could accommodate four, however it was quite cramped with just two. I doubt that more than two suitcases would fit in the room we occupied.
Great location, excellent front desk
Bed not great, bathroom cramped
Great location and excellent staff. A very stylish hotel but the room was not quite up to the standard of the common areas, but still a great stay!
room could be updated..
Fantastic informative and friendly hosts. Nice sized room with aircon and fridge which came in real handy. Location was convenient to all sites and shopping.
Lovely old hotel in the centre of Avignon. Incredibly welcoming staff. Basic clean rooms. Bike friendly as bikes were stored securely in hotel garage. Good wifi signal.
Breakfast very average
Location, friendly helpful staff. Quaint old world charm.
Lack of space for suit cases
Only 10 minutes walk to Arc de triompt, as well as to the bus to airport. The facilities are good too, including a mini bar. The room faces a street, however completely acceptable when closing the window. An elderly receptionist cannot understand English, but it's no big deal. Totally worth it.
No shower curtain in bathroom which makes it very wet.
its in a great location, lovely room, good facilities. staff very friendly :)
the WiFi was touch and go joining the network. a temperamental web interface to input your user name and password....
Everything was fine.
There were some mosquitoes in the room. There was a nice kitchen, but without dishes or anything. It could be used under some conditions it was written, which we didn't find out.
Narrow road, bad area and dark three long flights of stairs to drag luggage. Never again.
The locality was excellent
Everything else! Stained sheets Old towels Hole kicked in bathroom door Curtains hanging off rails Four flights of stairs with luggage Staff with attitude We booked a "superior" double room and the photo of it is a total lie!
Hotel very clean. Very welcoming and helpful reception. Really good sized bedroom and bathroom for 2 star hotel. In the old town very close to the historic sites, and restaurants.
Staff helped us get fabulous wine tour, restaurant reservations. Clean, quiet, lovely. Great breakfasts would go back anytime
The Staff The location The ambiance
3rd floor was a challenge with our heavy bags..no elevator
Location was excellent, 5 minute walk to Palais des Papes and centre of this lovely walled town. The staff, especially Mike, were fantastic, giving information and recommendations as to dining and what to see. We had secure parking for our motorcycle in their garage.
The central courtyard is where smokers go. We found we could smell their smoke in our room above, so worth keeping window closed.
Very central Friendly and helpfull staff Comfortable rooms
Staff treated us like long lost family, comfortable beds, excellent continental breakfast (eggs, ham, salami, cheese, yoghurt, orange juice, cereal, baget, pastries, fruit, coffee and tea). Very central. Discount at parking lot
No elevator, (although to be fair, the two stories of stairs were not steep). Driving in Avignon is a challenge and it helps to read the map carefully.
